La mia vita da musicista

Ciao a tutti e benvenuti su podcast italiano. Per chi fosse nuovo, Podcast Italiano è un podcast, ma anche canale YouTube, dove potete ascoltare contenuti in italiano naturale, attraverso materiali autentici, contenuti autentici, interessanti e spero anche coinvolgenti, cioè che vi coinvolgono e che vi fanno venire voglia di ascoltare per molto tempo. Questo è un episodio di livello intermedio, il che significa che non è troppo difficile, non è avanzato come l'ultimo episodio e come potete sentire non ho un testo preparato. Io di solito preparo un testo per questi episodi di livello intermedio ma oggi voglio provare una cosa diversa, voglio provare a parlare a ruota libera, senza avere nessun copione, un po' come faccio per le riflessioni senza trascrizioni, ma per questo episodio fornirò una trascrizione.

E perché ho deciso di fare così ho deciso di fare così perché… per due motivi un motivo perché il problema del… degli episodi con un copione, gli episodi completamente scritti che leggo è che quando leggo voi lo capite che sto leggendo e mi sembra che ci sia sempre questa sensazione di documentario in TV oppure qualcosa del genere, qualcosa di un po' finto, artificioso. Il che può anche essere interessante perché sicuramente a livello linguistico un episodio preparato del genere è più eloquente, perché non sono Cicerone non posso improvvisare e fare un discorso fantastico a livello linguistico, quindi sono due cose abbastanza diverse, secondo me. voglio provare anche questa cosa, voglio anche provare a parlare senza avere un copione, l'ho fatto anche in passato ma per breve tempo, lo faccio sempre nelle riflessioni senza trascrizioni ma voglio provare a farlo oggi in questo episodio di livello intermedio, e mi interessa anche sapere che cosa vuoi ne pensate.

Quindi essendo un episodio di livello intermedio potete leggere la trascrizione integrale su Podcast Italiano e trovare anche la traduzione in inglese delle parole più complicate, o almeno che io reputo più complicate una cosa divertente è andata ben poco divertente di questo episodio che io l'avevo già registrato.

Avevo registrato 40 minuti di episodio ma mi sono accorto che l'ho registrato con un audio non molto buono, ovvero era distorto, l'audio era distorto e ho pensato… ho pensato un po' se lasciare l'audio in quella maniera, se pubblicare quell'episodio però non mi piace avere l'audio distorto, preferisco riregistrare e quindi questo è il secondo tentativo. Magari registrando e ridicendo le stesse cose avrò le idee un po' più chiare, speriamo. Il secondo motivo, tra l'altro, per cui ho deciso di provare questo format è perché recentemente ho iniziato ad ascoltare un podcast simile al mio, in un certo senso, per l'apprendimento del francese, che si chiama Inner French.

E la cosa interessante di Inner French è che il suo creatore Hugo fa degli episodi molto lunghi, episodi di mezz'ora completamente trascritti su argomenti abbastanza complicati, argomenti tipo, non lo so… l'islamofobia, essere omosessuale in Francia, la minaccia del dell'uso eccessivo della plastica o… cose comunque abbastanza controverse e complicate e a me questa cosa piace perché sono temi che trovo profondamente interessanti e permettono davvero di immergersi nella lingua francese per mezz'ora.

Ora io non ho un reale bisogno di ascoltare francese intermedio perché il mio… la mia comprensione è superiore al suo livello e capisco il 100% di quello che dice, però devo dire che effettivamente è comunque interessante ed è anche una soddisfazione capire il 100% di quello che dice. E poi comunque gli argomenti che tratta sono davvero interessanti, sono così interessanti che io ho voglia… mi viene voglia di ascoltare il suo podcast, e io praticamente non facevo francese da molto tempo, davvero non ascoltavo nulla in francese, per molto tempo non l'ho fatto. Il suo podcast è talmente ben fatto che mi è venuta… mi è tornata la voglia.

