先日 、私たち 夫婦 の 友達 、マット が 我が家 に 遊び に きて くれました 。 この ポッドキャスト でも 何 回 も 話して いる ん です が 、 毎年 、 主に 年 末 年始 あたり に 会う サンディエゴ に 住んで いる 友達 で 、

私 たち が サンディエゴ に 遊び に 行く こと が 多い んです けど 、

今回 は 家族 の 集まり で 私たち の 家 の 近く まで 来る 予定 が ある と いう こと で 、その 帰り に 寄って くれました 。 マット と 会う 度 に 思う ん です けど 、 ほんと 、 いい 意味 で 全然 気 を 使わ なくて い いい 、 一緒に 過ごして いて 楽な 、 居心地 の 良い 友達 だ なって 思います 。 やっぱり いい なぁ って 改めて 思った の が 、 マット って 元々 うち の 旦那さん の 大学時代 の 友達 で 、もう 2人 が 20歳 と かね 、そのくらい から の 友達 なんです よ 。 友達 付き合い が 続いて いる くらい なんで お互い 気 が 合う んでしょう ね 、

なんか どう しよう も ない 話 から 大学 時代 の 昔話 から 、ちょっと 真面目な 話 まで 、とにかく ずっと 話し を してて 、

私 は 横 で そんな 2 人 を 見て いて 、ちょっと 嬉しい んです よね 、

なんて いう んです か ね 、上手く 説明 でき ないで すけど 、

楽し そうだ な ーって 。 とにかく ずーっと 話してました ね 、2 人 。 私 も 聞いて て 楽しい んです よ 。 楽しい って いう か 新鮮 って いう か 。 普段 私 と は 話さ ない ような 内容 を 話して て 、

例えば 私 が 知らない アメリカ の ミュージシャン の 話 とか 、政治 の 話 とか 。

旦那 さん 繋がり の 友達 で は ある んです が 、もう 私 も 付き合い が 長い ので 、

話す の も 別に 緊張 しない し 、我が家 に 来て くれる 時 も 気疲れ する こと も ない し 、逆に マット の 家 に 遊び に 行った 時 も 気 を 遣って 大変 って こと も ない し 、良い 関係 です 。

と 思ってます 、私 は 。 夫婦 で 気兼ね なく 付き合える 友達 って 、やはり 歳 を 重ねる ごと に 少なく なって いって 、 今 ね 、住んで いる エリア でも 普段 一緒に 飲み 会 を する 友達 夫婦 や 、気 が 合う 友達 も います けど 、 やはり 絶対 数 が 日本 に 住んで いた 時 と 比べたら 全然 少なくて 、

アメリカ で 友達 を 作る って 難しい です けど 、やっぱり 人 と の 付き合い を 大切に して いきたい な と 改めて 思います ね 。 特に コロナ で 去年 は ずっと 、ほぼ 家 に いて 、

そうなる と 夫婦 お互い しか 話す 人 が いない です から ね 、視野 が 狭く なる と いう か 、

今回 マット が 遊び に 来て くれた の も そう です けど 、人 と 話す と 新たな 発見 が ある と いう か ね 、へぇ 、面白い なって 感じる こと が たくさん あって 、

私 は やっぱり そういう 人 と コミュニケーション を とって 色々 知る とか 感じる とか が 好きな ので 、

人 と 話して いこうって 思いました 。 さて 今日 の エピソード です が 、前 学期 、春 学期 です ね 、とって いた ビジネス の クラス の 課題 に ついて 少し シェア したい こと が あり お 話したい と 思います 。 その他 英語 の 話 も 予定 して います 。 ★アメリカ の 赤 脚 に 喝 ！

今日 は です ね 、春学期 に とって いた ビジネス の クラス であった 課題 について 皆さん に ちょっと 聞いて もらいたい な と いう もの が あります 。 その 課題 と いう の が 、ビジネス プラン を 作り なさい って やつ だった んです けど 、 ビジネス プラン って 、何 か ビジネス を 始める 時 の 計画書 な んですけど 、 どういう ビジネス か とか 、ターゲット は 誰 か とか 、ターゲット 地域 は どこ か とか 、何故 そこ を ターゲット に する か とか 、

