Get Closer to Fluency with the LingQ Language Challenge!
Learning a language is an epic quest. In the beginning you move quickly, gaining words and phrases daily. It feels good to see progress week to week. From not being able to understand or speak at all, you can suddenly recognize and say a few phrases in a new language. Wow!
When this initial stage of quick gain and satisfying progress starts to slow down, you are left with the longer, more difficult part of your quest. Progress can be slow, and you might lose your momentum. When you are at this stage, you need a motivation boost, and here at LingQ we have something that helps: the 90-Day Challenge.
The LingQ 90-Day Challenge is a way for language learners to make a breakthrough in their language while supporting and encouraging each other, with a healthy dose of competition thrown in. Challengers are given 90 days to meet their challenge targets of known words, LingQs, LingQs learned, hours of listening and words of reading.
After 90 days, if you’ve met your targets, you will have achieved a major step forward in your language.
To sign up for a challenge click the “Challenges” tab on the Lesson page (on the right where you also see your statistics and avatar), then click “Start a Challenge”.
You can then see which challenges are active. A new challenge starts every 90 days in each language, but you can sign up late if you like. You’ll have less time than everyone else to reach your targets, but you like a challenge, right?
Once you have signed up, you can track your progress and see how your fellow challengers are doing on the leaderboard. As you can see below, I’m currently in second place in the Swedish challenge. Must. Work. Harder.
Wanting to be top of the leader board is as good a motivation as any, but there are other rewards waiting for you at the end of a 90-Day Challenge: a graduation cap for your avatar and a challenge badge for your profile.
We have something exciting to announce for the February 90-Day Challenge, so there’s never been a better time to start a challenge. Check out the LingQ Twitter and Facebook for updates!
