也 没想到 这么 一个

我 是 大学 教书 的

做 《 锵锵 三人行 》 只是 个 业余

实话 告诉 你们

我 学校 的 领导 还 不大 赞成 呢

他 说 你 这个 教授 应该 多 写 论文

提高 学校 的 排名

你们 别 笑

这 是 正经 的 事

所以 我 现在 减少 做 《 锵锵 三人行 》 了

不过 我 今天 讲 的 虽然 是 在 一个 公众 讲堂

但是 我 今天 讲 的 部分 内容

曾经 在 哈佛大学 的 东亚 系 都 讲 过

所以 是 很 学术 的

你们 不要 闷 就行了

当然 我 还有 纸 呢

还有 备课 的

《 锵锵 三人行 》 之所以 能 做 这么 多年

我 先 帮 他们 做 点 宣传

《 锵锵 三人行 》 能 做 这么 多年

主要 因为 两个 原因

第一个 原因 就是 因为 各位 的 努力

中国 的 国力 在 过去 的 十九年 GDP 增长 了 10 倍

大家 知道 1997 的 时候 是 一万 亿 美金

现在 是 十一 万亿

真的 不 开玩笑

这 不仅 是 在 中国 历史 上 这 是 发展 最快 的 一个 时期

而且 在 人类 历史 上 都 是 没有 出现 过 的 这种 情况

就是 这么 大面积 的 人口

所以 他们 现在 很多 人 怀疑 中国 的 很多 事情

我 一点 都 不 怀疑

全都 可能

这是 一片 神奇 的 土地 对 不 对

第二 呢

我们 这个 节目 之所以 能 做 下来

也 靠 了 一个 网络

北岛 以前 写过 一首 诗

诗名 两个 字 叫 《 生活 》

诗 的 内容 只有 一个 字 叫

网 。

他 当时 讲 的 是 中国 的 人伦关系

没想到 变成 惊人 的 预言

大家 知道 网 对 我们 今天 有 多 重要

早上 起来

他们 都 说 了

手机 是 身体 的 一个 器官

不 摸 头 不 摸 脚 先 摸 手机

网 的 这个 作用 非常 大

但是 这个 网上 去 了 以后

我 也 要 慢慢 地 琢磨 网上 的 一些 规律

网络 上面 有 一些 什么 规律

上 个 礼拜 我 又 被 他们 拉 去 《 锵锵 三人行 》 做 了 四 集 节目

每一集 的 话题 都 很 重要

一集 是 讲 雄安新区

雄安 新区 怎么 说 呢

问 我 有 什么 看法

我 说 我 最 感兴趣 的 就是 那 四个 字

叫 “千年 大计 ”

他 说 你 为什么 感兴趣 呢

我 说 我 总 觉得 这个 口号 比较 少 提

另外 一件 事情 讲 的 是 《 人民 的 名义 》

这 跟 我们 今天 的 话题 也 有关

我 等 一下 会 提到

另外 还 讲 了 两件 小 事情

一件 小 事情 是 河南 有 一个 县

有 30 多 个 初中生

说 是 被 奸淫

有 说 是 被 强逼 着 卖淫

也 有 说 是 强奸

据说 犯罪 的

强奸 她们 的 或者 说 是

这个 怎么 说

都 不能 叫 嫖客 了

反正 那个 坏人 据说 是 人大代表 跟 当地 的 企业家

这个 新闻 是 非常 非常 地 震撼

当然 很快 网上 又 不见 了

但 事情 是 有 的

当地 公安局 都 有 登出来

我 发现 网上 有 个 定律

三样 东西 是 最 引起 大家 注意 的

一个 就是 sex

第二个 就是 穷富 的 矛盾

第三个 是 官民 的 矛盾

另外 还有 一件 事情

叫 聊城 辱 母案

大家 知道 对 不 对

这个 辱 母案 还是 一样 的 道理

在 我 看来 一刀 捅出 三个 大 问题

第一个 大 问题 是 高利贷

高利贷

在 香港 的 法律

你 借 高利贷 超过 利息 60% 就是 犯法

可是 在 中国 呢

超过 35% 叫 不算

你 借 100% 的 利息

超过 35% 不算

但是 没有 说 放高利贷 的 人 犯法

大家 明白

因为 他 不 犯法

所以 他 去 用 任何 方法 逼债

警察 可以 不管

高利贷 这 是 全国 多大 的 问题

大家 也 在 网络 上 一看

你们 一看

一个 人 是 讨债 的

一个 人 是 还债 的

你们 同情 谁 呀

肯定 同情 还债 的 了 对 不 对

我们 大家 都 欠债 多 嘛 对 不 对

没有 多少 人 是 发放 高利贷 的

在座 有 举手

我 也 看不见

第一个 这是 穷富 问题 又 出现 了

第二 这件 事情 大家 很 愤慨 是 警察 到场 了

警察 到场 只 说 了 一句

你们 讨债 归 讨债 不要 打人 就行了

然后 就 走 了

直接 导致 了 接下来 的 命案

现在 警察 也 在 审查

你 看 这 又 是 一个 官民 的 矛盾 的 情绪

当然 第三个

辱母 这个 事情 其实 中国 人 天天 干

我们 的 国骂 是 什么

大家 知道 我们 的 国骂 是 什么

英文 里面 都 是 “ F ”打头

“ F ”的 就是 “你 ”