そもそも ビジネス を 立ち上げる に あたり 、自分 が その 分野 に どういう 知識 や スキル 強み を 持って いる か とか 、

金銭 的な ね 、ファイナンシャルプラン と か 、

そういう こと を まとめた もの です 。

その ビジネス プラン を 元 に 、賛同者 、協力者 を 募って 一緒に 進めて いったり 、外 から の 資金 が 必要な 場合 は その プラン を 軸 に プレゼン して 資金 集め を したり します 。 今回 の 課題 は そんなに 真面目な 、細かな プラン は 必要 なくて 、

ただ 一通り 、基本 の ビジネス プラン の 枠 に 沿った 内容 を 考えて スライド を 作る って やつ でした 。 何の ビジネス に ついて プラン を 考える か は 自由 で 、

既に 自分 で 何 か ビジネス を やって いる 場合 は それ でも いい し 、架空の ビジネス 、想像 で ビジネス を 作って も OK という こと でした 。

で 、です よ 、私 が 考えた ビジネス に ついて 、ちょっと 聞いて もらいたい んです よ 。 なかなか ねぇ 、いい んじゃ ない か なって 思う んです けど 。

私 が 考えた の は 、

「カスタマーサービス コンサルティング ＆ トレーニング 」です 。

そのまま な んです けど 、

主に は レストラン と か の 飲食業 、ホテル 、あと は 洋服屋 雑貨屋 と か です けど 、

それ に 限らず 、人 と 接する ビジネス 、施設 が ターゲット です 。

アメリカ に 住んで いて 常に 感じる の は 、カスタマーサービス が 微妙 って こと です 。 カスタマーサービス って いう か 、その 以前 の 、なんて いう んです か ね 、接客 の イロハ が なっていない と いう か 、 イラって する こと が 多々 あります 。 それ を どうにか したい と いう 、その 想い から 閃いた ビジネス です 。 って いって も 、もう ね 、きっと 同じ ような ビジネス は たくさん ある と 思う んです けど 。

私 の この ビジネス の 強み は 、日本人 の 視点 から 見た 改善点 を 挙げて トレーニング 、コンサル していく って こと です 。 日本 の 接客 が 世界的に 見て 誰しも が 良い と 思う か は わからない です けど 、

少なくとも 基本 的な ところ 、基本 的な レベル 、質 は 高い と 思う んです よね 。

店員 さん の 気遣い と か 、キビキビ 動く 感じ と か 、笑顔 と か 。

それ に 慣れて しまって いる と 、

アメリカ に 来て 、接客 が なって いない 店員 が ゴロゴロ いる と 、イラっと します 。 この 人 、やる 気 ある の か なって 呆れる レベル です 。

もう ちょっと 、なんか 、がんばれ アメリカ って 思う んです よね 。 例えば 、レストラン とか で は 、

注文 を したい とか 必要な 時 に ウエイター さん 、ウエイトレス さん は 全然 気づいて くれ なかったり 、周り に いない のに 、 必要 ない 、ただ 食事 を 楽しんで いる 時 に は 必要 以上 に 水 を 入れ に 来たり 、何度 も 何度 も Everything's Okay ?って 聞き に 来たり する こと 。 レストラン や 、個々 の ウエイター さん 、ウエイトレス さん に よって も もちろん 違って 、

良い 対応 を して くれる 人 も います が 、 全体 的に 見る と 、ちょっと 微妙 って いう か 。 あー 、注文 したい のに 誰 も いない なーって 思って 見渡してる と 、 奥 の 方 で ウエイレス 同士 で おしゃべり してる って いう 。 いやいや いやいや 、 みたいな 。

まあ 別に おしゃべり して て も いい けど 、常に お客さん の 席 を 気にかけて おくって 飲食店 の 基本 の 「き 」です よね 。

なんか その 辺り が なって ない んです よね 。

それ から 、これ は 日本 と アメリカ で 違う ところ なんです が 、

アメリカ の レストラン って 、各 席 担当 の ウエイトレス が 決まってる じゃない ですか 。 基本 は 担当 の ウエイトレス が オーダー を とって 、料理 を 運んで 、その後 も 何 か 必要な もの は ない か 、追加 の オーダー が ない か を 確認する という ね 。

それ は いい んです けど 、

明らかに 注文 した そうな 人 、何か 頼みたそうに している 人 が いる 場合 でも 、もしも それ が 自分 の 担当 の 席 で は ない 場合 は スルー する ウエイター 、ウエイトレス が 多くて 、

それ も ね 、すごく 気 に なる んです よ ね 。

決まり で 、 担当 の ウエイトレス で は ない と オーダー を 取れ なかった と して も 、 一言 「 担当者 を 呼んで くる ので 少々 お 待ち ください 」 と か 、「 すぐに お伺い します ね 、 少々 お 待ち ください 」 と か 、 一言 声 かけられる よ ね ？ って いう 。

