ep.212/壮絶 引っ越し ストーリー ①

さて 、「4989 アメリカン 引っ越し ライフ 」と いう こと で 、

ここ 1ヶ月 くらい 私 たち 夫婦 の 引っ越し の 模様 を 色々 お 話して います が 、

前回 の エピソード で 予想 した 通り 、1週間 Podcast を お休み を させて いただきました 。

ちょうど 、荷物 を まとめて パッキング して 、アパート の 掃除 を して 退去 を して 、トラック に 荷物 を 積んで 新しい 場所 へ 引っ越す という ね 、

怒涛 の 1週間 だった んです よ 。

Instagram で は 写真 を その 時々 で あげたり 、状況 を リアルタイム で ご 報告 して いました けど 、

とにかく 大変 でした 。

本当に 。

ここ 5年 10年 とか で 、1番 、体 、体調 に 逆らって 、無理 して 自分 の 体 を 動かして 何とか やり 切った って いう 状態 です ね 。

結果 的に は 、無事 引っ越し 先 に 到着 し まして 、今 は 落ち着いて 本当に ほっと して います 。

本当に 、心から ほっと して いる 。

途中 、これ は もう 無理な ので は ない か と 、予定 通り に は いかない ので は ない か と 心 折れ そうに なった んです が 、

結果 、全て うまく いきました 。

はい 、今日 の エピソード で は 、この 怒涛 の 1週間 、壮絶 引っ越し ストーリー を お 話し したい と 思います 。

★パッキング /掃除 /退去

はい 、今回 の 壮絶 引っ越し ストーリー を 時系列 で 、いろいろ どんな 感じ だった か 、何 が あった か を お 話し して いきたい と 思います 。

まず 月曜日 。

翌日 の 火曜日 に は 引っ越し トラック を ピックアップ して きて 荷物 を 積み込む 予定 であった ので 、パッキング の 大詰め の 日 でした ね 。

同じ アパート に 5年間 住んだ のです が 、5年 って 長い です けど ね 、

夫婦 2人 だけ で 、どうして こんなに 荷物 が ある のって くらい もの が 溢れて いて です ね 、パッキング とても 大変でした 。

パッキング が 大変 と いう より かは 、仕分け が 大変 で 、

どれ を 捨てる か 、どれ を 取って おく か という ね 。

さらに は 私 たち の 今回 の 状況 と いう の が とても 特殊 だった ので 、それ が 仕分け を より ややこしく している 原因 でした 。

今回 、私たち は まず この 先 2ヶ月 位 の 予定 で 一時的に ルームシェア 、ハウスシェア のような 形 で 、仮 の 住まい に 滞在する 予定です 。

もう 、既に 移動 は 完了 して いて 、今 ここ 、その 家 から 収録 している んです が 。

一軒家 なん です けど 、家 自体 は 大きい のです が 、私たち 夫婦 の 部屋 は とても 小さくて 、

と 言う 事 は もちろん 持って いける 荷物 の 量 が 限られる ので 、極力 いらない もの は 処分 し たかった ん です 。

だが しかし 。

この 一時的な 、仮 の 住まい を 出た 後 、私たち の 希望 としては 8月 末 を めどに 自分たち で アパート を 借りて 、

今後 長く 住む 場所 に ね 、引っ越したい と 考えて います 。

その 時 の こと を 考える と 、処分 せ ず に 保管 して おか なければならない 荷物 も たくさん あって 、

例えば 、ダイニング テーブル と か 、キッチン の 作業台 の ような カート と か 、ちょっと した 本棚 みたいな ラック と か 。

シェアハウス の 環境 で は 別に いらない けど 、今後 自分たち で アパート を 見つけて 住む とき に 、まっさらな 何も ない アパート で 生活 を 改めて 始める って 考える と 、

あ 、あれ も 残して おいた 方が 良い な 、これ も やっぱり 取って おか なきゃ 困る よ ね 。 みたい な 。

と いう もの が たくさん あって 、

その 取捨 選択 が 大変だった し 、夫婦 間 の 意見 を 合わせる の と かも 大変でした 。

私 たち を 悩ま せた の が 、その 、この 先 自分 たち で アパート を 借りて 住む とき に 十分な 資金 が あれば ね 、

そ ー ゆ ーダイニングテーブル だ と か 、 キッチン 用品 だ と か 、 いろいろな 他の 家具 と かね 、 日用 品 と かも 、

もう 一 度 買い 揃えれば 良いって いう 話 なんですけど 、

ま ぁ 私 たち の この 引っ越し の 理由 、ここ 最近 の エピソード で お話し してます が 、

旦那 さん が 大学院 で 勉強 を する という こと で 、学生 に 戻ります 。

旦那 さん も パート タイム の 仕事 を する 予定 だ し 、私 も もちろん 、何かしら 仕事 を 見つけて 働きます けど 、

世帯 収入 は これ まで より も 減って しまう と 思います し 、授業料 学費 も かかります し 、

そういった こと を 考える と 、

引っ越し して 、家具 や 生活 雑貨 を 全部 新しい もの に 買い 換える ！ なんて いう ブルジョア の 事 は 私 たち に は 到底 無理な ので 、