中国 人 从来 不 “ F ”你

中国 人 一 “ F ”就 “ F ”到

你 爸爸 的 爱人 身上 去 了

香港 有 学生 自称 香港 是 另 一个 民族

他 不是 鼓吹 “港独 ”吗

我 说 你们 拍拍 头

你 骂人 怎么 骂 的

他 一算 诶 跟 北京 人 骂 的 一样

就 凭 这 一点 你 就 没法 “港独 ”了

一模一样 的 一个 民族

大家 都 是 口头 说 说

哪 有 谁 真 做 啊

里边 这个 细节 我 不 重复 了

我 相信 你们 各位 都 知道

逼债 的 人 做 了 什么样 的 行为

这种 事情

我 说 开玩笑 法庭 怎么 判

因为 这 牵涉到 中国 人 的 宗教

中国 人 的 宗教 就是 祖宗

你 怎么 可以 这样 对 一个 人 的 母亲

难怪 这些 法律 的 人 完全 没有 文化 的 常识

但是 我 今天 的 讲座 不是 为了 评论 这些

我 只是 说

你 看 现在 大 事情 我 不 讲

这些 小 事情 在 网上 最 热 的 事情

它 都 贯穿 了 我 刚才 讲 的 三个 焦点

就是 贫富 矛盾 官民 矛盾

还有 就是 性别 问题

性 的 斗争

两性 的

这个 东西 其实 不是 现在 开始 的

古代 其实 就 有

穷 富 矛盾

大家 知道 路 有 冻死 骨

官民 矛盾 大概 就 有

只许 官 放火 不许 百姓 点灯

但是 最 完整

我 概括 一个 规律

叫 穷 比 富 好 民 比 官 好 多 比 少 好

这 三个 游戏 规则

最 完整 体现 的 就是

你们 看 没 看过 一个 电影

叫 《 建国 大业 》

那个 时候 真的 是

中国 人

第一 老百姓 讨厌 国民党

第二 穷人 要 反 有钱人 打倒 地主

第三 这 是 大部分 人 的 意志

所以 今天 网络 上 的 意识形态

在 某种程度 上 叫 不 忘 初心 啊

大家 有没有 看过 巴金 的 小说 《家》

你 把 《 家 》 所有 的 人物 按 年龄 排 一个 表

你 就 发现

比觉 新 大 的 都 是 坏 的

比觉 新 小 的 都 是 好 的

原来 是 一个 进化论 的 图解

然后 你 把 曹禺 的 《 日出 》

大家 知道 曹禺 有个 戏 叫 《日出》

看过 没有

《 日出 》 的 人物 全排 一个 表

你 按 他们 的 经济 收入 排 表

最 有钱 的 是 金八 潘月亭

然后 中间 陈白露

下面 穷 的 黄省 三 小东西

你 排 了 个 表 你 就 发现 了

以 陈白露 为 界线

比 陈白露 有钱 的 全是 坏 的

比 陈白露 穷 的 全是 好 的

这 一种 有钱 的人 是 坏 的 穷人 是 好 的

这种 意识形态 在 我们 今天 的 网上

而 几十年 来 是 非常 根深蒂固 的

所以 在 1949 年 以后 它 延续

多 比 少 好 当然 也 延续

大家 知道 多 总比 少 好

这个 太 容易 理解

唯独 一个 东西 要 改

就是 什么 呢

就是 民 比 官 好 不 行

因为 官 换 了

官 换 成 新 中国 了

所以 到 了 1949 年 以后

我们 这个 国家 的 意识形态 面临 着 一个 巨大 的 任务

就是 要 扭转 民 比 官 好 的

这么 一个 思维 定势 跟 意识形态 规律

当时 用 了 三个 方法 扭转

第一个 当时 的 官

50 年代 的 官 的 生活 水平 跟 老百姓 差 的 不 多

这个 是 真的

我 见 过

我 自己 亲戚 也 有 做官 的

家具 都 是 国家 给 的

定 一个 牌子

就是 收入 差别 不大

叫 艰苦 朴素

这点 现在 是 比较 难 做到

那个 时候 是 真 做到

不过 最近 好像 又 在 往 这个 方向 努力

第二个 就是 废掉 这个 “官 ”字

曾经 有 一段时间 你 看不到 这个 “官 ”字 了

大家 改叫 什么

领导

同志

还有 什么

干部

干部 是 第三人称 的 时候 才 叫

当面 你 也 不会 叫 喂 刘 干部

你 不会

公仆

这个 都 是 说 说 的 啦

最多 的 是 同志 领导 这样 的

但是 真的 不用 “官 ”