あと は 、同じ ような これ も 日本 の カジュアルな レストラン に は あまり ない んです けど 、

お皿 を 下げる 、食べ 終わった お皿 を 片付ける 担当 の 人 が 別に いる レストラン って ある じゃないですか 、バッシング 係 です ね 。 その 人 たち が テキパキ 常に 片付けて れば いい んです けど 、

きっと お 店 に よって お皿 を 洗ったり とか 、その他 の 仕事 も 同じ 人 が やっている から か 、

時々 お 客 さん が 既に 帰った 後 の テーブル に ずーっと お 皿 が 置いて ある こと が あります 。 それ も 私 、あんまり 好きじゃない んです よね 。

私 の 感覚 で は 、気づいた ウエイター 、ウエイトレス が バッシング の 人 に 一声 かける と か 、

ま ぁ アメリカ で は 人 の 仕事 を 取る とかって 意味 で NG な の かも です けど 、気づいたら どんどん 下げちゃう 方が 見た目 が すっきり して 良い と 思う んです よね 。

すごく 暇 そう な お店 で 、私たち が 食べている 横 の 席 に 食べ終わった お皿 が ずーっと 放置されている と いい 気分 は しません よね 。 え 、暇 だ よね 、片付けよう よ 。 って 思います 。 全体 的に とにかく 動き が 遅くて 、

もっと テキパキ 動ける んじゃ ない ？ って 思っちゃ う んです よ ね 。

たまに 小さな お 店 な のに 、 ウエイターウエイトレス が 4人 と か 5人 と かいて 、

それ でも オーダー し たくて 待って る お 客 さん が いたり 、片付いて いないで 放置 している テーブル とか を 見る と 、 これ 、私 だったら 1 人 で お店 全体 回せる わ 。 って 思っちゃ います 。 自信 過剰 かも しれない で すけど 、日本 の 結構 混む 居酒屋 とか レストラン とか で 働いた こと ある 人 なら 、

こっち の レストラン なら 絶対 即戦力 です よ 。

テキパキ 度 が 違う と 思います 。 なんか 、こういう 色々な ところ が 気に なっちゃう んです よね 。

あ 、もう ひとつ いい ですか 、

私 、レストラン で お客さん が 帰る 時 に 絶対 笑顔 で 一言 「 Thank you 」って いう 習慣 を つけた 方が いい と 思う んです よね 。 どう です か ？

個人 的な 考え かも しれない で す けど 、

日本って 、 基本 的に は どんな お 店 でも お 客 さん が お 店 から 出る 時 、 帰る 時 は 「 ありがとう ございます ー 」 と か 「 また お 越し ください ー 」 的な 声 かけ を する じゃ ないで す か ？ で 、 お 客 さん 側 も 「 ごちそうさま でした ー 」って 言って 帰る みたいな 。 それ が あまり こっち で は 感じられ なくて 、 もちろん 、言って くれる お店 も あります けど 、 結構な 頻度 で 、私たち が 席 を 立って 帰る 時 は 誰 も 気にかけて なくて 、

私 は それ でも 「 thank you 」って 言って 帰りたい 人 な ので 、周り に いる ウエイター さん とか ウエイトレス さん に 声 を かけて 帰る んです が 、 時々 全く ホール に スタッフ が 居ない こと も あって 、みんな 奥 に 入っちゃって 。 わからない 、これ は 良い 悪い で は なくて 、アメリカ に は そういう 帰り に 一言 声 を 掛け合う っていう 習慣 が ない だけ の 話 だ と 思う んです けど 、 でも やっぱり ね 、それ に 慣れて いる 私 としては 、

最後に 笑顔 で コミュニケーション を とって くれた 方 が 気持ち良い し 、

「あー 、美味しかった 、また 来よう 」って 気持ち に なる んじゃないか なー と 思う んです よね 。 インターネット の 口コミ サイト 、

アメリカ で は レストラン と か だったら yelp や 、 あと は 普通に google maps の レビュー と か か な 、 それ から trip advisor か 。

そういう の を 見て いる と 、

料理 そのもの の 味 も だ けど 、接客 、カスタマーサービス の こと が 書かれている こと が 多くて 、 特に 悪い レビュー の 場合 は 、多く の 理由 が 接客 の 悪さ が 原因 なんです よね 。