どれ を 取って おく 、どれ を 処分 する 、その 選択 が 今回 とっても 難しかった です 。

はい 、で パッキング なん です が 、

予定 で は 、月曜日 の 午後 に は 全部 パッキング が 終わって いて 、家 の 中 の 大掃除 を やって いる 予定 だった んです よ 。

ま ぁ 、そんな 予定 通り に 進む はず も なく 、夜 遅く まで パッキング 作業 を やって いました 。

ここ で です ね 、私 の 体調 に 変化 が 訪れた わけです 。

寒い 。

私 たち が この 住んで いた エリア って いう の が 、夏 でも 結構 涼しい エリア だった ので 寒く 感じる こと とかも 珍しく なかった ん です けど 、

そういう 寒さ じゃ ない んです よ 。

間違い なく これ は 熱 が 出る なって わかる 悪寒 が しました 。

月曜日 の 夜 遅く 。

なんか 、寒い なぁ 。 寒い なぁ 。

体 の 節々 が 痛い なぁ 。 痛い なぁ 。

おかしい なぁ 。 寒い なぁ 。 寒い なぁ 。

と 。

もう そう 思った とき に は アウト です よね 。

本当に 、やる こと まだまだ たくさん ある けど 、作業 して いられ なく なっちゃって 、

「ちょっと ごめん 、少し 横 に なる わ 。」

ていって 、ユニクロ の ダウン を 着て 、寝袋 に 包まりました 。

そう 、熱 が 絶対 出る 。 体調 や ばい 。 って いう 状況 な のに 、

引っ越し 直前 だから もう ベット が なかった ん です よ 。

この 数 日 前 から 私たち 夫婦 、既に 寝袋 生活 、家 の 中 で キャンプ 生活 の 状態 を 送って まして 、

この 時 も とりあえず 寝袋 で その辺 の 床 に 転がる って いう m そういう 状況 でした 。

少し 休憩 して 、全然 ご飯 を 食べて いなかった ので 、ちょうど 友達 から もらった カップ ラーメン が あった ので それ を 食べた んです よ 。

やっぱり ね 、体調 が 悪い とき の あったかい スープ 系 の ごはん って いう の は 体 に 染みます ねぇ 。

しかも それ が にんにく バリバリ に 聞いた と ん こつ ラーメン だった んですけど 、おいしかった 上に すごい 元気 が 出て 、

そこ から また 作業 を 続ける こと が できました 。

月曜日 の 夜 に は 、その 翌日 朝 早く に トラック を 取り に 行って その 積み込み 作業 と その後 に カーペットクリーニング が 来る 予定 に なっていた ので 、

それ に 支障 が ない 程度 に 、状態 まで なんとか 持っていって 、で 、寝ました 。 床 に ね 。 寝袋 で ね 。

翌日 火曜日 。

朝一 で 引っ越し の トラック を ピックアップ に 行きました 。

アメリカ で は U-Haul って いう レンタル トラック 会社 が 自分たち で 引っ越し を する 人たち に は 1番 人気 だ と 思う んです けど 、

いろいろ 値段 と か 空き 状況 を 調べて 、今回 私 たち は Penske と 言う 会社 の トラック を レンタル しました 。

家 の 近く の 営業所 で 借りる よりも 、少し 遠く の 、少し 離れた 営業所 で 借りた 方が 値段 が とても 安かった ので 、私たち は そっち を 選んだ んです が 、

