Pronouns
There are FIVE types of personal pronouns in Irish:
1.SUBJECT PRONOUNS
Mé = I |
Chonaic mé mo chara = I saw my friend |
Tú = you |
An ndearna tú an dinnéar? = Did you make the dinner? |
Sé= he |
Bhí sé anseo = He was here |
Sí = she |
Tá sí ina cónaí i mBaile Átha Luain = She lives in Athlone |
Muid = we |
Feicfidh muid = We will see |
Sibh = you (plural) |
An bhfaca sibh an scannán? Did you plural see the film? |
Siad = they |
Dúirt siad go raibh tú tinn! They said that you were sick! |
2.OBJECT PRONOUNS
Mé= I |
Chonaic Máirtín mé = Martin saw me |
Thú= you |
An bhfeicfidh mé thú amárach? = Will I see you tomorrow? |
É= he |
Rinne mé é = I did it |
Í = she |
Ba mhaith liom í a fhoghlaim = I would like to learn it |
Muid = we |
Feicfidh tú muid ar an teilifís = You will see us on the television |
Sibh = you (plural) |
Nár chuala sé sibh? = Didn’t he hear you plural? |
Iad = they |
D’ith mé iad! = I ate them! |
3. COPULA PRONOUNS
Mé = I |
Is múinteoir mé = I am a teacher |
Thú = you |
Is Éireannach thú = You are Irish |
É = he |
Is Sasanach é = He is English |
Í = she |
Is Brasaíleach í = She is Brazilian |
Muid = we |
Is Meiriceánaigh muid = We are Americans |
Sibh = you plural |
Is daltaí sibh = You are students |
Iad = they |
Is Iodálaigh iad = They are Italians |
4. POSSESSIVE PRONOUNS
My, Your, and His take a séimhiú: (bh,ch,dh,fh,gh,mh,ph,sh,th)
Our, Your and Their take an urú: (mb,gc,nd,dt,ng,bp,bhf)

5. PREPOSITIONAL PRONOUNS