Quindi questo mi fa molto piacere, spero che podcast italiano possa, diciamo, essere la stessa cosa per voi. Il mio obiettivo numero uno adesso è davvero di rendere questo progetto, i contenuti che faccio interessanti. Usare l'italiano per parlare di cose, non per insegnarvi la lingua italiana, almeno non solamente. Questa è anche la mia strategia, la mia "vision" per il futuro di questo progetto e per distinguermi anche un po' da quello che fanno le altre persone che hanno progetti su YouTube, altri Podcast per l'apprendimento dell'italiano. Io trovo che molto spesso o parlano della lingua italiana, parlano di espressioni italiane, di parole italiane cose di questo tipo, oppure parlano, non lo so di quanto è bello e buono il cibo italiano, di quanto sono belle le città italiane. Io… sicuramente è interessante, sono interessanti tutte queste cose, ma io voglio fare una cosa diversa e spero che possa anche interessarvi proprio perché è un po' diverso da quello che già c'è, Io voglio fare… mi piacerebbe in futuro fare più contenuti anche un po'… controversi o meglio, trattare temi controversi oppure anche più personali, cose di questo tipo.

La parola chiave è che sia interessante, questo è davvero… il nodo centrale… il nodo centrale significa… un nodo è un “knot” in inglese, quando annodi, per esempio, le scarpe – o diciamo anche allacciare le scarpe, perché quelle corde… le corde delle scarpe si chiamano lacci e noi praticamente allacciamo le scarpe o annodiamo le scarpe, facciamo un nodo. In italiano si dice il nodo della questione che significa il punto centrale della questione, il nodo centrale della questione è questo, ovvero che i contenuti devono essere interessanti. Ultimamente mi sono convinto ulteriormente – già lo sapevo ma mi sono nuovamente convinto di questa cosa – che i contenuti sono la cosa più importante e forse l'unica cosa importante secondo me nell'apprendimento delle lingue.

Devono essere contenuti interessanti, coinvolgenti, addirittura, come dice Stephen krashen, e in questo modo gli ostacoli non sono davvero ostacoli, soprattutto se… quando l'input che riceviamo, i contenuti che leggiamo o guardiamo (intendevo: ascoltiamo) sono a un livello magari un pochino più difficile del nostro o a un livello che corrisponde al nostro, anche inferiore ma l'importante è che siano interessanti. Per esempio io ascolto Inner French, che è più facile del mio livello, no? È un livello inferiore, ma comunque interessante e questo mi permette di ascoltare il francese e avere dell'input quasi tutti i giorni.

Un altro modo in cui mi sono convinto dell'importanza dei contenuti è il caso della lingua tedesca. Forse sapete, se avete visto il mio video sul… che si chiama “Failing to learn languages” in inglese, è un video in cui spiego praticamente perché ho, diciamo, ho fallito, non ho avuto molto successo nell'apprendimento di alcune lingue tra cui il tedesco. Il tedesco è l'ultima lingua che (meglio: in cui) in un certo senso pensavo di aver fallito. Ebbene, ho ripreso a imparare il tedesco e l'ho fatto per due motivi. Uno perché ho trovato un canale davvero molto interessante che si chiama MrWissen2go, è un canale di un ragazzo tedesco che parla di temi socio-culturali, politici che io trovo davvero molto interessanti per me.

E questa è una cosa importante, è che sono interessanti per me, perché se per me non sono interessanti, se io non li trovo interessanti è inutile. E voi siete persone diverse, io spero che quello di cui parlo possa essere interessante, però se non vi interessa quello di cui parlo non ascoltate perché non è utile per l'apprendimento dell'italiano. Deve essere interessante, se no smetterete di ascoltare. Se faccio un episodio su un argomento che non vi interessa non lo ascoltate, lo dico contro i miei interessi ma non ascoltatelo perché non serve ed è una cosa frustrante. Io in tedesco ho ascoltato forse per troppo tempo cose che non mi interessavano, che erano troppo complicate per me e questo non mi aiutato molto. Ma adesso avendo trovato questo canale sono davvero pieno di energia e di voglia di imparare il tedesco tutti i giorni.