朝 6時 に 家 を 出て 、7時 前 に 営業所 に 着いて トラック を 借りて 、

旦那 さん が トラック を 運転 して 、私 が 私の 車 を 運転 して 、8時 少し 前 に 家 に 戻ってきました 。

カーペットクリーニング の 予定 が お 昼 の 12時 だった ので 、

4時間 で トラック に 全部 荷物 の 積み込み こんで 、積み込み を 完了 すべく 、作業 を スタート させました 。

最悪 ね 、カーペットクリーニング の 邪魔に なら なければ 良い ので 、

とりあえず 家 から 荷物 を 庭 と か 外 に 出して しまえば いい と は わかって いた んです けど 、

できる だけ トラック に もう 積んじゃった ほうが 後々 楽な ので ね 、がんばりました 。

この 時点 で 、私 の 体調 、最悪 で 。

制限 時間 が ある 作業 な ので 、とにかく やら なければ ならない ので 、熱 を 測ったり とかもしません でした が 、

この 時 も かなり 熱 が 高かった と 思います 。

で 、うち の 旦那さん が ね 、こーゆー 引っ越し の トラック に 荷物 を 積んだり とか 、

例えば 普段 で 言う と 、キャンプ に 行く 時 に 車 に キャンプ 道具 を 積んだり とか 、

そういう の が 得意 な ん です よ 。

いろいろ 考え ながら 隙間 を うまく 埋めて いく 感じ で 。

数 年 前 に お 友達 家族 の 引っ越し を お手伝い した こと が あった んです が 、その 時 に うち の 旦那さん が その スキル を 遺憾なく 発揮して 、

「テトリス T 」という 名前 を いただきました 。

うち の 旦那さん は 学校 とか で 職場 で 、日本語 の 名字 な ので みんな 呼びにくい って いう の も あって 、頭文字 の イニシャル の T で 、 Mr. T って 呼ばれてる んです けど 、

そこ に 、パズル ゲーム の ように 荷物 を どんどん 埋めて いく 様子 から 、

テトリス を つけて 「テトリス T 」と 呼ば れ る よう に なりました 。

そんな 旦那さん は 今回 の 私たち の 引っ越し でも 、その テトリス T の スキル で ね 、トラック に どんどん 荷物 を 詰めて いったんですけど 、

問題 は 、私 たち 夫婦 2人 だけ の 2馬力 の 作業 だった ので 、

テトリス T が トラック の 中 で テトリス 作業 を する と言う 事 は つまり 、もう 片方 の 私 が 家 の 中 から トラック まで 段ボール や 荷物 を 運ぶ 係 な わけです よ 。