我 记得 我 80 年代 初 去 采访 一个 陈企霞

他 是 跟 丁玲 一起 打成 反党 集团

在 延安 做 《 解放日报 》 文艺 版 副主编

他 受 了 几十年 的 迫害

50 年代 初 就是 反党集团

我们 去 很 同情 他

然后 我们 其中 有个 研究生 说 了 一句 话

讲 到 “当局 ”

用 了 这么 两个 字

没想到 关 了 多少 年 牢 放 出来 的 陈企霞 同志

当场 就 喝令 我们

就 说 你们 这些 年轻人

当时 我们 还 年轻

你们 这些 年轻人 不要 口口声声 说 “当局”

大家 明白 这个 话 里

他 的 意思 就是说 “ 当局 ” 是 指称 国民党 的

你 不能 用来 形容 今天 的 政府

还有 我 再 举个 例子

我 有 一次 跟 王蒙 一起 做 节目

也 是 做 《 锵锵 三人行 》

其中 提到 周扬 曾经 在 运动 当中 迫害 别人 的时候

我 就 讲 了 一句 话

我 就 说 周扬 在 这么 做 的 时候

他 会 不会 也 有 仕途 的 考虑

王蒙 就 说 了

他 说 在 周扬 的 词典 里 根本 没有 “ 仕途 ” 这 两个 字

大家 明白 这个 话 的 意思 没有

就是说 当时 的 干部

他 的 路线斗争 他 做 很多 事情

可是 他 不会 有 我们 今天 想 的

就是说 做官 将来 的 前途 问题

现代 的 语言学 说明 词 会 改变 内容 的

discourse

你 多少 年 不用 “官 ”

