THE SOLDIER AND HIS HORSE
الجندي وحصانه
A Soldier gave his Horse a plentiful supply of oats in time of war, and tended him with the utmost care, for he wished him to be strong to endure the hardships of the field, and swift to bear his master, when need arose, out of the reach of danger.
أعطى جندي حصانه كمية وفيرة من الشوفان في وقت الحرب، واهتم به بأقصى قدر من العناية، لأنه أراده أن يكون قوياً لتحمل مصاعب الميدان، وسريعاً في حمل سيده، عندما تنشأ الحاجة، بعيداً عن متناول الخطر.
En temps de guerre, un soldat donnait à son cheval une abondante provision d'avoine et le soignait avec le plus grand soin, car il souhaitait qu'il soit fort pour supporter les épreuves du champ de bataille et prompt à porter son maître, lorsque le besoin s'en faisait sentir, hors de portée du danger.
But when the war was over he employed him on all sorts of drudgery, bestowing but little attention upon him, and giving him, moreover, nothing but chaff to eat.