さっき も 言いました が 、なんで 夫婦 2人 なのに こんな 荷物 が ある の か なって いう 位 荷物 が たくさん あって 、

わからない 、見る 人 が 見れば 全然 少ない 数 だった の かも しれません けど 、

体調 激悪 の 私 から したら 、果てしない 数 の 段ボール を 運んで 、死ぬ か と 思いました 。

ほんとに 途中 で もう 動け なく なって 、四 つん 這い に なって 止まったり とか 、

常に ゼーゼー 激しい 息 を し ながら 、なんとか 終えました 。

その後 、カーペットクリーニング の 業者 が 来て 、家 の 中 の カーペット 部分 を きれいに して くれた んです けど 、

基本 的に は 乾く まで は 家 の 中 に 入れ ない んです よね 。

私 たち が 住んで いた アパート って いう の が 、キッチン と トイレ 以外 家 の 中 全て が カーペット だった ので 、

そう 、私 ほんとに この アメリカ の 全部 カーペット って いう の ほんとに 嫌い な ん です けど 、

とにかく 玄関 入って 、もう すぐに カーペット って いう 造り だった ので 、

業者 の 作業 中 、そして その後 は ランチ 休憩 を して 少し 時間 を 置こう と いう こと に なりました 。

私 が ファストフード の ハンバーガー を 買い に 行って 戻って きて 、

じゃ ぁ 食べよう かって なった ん です けど 、

もう ね 、ダメ な ん です よ 。

食べる 気 が しない 、食欲 が 全く なくて 、それ より も 悪寒 と 、体 も 全身 痛くて 、座って いる こと すら 辛くて 。

この 日 すごい 晴れて て 、気温 も 高かった んです けど 、それ でも ほんと 寒くて 、

結局 、家 の 中 に も 入れ ない し 、車 の 中 で 少し 休憩 を とりました 。

車 の 中 で ちょっと 座席 を 倒して 毛布 に くるまって 寝てた んです が 全然 駄目で 、

この後 熱 を 測ったら 、39度 2分 、アメリカ の 単位 だ と 102度 ちょっと かな 。

で 、え 、これって 、もし かして コロナ な んじゃ ない ？ って 。

今 コロナ に なったら 、オワター

って 心配 した ん です が 、

セルフ です けど テスト したら 陰性 で 、それ は ひとまず 胸 を 撫で下ろしました 。

とりあえず 解熱 の ため の タイレノール を 飲んで 、

キッチン の 床 に 寝袋 に くるまって 熱 下がります ように 熱 下がります ように と 祈り ながら 休息 を とりました 。

この 時点 で 、ほとんど の 荷物 は もう トラック に 積み込み が 完了 して いて 、

家 の 中 の カーペット 部分 の 掃除 も 完了 している 状態 だった んです が 、

キッチン と 、バス ルーム の 掃除 が まだ 全然 できて いません でした 。

一 番 大変な ところ 、 残ってる よ ね 〜。

私 が 休憩 して いる 間 も 旦那さん は 掃除 を 進めて くれて 、

で 、私 も 少し 休憩 を したら 幾分 良く なった ので 掃除 に 参加 しました 。

スケジュール が ね 、本当に カツカツ だった んです よ 。

これ が 火曜日 でしょ 、

翌 、水曜日 の 朝 イチ に もう プロパティーマネージメント の インスペクション 、退去 時 の 立ち会い 検査 って いう ん です か 、家 の 中 を 見て 回る 検査 の 予定 が あった ので 、

もう この 火曜日 に 基本的に は 全部 掃除 を 終わらせ なければ いけなかった のです が 、

と同時に 、睡眠 を この 夜 は しっかり と 取る 必要 も ありました 。

その 立ち会い 検査 が 終わったら 、その すぐ 後 に もう 引っ越し 先 に 向けて 移動 する 予定 だった んです よね 。

夫 が トラック を 運転 して 、私 が 私の 車 を 運転 して 、2台 を 2人 で 運転 して 行く という こと で 、

眠く なって も 体調 が 悪く なって も 運転 を 交代 する 人 が いない 状態 な ので 、

この 火曜日 の 夜 は できる だけ 早く 寝て 睡眠 を とら なければ ならない な と 考えて いました 。

フラフラ に なり ながら 冷蔵庫 の 中 全部 洗って 拭いて 、冷蔵庫 動かして 冷蔵庫 の 裏 とか 、その 床 とか 拭いたり 、

オーブン 、ガス 台 を 全部 きれいに して 、これ また 動かして 、その 裏 とかも 全部 きれいに したり

シンク も きれいに したり 。

わかってる ん です よ 。

普段 から きれいに して いれば こんなに 時間 を かける こと も ない んです が 、

私 は 「クイーンオブ 、ナマケモノ 選手権 」が あれば 入賞 できる んじゃないかって くらい 、

ほんとに 普段 は 怠け者 で 掃除 と か しっかり し ない ので 、

こういう 時 に ツケ が 回って くる ん です よね 。

自業自得 。

どうにか 最低 限 きれいに して 、

予定 より か は 遅く なりました けど 、それ でも ここ 数 日 で は 早めに 寝る こと が できました 。

熱って ね 、 夜 に 高く なる 傾向 が ある ので 、

今回 の 私 の ケース も 例外 で は なく 、この 日 寝る 時 も 悪寒 が やばくて 、タイレノール を 更に 摂取 して 震え ながら とりあえず 寝ました 。

床 に ね 。 寝袋 で ね 。

で 。 翌日 さらなる 地獄 が 待って いる と は 知ら ず に …。

ま ぁ 寝た わけです 。

引っ越し 日 当日 、水曜日 。

朝 起きた 時 は 、体中 が 痛い の と 、だるい と 言う の は ありました が 、熱 は 下がって いて ほっと した の を 覚えて います 。

退去 の 立ち会い 検査 、インスペクション は 9時 の 予定 だった んです が 、

まだ 最後 の 追い込み で 掃除 を する ところ が いくつか 残って いた ので 、それ を 引き続き 作業 しました 。

インスペクション は 時間 が 押して 結局 10時 過ぎ だった んです けど 、

いや 、無事 って 言う の か な 。

いくつか 指摘 事項 が あって 、もう ちょっと 掃除 して ください と 言われた ところ が あったり 、

最終 的に ゴミ が たくさん 出て しまった ので 、ダンプスター が いっぱいに なって しまった の 指摘 されたり とか しました 。

入居 時 の デポジット が どの くらい 戻って くる の か 、もしくは 何 か 追加 で チャージ される とか は 、まだ 結果 分かりません が 、

できる だけ の 事 は この 状況 下 で やった んじゃないか な と 思います 。

はい 、インスペクション も 終わり 、鍵 も 返却 し 、

二 日間 猫 たち を 預かって もらって いた ので ピックアップ に 行き 、

いよいよ 新居 に 向かって 移動 と なりました 。