E un'altra cosa che faccio – e qui entra in gioco lo sponsor di oggi che è LingQ – è, appunto… ho ripreso, ho ricominciato ad utilizzare wink.com è una piattaforma creata dal Poliglotta straordinario Steve Kaufman (o “Kaufman” in tedesco) che ho intervistato di recente. È una piattaforma che permette di leggere e ascoltare in una maniera semplificata… anzi, direi ascoltare e leggere in maniera semplificata. Loro hanno Innanzitutto una biblioteca di materiali davvero molto vasta in ogni lingua, chiaramente più vasta nelle lingue principali. Materiali che si compongono di testo e audio, quindi potete leggere e ascoltare. Leggere in maniera semplificata perché voi potete evidenziare le parole che non sapete, oppure blocchi di parole, frasi intere anche che non sapete, e praticamente ricevete una traduzione – in realtà loro la chiamano “hint”, o diverse “hints”, suggerimenti li chiamerei in italiano – che, allora, se si tratta di una parola abbastanza comune o di una frase abbastanza comune, cioè tre o quattro parole che, diciamo, occorrono spesso, che tornano spesso, spesso questi suggerimenti sono fatti dagli utenti.

Se è una frase molto particolare che c'è in un testo ma non è comune nella lingua allora il sistema usa Google Translate, che comunque è utile e in questo modo, davvero, si semplifica e si velocizza l'apprendimento o la lettura davvero moltissimo. Non so quanto ci metterei a leggere gli stessi testi se dovessi cercare sul dizionario anche online – ma comunque lento anche il dizionario online – tutte le parole che non so. E come uso i video di Mr. Wissen 2 Go? Praticamente LingQ ha un'estensione per il browser. Voi potete importare con questa estensione i sottotitoli dei video di YouTube e studiarli su LingQ, che è una cosa davvero eccezionale perché io importo i video in maniera totalmente automatica di Mr. Wissen2Go e studio il testo in questa maniera, potete farlo con i miei video, con i video di altri youtuber che hanno magari i sottotitoli sotto i loro video.

Ci sono anche i sottotitoli automatici fatti da YouTube e a volte funzionano piuttosto bene devo dire se l'audio è buono e se l'articola-… il modo in cui parla lo speaker, diciamo, è abbastanza buono. Non sempre sono perfetti e soprattutto non c'è una divisione molto corretta in frasi, quindi è meglio forse sei trovato i video con i sottotitoli. Però sì, questa è davvero un'ottima cosa, potete farlo anche con Netflix – non potete vedere Netflix sul LingQ perché non c'è l'embedding, non c'è l'incorporazione su LingQ – però sì, date un'occhiata a LingQ. Passiamo all'argomento di oggi, appunto, per offrirvi un po' di contenuti spero interessanti. Volevo raccontarvi la storia di come sono diventato musicista e un po' della mia esperienza come musicista. Partiamo dalle origini: io non ascolto la musica che ascoltano le altre persone. So che questa frase mi può far sembrare un po' uno snob. Si da il caso che quando avevo 12 o 13 anni mi sono interessato a un gruppo musicale chiamato Dream Theater e questa è successo a causa di mio fratello perché a quell'età, avendo un fratello più grande, un fratello maggiore, si fa e si copia e si imita tutto quello che fa il proprio fratello. E mio fratello, che era interessato soprattutto alla musica rock e Metal – e io lo copiavo, ascoltavo le stesse cose che ascoltava lui – aveva trovato un gruppo musicale che faceva questo genere molto particolare che si chiama Progressive Metal, metal progressivo possiamo dire. Magari non ascoltate Metal non avete idea di che cosa sia questo strano genere. Per spiegarvi che cos'è questo genere vi posso dire che è la fusione tra metal, magari avete più o meno un'idea di cosa sia il metal, qualcosa così.

E il cosiddetto genere del progressive Rock, o rock progressivo, che è un genere nato negli anni 70 che praticamente fondeva il rock con altri generi musicali come il jazz, la musica classica. Un genere che era molto eclettico, che aveva molte influenze. Se avete mai sentito parlare di gruppi come i Genesis, gli Yes, oppure che ne so… in Italia abbiamo anche tanti gruppi come la PFM. PFM è un acronimo di Premiata Forneria Marconi, oppure Le Orme, oppure il Balletto di Bronzo. In Italia la scena progressive Rock negli anni 70 era davvero molto molto florida e questi gruppi italiani venivano ascoltati all'estero, che è una cosa che secondo me oggi non esiste più.

