Free French Lessons You Can Find on YouTube

I’m sure you already know that YouTube is an excellent source to find information about practically anything you can think of. From educational children’s content and lessons, through to funny videos and entertainment, you’re guaranteed to find something on YouTube to keep you watching for hours on end.

With that said, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that there are plenty of YouTube videos out there that can help you learn French. In the following article, we’re going to take a look at 10 of the best YouTube videos that focus primarily on teaching French 🙂

The first few videos on our list are best for beginners, and as we progress, we’ll work our way into the videos that are best for advanced learners.

Alphabet Français – French Alphabet
Although this first video may be extremely simple, it’s an good resource if you’re brand new to the French language. Listen to the video for a few times so you can get used to the pronunciation of each letter.

French Lesson 1 – Learn French Alphabet Pronunciation

Our next video is another explainer video. It also goes over the French alphabet, but adds in an example word for each letter, which will help you build your vocabulary and learn some of the more common words in French.


French Lessons – Numbers 1 to 100
As you already know, learning your ABC’s is just as important as learning your one, two, three’s. Therefore, the next beginner video on our list goes over the numbers from 1 to 100 in French. It will show you the numbers in written form, as well as how to pronounce them.


Top 30 French Phrases
In this intermediate video, Cindy, a French native speaker takes you through 30 important phrases that every French speaker should know. She starts out by saying the phrases in French and then, gives you the English translation as well.


Learn Intermediate Conversational French
Our next video is a great resource if you’re looking to dive into more native-like material. The video will help you get used to natural French conversation and help improve your listening skills.


20 Daily French Conversations – French Practice for Intermediate learners
In this video, you’ll listen to 20 different conversations in French twice. The first time, without a transcript and the second time, with a transcript to help you follow along.


43 Minutes of Advanced French Listening Comprehension
The next video on our list is meant to help you practice your listening and comprehension skills. In the video, you’ll be shown an image and then you’ll have to listen to a question, as well as a bit of dialogue, before getting the chance to answer. At the end of the video, you’ll be given the answers to each question.

In our next video, you’ll be able to sit down and listen to 80 different conversations in French. This video is best for more advanced students, since the dialogue is rather fast-paced. However, it does display a transcript along with the audio, helping you follow along.

I really like this next video because it goes over three different skill levels. In the video, the host, Jennifer, will read aloud a variety of phrases and sentences that you can start using right away.


French Everyday Conversation with French Subtitles
Finally, our last video will help you learn how to speak French by listening to everyday conversations on a variety of subjects. Fortunately, the video has French subtitles, so that no matter what skill level you’re at, you’ll be able to follow along with the actors.
