Ciao a tutti da Francesca che vi parla sul podcast “Al dente”. A proposito, mi state ascoltando tramite la nuova App Podclub? È pratica, vero? La potete scaricare gratis da App Store o google play! Allora, oggi è il 5 dicembre e sono molto felice di potervi annunciare la vincitrice del concorso della puntata n. 50! È stata una lotteria in piena regola, eh! A ogni persona che ha indovinato il nome del mio cane Giada è stato dato un numero. Quindi abbiamo messo i numeri in un sacchetto, e mio figlio Luca ne ha estratti [1] due. Poi ho preso questi due numeri e ne ho messo uno nella mano sinistra e uno nella mano destra. A questo punto ho chiamato il mio cane e ho detto a lei di scegliere, con la zampa! Bene, allora, attenzione: il nome scelto da Giada è quello di Monika, dal cantone Argovia, che vince una bottiglia di Brunello e un pacco di pasta senese! Congratulazioni a Monika, ma anche grazie di cuore a tutti quelli che hanno partecipato! E veniamo ai temi di oggi. Prima di tutto vi parlerò di traduzioni non proprio felici [2]. Poi vi racconterò una notizia a proposito di una ragazza che sogna di entrare in polizia; e per finire vi racconterò un'antica leggenda legata a una donna senese vissuta più di 700 anni fa. Cari ascoltatori, io ho la fortuna di vivere in un paese multilingue, la Svizzera, ed è molto bello poter avere, per esempio, tante etichette di prodotti nelle tre lingue nazionali: tedesco, francese e italiano. Nel quartiere dove vivo, poi, ci sono molti abitanti che vengono dall'Europa e da altre parti del mondo… È frequente quindi trovare in giro cartelli scritti anche in inglese. Nella maggior parte dei casi devo dire che le traduzioni sono buone, molto migliori di quelle che si trovano in Italia. Ma da quando si usano i traduttori elettronici, per esempio su Internet, beh… ci sono risultati davvero buffi [3]. Un esempio è il cartello appeso nel mio garage, scritto in tedesco e inglese. Ora, io l'inglese non lo so tanto bene, però ho sentito subito che qualcosa non va. Dunque, il cartello in tedesco dice: “Attenzione, chiudere la porta con la mano perché non si chiude da sola; c'è pericolo di furti”. La traduzione in inglese invece suona più o meno così: “Attenzione, porta non è indipendente, chiudi con mano, ladro!” Sì, parla direttamente all'eventuale ladro, che dopo essere entrato deve aver cura di chiudere bene. Immagino le risate della mia vicina australiana, quando l'ha letto… Ma forse molti di voi hanno visto ultimamente quella che è un'autentica “chicca” sugli scaffali di un famoso supermercato: un prodotto nuovo, speciale, che in tedesco è un “burro svizzero indicato per gli arrosti”, mentre nelle traduzioni in francese e in italiano diventa un “burro indicato per arrostire gli svizzeri”! Addirittura un prodotto per cannibali… Beh, beh, questa è un pochino grossa! Cosa avranno pensato gli amici romandi e ticinesi? Eh, sicuramente si saranno fatti una bella risata. Beh, a me viene voglia di usare l'olio di oliva. Comunque, cari amici, attenzione alle traduzioni, okay? Meglio usare un buon dizionario e magari chiedere a un madrelingua, se non siamo proprio sicuri.