Cioè, forse all'epoca, negli anni 70, ascoltavano più i nostri gruppi italiani rispetto ad adesso. Sicuramente più di quanto adesso all'estero si ascoltino le nostre band ma forse anche i nostri cantanti pop, non lo so a dire il vero. Però sì, era un periodo molto florido per l'Italia ma soprattutto anche in Inghilterra, devo dire l'Inghilterra era il paese dove questo genere di fatto è nato. Anche i Pink Floyd avevano alcune influenze progressive possiamo dire. Ebbene questo gruppo di cui vi dicevo, che in realtà è un gruppo degli anni 90 e 2000 – che è ancora in attività, appunto si chiamano Dream Theater – fa un genere che unisce metal e progressive rock, che è una strana fusione. Vi faccio un esempio di un loro pezzo per farvi capire più o meno di che cosa si tratta.

Ebbene ascoltare questo gruppo ha molto cambiato la mia vita per due motivi, e un motivo è che io a 12 anni iniziai ad andare su internet, andare sui forum per leggere cosa dicevano in fan sul gruppo, per vedere le discussioni che facevano, tutte queste cose che io trovavo molto interessanti. E queste discussioni avvenivano naturalmente in inglese, era tutto in inglese e era un inglese che io capivo con molta difficoltà, a fatica, capiva fatica perché il mio inglese in inglese delle scuole medie, quindi non era affatto facile per me capire. Ma per me era molto interessante e questo mi ha permesso di espormi, non so, di avere un input in lingua inglese davvero molto molto grande. Sì, questo è il mio primo modo, in cui mi ha cambiato la vita, diciamo, ascoltare questo gruppo.

A livello linguistico. Seconda influenza è che questo gruppo aveva – e ha ancora – un tastierista. Cioè, un tastierista… forse sapete cos'è una tastiera, una tastiera è [suoni di tasti]. Questa è una tastiera, una tastiera per computer. Una tastiera come strumento musicale è uno strumento che sembra un po' un pianoforte, di fatto la tastiera sono i tasti bianco e neri o bianchi e neri. Bianconeri bianchi e neri. Ok, potete dire in entrambi i modi. Il pianoforte ha una tastiera. Però ci sono tanti strumenti che hanno una tastiera, l'organo di chiesa ha una tastiera. L'organo elettrico, l'organo Hammond, Hammond Organ ha una tastiera. Ci sono tanti strumenti, la fisarmonica ha una tastiera. La tastiera può essere anche elettronica, che è lo strumento di cui stiamo parlando in questo caso. Ebbene questo gruppo aveva, ha, un tastierista davvero molto bravo, molto virtuoso, non avevo mai visto una cosa del genere. Questo tastierista si chiama Joan rudens e potete cercare su YouTube, magari vi metto uno spezzone, un piccolo spezzone di come suona. È davvero un tastierista ottimo, un pianista anche, davvero, fenomenale virtuosissimo, con una tecnica incredibile.

E la cosa che mi affascinava è che con questo strumento puoi fare davvero qualsiasi cosa, puoi fare qualsiasi suono, puoi farel'orchestra, puoi fare il piano, puoi fare un sintetizzatore, puoi fare, non so, un violino puoi fare un… non lo so, delle campane, puoi fare, puoi essere tutto. puoi fare, emulare qualsiasi suono. E questa cosa mi aveva davvero colpito e poi vedere come suonava lui mi aveva a maggior ragione, cioè ancora di più, mi aveva colpito moltissimo. A differenza di tanti ragazzini che magari ascoltano rock vogliono fare i chitarristi o i cantanti o i batteristi io ero un po' un'eccezione perché volevo fare il tastierista e ci sono pochi tastieristi in circolazione, devo dire la verità, perché ci sono c'è un'inflazione di chitarristi, ci sono tantissimi chitarristi, tantissimi cantanti, ma tastieristi ce ne sono pochissimi, non se ne vede nemmeno l'ombra, che significa che siamo pochissimi.

E allora come si fa a diventare tastierista? C'è una scuola di tastieristi? C'è un corso? Ci sono degli insegnanti? Non sapevo come diventare tastierista e allora quello che abbiamo fatto – e avevo 12 anni 13 anni, quindi con i miei genitori – siamo andati a una scuola di musica, un istituto musicale qui vicino e abbiamo scoperto che facevano corsi di tastiera. Quindi si poteva almeno teoricamente imparare la tastiera, e io ho detto: “Mmm, ma perché no? Mi piace molto questo strumento, magari posso imparare a suonare in questa maniera, come Jordan rudess. Sarebbe interessante, sarebbe molto divertente”. In realtà poi devo dire che io mi sono iscritto a questa scuola di musica, ho iniziato a frequentare i corsi di musica, ma il professore in realtà non ne sapeva così tanto di tastiere, non era un esperto di tastiere, era un pianista eccezionale, davvero un pianista fantastico.

E quello che ha fatto è… lui mi ha promesso di insegnarmi a suonare la tastiera, in un certo senso mi ha un po' ingannato, perché io non ho mai imparato a suonare la tastiera, perché di fatto fin da subito ho iniziato imparare pianoforte, pianoforte classico, quindi a imparare, non so i sonetti, gli studi… con il passare degli anni [ho iniziato] a suonare Bach… (“bac”, diciamo noi), Mozart o, non lo so… piano classico, quindi musica classica. E non era davvero il mio interesse iniziale, poi devo dire che con il tempo mi ha iniziato a piacere molto anche questo genere musicale, che sicuramente è un genere musicale vastissimo. Però io non sono mai stato un fan totale della musica classica, cioè a me è sempre piaciuto il rock e il metal e il progressive rock e il progressive metal, ed è ciò che ascolto ancora oggi con piacere. Poi devo dire che adesso ascolto cose diverse, mi piace ascoltare generi diversi e devo dire che anche grazie al fatto che ho iniziato a ascoltare questo gruppo, i Dream Theater, che di per sé hanno tante influenze musicali, che ha aperto molto la mia… i miei orizzonti e i miei gusti musicali e ho iniziato ad ascoltare tanti generi diversi.

Penso che senza di loro magari ascolterai musica pop, e non c'è nulla di male nell'ascoltare musica pop, se vi piace il pop ascoltate il pop, a me non piace il pop, quasi per nulla, il pop contemporaneo non mi attira per nulla, non fa per me, lo trovo l'altro generalmente abbastanza banale, con qualche eccezione, ma musicalmente non interessante. Ed è una cosa di cui mi lamento sempre e Erika lo sa molto bene, mi lamento molto della banalità della musica pop, a maggior ragione la musica pop italiana, ma anche quella internazionale musicalmente è molto molto ripetitiva. E quindi non l'ascolto di fatto, ed è anche per questo che quando mi chiedono di consigliare musica pop [italiana] io sono sempre un po', diciamo, in difficoltà perché non so mai… non ascolto musica pop, di fatto, quindi non so mai che cosa consigliare.

Quindi ho iniziato a imparare il pianoforte classico, ho fatto anche alcune esibizioni, che noi chiamiamo i “saggi”. Un saggio è… sapete la parola “assaggiare”? Beh, saggio è simile perché “saggiare”, o “un saggio” significa una sorta di prova, un saggio delle abilità di una persona. Quando uno fa una scuola di musica, ma anche una scuola di danza o di altre discipline artistiche a fine anno di solito c'è un saggio, ovvero un'esibizione di tutti gli allievi che di fronte ai genitori di tutti gli allievi devono suonare questo saggio. Era sempre un momento molto… diciamo, per me di nervosismo e di ansia, perché sì, io ho sempre avuto paura di esibirmi e anche di parlare in pubblico e non mi è mai piaciuto farlo molto, devo dire. Però sì, l'ho fatto per diversi anni. Parallelamente ai miei studi di pianoforte classico però io ho indipendentemente – dato che il mio professore, il mio maestro non mi aiutava – sviluppato il mio lato di tastierista, che in fin dei conti era quello che volevo fare fin dall'inizio. Quindi ho iniziato a imparare da solo cercando su internet, guardando video su YouTube, tutorial, lezioni, [su] come si diventa tastieristi- come si sviluppano, come si creano questi suoni.