Cari amici, stavolta sul giornale ho letto una notizia abbastanza curiosa che vi voglio raccontare. Voi sapete che cos'è la Guardia di Finanza? È il corpo militare più antico dello stato italiano e si occupa, fra l'altro, di combattere reati [4] contro la pubblica amministrazione, il contrabbando [5], il traffico di droga, ecc. È una delle 5 forze di polizia italiane. Le altre sono l'Arma dei Carabinieri, la Polizia di Stato, la Polizia Penitenziaria [6] e il Corpo Forestale dello Stato. Bene, per entrare a far parte della Guardia di Finanza, come anche per le altre forze di polizia, bisogna fare un concorso e avere certi requisiti [7]. Allora, immaginate di essere una ragazza siciliana di 24 anni, di chiamarvi Concetta Gambacorta e di avere un sogno: quello d'indossare [8] l'uniforme della Guardia di Finanza. Bene, vi preparate con cura per gli esami, studiate… Il giorno del concorso andate a Roma, fate i test teorici e li passate molto bene… E poi si viene ai test psico-fisici. Tra le altre cose, dovete sapere che per poter entrare in un corpo di polizia, ci vogliono dei requisiti particolari. Ad esempio, una donna deve essere alta almeno 1.61 m. Bene, Concetta sa di avere questo requisito ed è sicura di non avere problemi al riguardo. E invece, quando all'esame misurano la sua altezza, cosa viene fuori? 1.59 m. Ma com'è possibile? direte voi. Guardate, non lo so nemmeno io. Insomma, Concetta Gambacorta (il nome è tutto un programma) per due cm. è fuori dal concorso. Ma lei non ci sta [9]. Sicura che si tratti di un errore, Concetta fa ricorso [10] e dopo qualche tempo ottiene un'altra misurazione. Io m'immagino la scena, degna veramente di una commedia all'italiana: all'ospedale militare, presenti il colonnello della Guardia di Finanza, l'avvocato di Concetta e un collegio di medici a fare da giudice, Concetta viene misurata di nuovo. Risultato? La ragazza risulta alta 1 m. 61 cm e 3 millimetri. Alé! La ragazza sapeva di aver ragione! Nel frattempo Concetta si è laureata [11] in economia. Chissà se il suo concorso per la Guardia di Finanza andrà bene. Certo è che… la ragazza sarà piccolina, ma di carattere ne ha da vendere!

Cari ascoltatori, per raccontarvi la storia di Pia de' Tolomei, oggi vi porto nella Maremma senese. La conoscete? Prima di tutto, vediamo dov'è. È una zona che, come dice il nome – Maremma – si trova vicino al mare, e oggi è in provincia di Grosseto. È una regione molto bella, selvatica, ma un tempo era paludosa [12], e quindi pericolosa a causa della malaria. Allora, è in questa natura selvaggia che dovete immaginare la storia che vi sto per raccontare. Nelle fredde notti d'inverno della Maremma, con il vento che batte impetuoso [13] contro i grandi alberi antichi, la sentite anche voi una voce di donna che si lamenta? È Pia, che piange la sua triste sorte [14]. Il suo fantasma si aggira solitario intorno alle rovine del Castel di Pietra o sopra a un ponte medievale… Brrr, mi vengono i brividi! Allora, dovete sapere che Pia era una donna giovane e bella, ed era rimasta vedova di un cavaliere senese della nobile famiglia dei Tolomei. Nel 1280 si era risposata con un altro uomo, molto più vecchio di lei, Nello Pannocchieschi, conte del Castello della Pietra. Si tratta di una storia molto controversa [15] e gli studiosi non sono d'accordo. Secondo alcuni, Nello era molto geloso di Pia e pensava che lei avesse un amante. Secondo altri, il Conte della Pietra si era invaghito di un'altra donna, una certa Margherita Aldobrandeschi, che voleva sposare (e che in effetti sposò dopo la morte di Pia). Fatto sta, Pia viene accusata da Nello e mandata via da Siena nel solitario Castello della Pietra, in Maremma. La giovane donna, tristissima, parte da Siena, attraversa le campagne e i boschi; dopo una ventina di chilometri attraversa un ponte medievale, che ancora oggi si chiama Ponte della Pia, e dopo altre ore di cammino arriva infine al castello dove troverà la morte poco dopo. Si ammalò di malaria? Si suicidò per il dolore? Oppure venne uccisa dal marito? E perché? Davvero perché Nello voleva risposarsi oppure per motivi di soldi, visto che Pia era ricca? Non si può sapere con certezza. Ma la storia della Pia è stata resa immortale [16] dai versi di Dante, il poeta che all'inizio del Trecento, nel suo poema “La Divina Commedia” immagina di incontrare nell'aldilà [17] l'anima della nobile senese. Nel quinto canto del Purgatorio, Dante fa parlare Pia, che gli dice queste parole piene di malinconia: “Ricorditi di me che son la Pia Siena mi fé, disfecemi Maremma”… Che oggi sarebbe: “Ricordati di me, che sono la Pia: Siena mi ha fatto, mi ha ucciso la Maremma”. E dopo tanti e tanti secoli, la memoria di questi fatti crudeli e di questa donna gentile, dal triste destino, vive ancora intatta nella poesia, nella musica del celebre musicista Gaetano Donizetti, che gli dedicò un'opera, e perfino in una moderna canzone di Gianna Nannini, senese come Pia… ma soprattutto nei racconti della gente che parla di una dama tutta vestita di bianco, il viso coperto da un velo… un fantasma, che nelle notti senza luna,vaga silenziosa, senza toccare terra, e si ferma su un ponte medievale, sulla strada che porta in Maremma...