C'è tutto un mondo che ruota attorno alle tastiere, un mondo molto interessante di creazione di suoni, diciamo, ci sono tanti aspetti molto interessanti e purtroppo i tastieristi sono sempre… hanno sempre un ruolo abbastanza minore, almeno nella musica pop, hanno sempre un ruolo abbastanza minore. Ma in realtà le tastiere sono uno strumento che ha potenzialità infinite, perché come ho detto la tastiera può fare qualsiasi suono. In realtà al giorno d'oggi sempre più spesso… non sono nemmeno le tastiere che creano i suoni, ma sono i computer alle quali le tastiere sono collegate. Quindi praticamente tu suoni delle note sulla tastiera ma il segnale va praticamente a un computer con un software.

È il software che di fatto crea i suoni e questo si fa perché… beh, i computer sono più potenti, abbiamo computer come i Mac, MacBook Pro che sono molto utilizzati perché sono più potenti di quanto possa essere una tastiera e per questo motivo, se fate attenzione, potrete vedere che molti musicisti, molti tastieristi usano proprio i computer per suonare dal vivo.i I computer sono ovunque nel nostro mondo, anche nei concerti dal vivo. Quindi ho sviluppato quel lato lì, il lato del tastierista e ho anche fatto parte di alcuni gruppi musicali di vario genere, adesso non so quanti esattamente, penso quattro… tre o quattro gruppi musicali e ho fatto alcuni concerti.

Devo dire, non ho fatto parte di tantissimi gruppi, non ho mai suonato molto, forse anche un po' per la mia personalità un po' introversa e non ho neanche fatto così tanti concerti penso, non so esattamente, forse 10 o 15 nella mia vita in totale, non lo so. Però devo dire che è molto bello fare concerti, è una cosa che un po' mi manca, perché era davvero divertente. Fare concerti è sicuramente meglio, almeno per me, di fare esibizioni da solo, da solista, come nei saggi di cui vi parlavo prima, perché quando sei in gruppo la pressione si scarica su tutti, si divide tra tutti e in questo modo sì, è un po' un po' più facile, ci si sente meno sotto pressione, individualmente parlando, e ci si diverte molto poi perché c'è anche questa questa “chemistry”, questa come dire… non so neanche come dire in italiano, ci si diverte molto in gruppo per il fatto che, appunto si è in gruppo e si sta facendo qualcosa di molto adrenalinico, ed è una cosa molto molto divertente che un po' mi manca, come ho detto.

In ogni caso sì, ho fatto un po' di concerti, ci sono anche dei video. Un'esperienza interessante che ho fatto una volta, e questo non è un concerto con un gruppo, ma da solo in realtà. Una volta ho suonato in un contest per artisti, diciamo, emergenti, un contest che esiste, diciamo, dalle mie parti, non lontano dalla mia città, nella cui giuria -“giuria” è praticamente come “jury” in inglese, le persone che giudicano gli artisti e che decidono chi premiare alla fine della serata. I vincitori riceveranno un premio, credo dei soldi, proprio. Iin questa giuria c'era Mogol. Se non sapete chi è Mogol, è un cantautore italiano, uno che ha scritto molte canzoni famose di cantanti famosi degli anni 70-80 italiani, che ormai è una persona anziana, e lui faceva parte della giuria e giudicava le esibizioni degli artisti. Io praticamente avevo fatto domanda di partecipazione a questo concorso con un pezzo strumentale di sole tastiere, potete immaginare che era una cosa abbastanza particolare, fuori dal comune, tra l'altro potete ancora ascoltare la mia musica su SoundCloud vi mando un link, vi lascio un link magari nella descrizione, se vi interessa. E questo pezzo si chiamava “Lithe Fluctuation”, un nome molto strano come è normale che sia per un pezzo progressive, il genere che come vi ho detto, piace a me.

Ed è un pezzo di 10 minuti, quindi potete capire che 10 minuti è uno sproposito, uno sproposito significa che assolutamente troppo per un contest del genere, dove le persone che facevano pezzi di 3 minuti 4 minuti.