五六十年代 经过 的 人

你 真的 没有 官员 这个 概念

官府 这个 都 是 旧社会 的

所以 那 一度 改名 词 是 蛮 起 效果 的

当然 更 起 效果 的 一个 就是

我们 今天 要 讲 的 主题

叫做 定义 人民

我 曾 写 过 一篇 文章 叫 《 三众 四民 》

“三众 ”就是 大众 群众 民众

“四民 ”就是

国民 人民 公民 跟 网民

其实 还 不 只 四民

还有 可以 值得 谈 的 是 臣民 跟 良民

当然 还有 草民 贱民

臣民 很 有意思

我们 听 上去 这 像 一个 负面 词

其实 它 当初 是 一个 中性 或者 正面 词

葛洪 就是 普天率土 莫非 臣民

我们 今天 在 讲 房产 70 年 产权 的 时候

都 知道 普天之下 莫非 王土

其实 接下来 它 都 是 臣民

那个 时候 臣民 没有 什么 错

其实 现在 这个 地球 上 有 很多 国家 的人 都 还是 臣民

大家 知道 刚 发生 恐袭 的 瑞典 日本 英国

凡是 君主立宪制 的 国家 的 民众

他们 都 觉得 他们 是 臣民

只要 这个 国家 的 名字 叫 什么 王国 帝国 的

他 就是 臣民

但是 在 我们 的 字眼 里面

臣民 现在 变成 了 一个 负面 词

你 去 查 字典

都 说 这个 代表 了 屈从 代表 了 服从 等等等等

妙 的 很 良民 也 是

良民 原来 韩非子 用 的 时候

它 也 是 一个 好 词

我们 今天 听到 良民

大家 都 想到 对 不 对

想到 日本 人

“ 八格 牙路 ” 这种

良民证 拿 出来

日本 人 做 了 很 复杂 的 工程

搞 了 一个 良民证 的 计划

今天 要是 在座 某人 领导 夸 你 说 你 是 个 良民

你们 别 笑

江苏 有 一个 县

我 新 找 出来 的

在 2010 年 还是 2009 年 的 时候

推广 了 一个 良民 评选 计划

它 的 评选 是 这样 的

如果 你 能够 为 地方 上 招商 引财 加 20 分

如果 拾金 捡 到 钱 交上去 加 10 分

如果 不 交 电话费 扣 20 分

如果 党内 警告 扣 30 分

真 推行 过

当代 的 就是 现在 的

推行 过 一个 良民 计划

当然 没有 全部 推广

这 是 江苏 某 县

你们 很 容易 查 得到 的

我 在 讲 人民 这个 词 的 时候 我 需要 把 它 跟 几个 相关 的 词 做 区别 第一个 相关 的 词 就是 大众 我们 民众 民众 就是 人民大众 人民 跟 大众 有 什么 区别 呢 做学问 的 一查 原来 大众 这个 词 虽然 古代 就 有 了 但是 不大 通用 真正 进入 现代 政治 社会 是 日语 汉字 而 它 进来 的 时候 是 一个 中性 和 带 负面 的 字 大众 的 提法 有 三种 不同 的 看法 第一种 看法 大家 很 熟悉 就是 鲁迅 的 看法 什么 呢 就是 大众 在 一个 黑 房子 里 睡着 了 他们 就 这么 会 慢慢 地 死去 而 我们 要 把 他们 叫醒 大家 记得 鲁迅 讲 的 这个 比喻 吧 当然 有人 跟 他 说 你 要 把 他 叫醒 鲁迅 说 万一 我 叫 了 以后 他们 醒 了 可是 没有 门 只有 一个 窗 那 他们 不是 更 痛苦 吗 这是 鲁迅 一辈子 的 悲观主义 的 启蒙 观 但是 在 这个 比喻 当中 大家 发现 没有 世人 皆 醉 我 独醒 大众 是 一个 被 唤醒 的 对象 而 唤醒 大众 这个 主体 本身 不是 大众 大家 明白 没有 唤醒 大众 的 不是 大众 那 是 什么 呢 我们 今天 客观 地 来说 就是 精英 就是 知识分子 也 包括 早期 的 国民党 共产党 所有 这些 人 当时 都 是 精英 鲁迅 的 这个 观念 而且 当时 的 人数 悬殊 是 非常 厉害 的 我教 现代文学 我 一直 跟 学生 讲 鲁迅 他们 那个 时候 四万万 五千万 人口 识字 的 人 小学 程度 的 只有 10% 就是 五千万 而 这个 五千万 里面 只有 10% 的 人 是 读 新文学 的 另外 90% 的 人 是 读 鸳鸯蝴蝶 派 的 也就是说 在 当时 读 鲁迅 读 巴金 读 郁达夫 读谢 冰心 不管 你 是 读 谁 的 这些 人 只有 几百万 人 在 整个 中国 人口 里面 他们 只有 1% 2% 按照 后来 文革 的 语言 他们 是 极少数 一小撮 但 这个 极少数 一小撮 改变 了 中国 的 整个 的 发展 方向 而 中国 后来 的 发展 是 沿着 新 青年 这个 方向 走 的 你 不管 后来 国共 分裂 就算 他们 全 加在一起 都 是 人口 的 极少数 这个 是 在 文化 程度 上来 规定 这个 当然 跟 今天 的 情况 是 完全 不可同日而语 今天 的 网民 有 七亿 多 这个 人数 是 非常 吓人 的 直到 1966 年 大家 记住 这个 数字 直到 1966 年 毛主席 接见 红卫兵 的 时候 全 中国 的 小学生 有 一亿多 中学生 一千多万 所以 他 北京 八次 接见 差不多 把 全国 的 中学生 都 洗 了 一遍 大学生 只有 六 十几万 全 中国 今天 是 什么 数字 今天 小学生 还是 一亿多 中学生 也 有 一亿多 大学生 有 两三千 万 大家 知道 接下来 就 七百 九 十几万 大学生 要 毕业 了 面临 巨大 的 就业 压力 仅 大学 毕业生 就 有 七百多万 全世界 罕见 但是 你 看看 这 等于 说 中国 过去 的 文化 人口 是 个 金字塔 现在 是 一根 柱子 哪 天 变成 这样 了 小学生 越来越少 大学生 越来越 多 了 像 台湾 现在 就是 这个 样子 不 考大学 是 很 难 的 了 鲁迅 （ 认为 ） 大众 是 被 精英 唤醒 的 第二种 观点 瞿秋白 大家 知道 瞿秋白 共产党 第二任 高级 领导 他 说 你们 这些 知识分子 第一 你们 用 的 语言 都 是 欧化 的 第二 你们 用来 唤醒 大众 的 是 错 的 大众 是 革命 的 主力 大众 是 最好 的 文艺 因此 不是 你 唤醒 大众 是 大众 要 救 你 的 问题 这是 瞿秋白 的 观点 30 年代 就 提出 来 的 当然 后来 瞿秋白 也 是 死 得 很惨 一方面 被 国民党 杀害 另一方面 因为 他 写 的 《 多余 的 人 》 很 精英 的 一篇 文章 被 认为 是 叛徒 很多年 今天 我们 知道 我们 现在 面临 的 是 一个 文化 工业 这个 文化 工业 对 大众 又 是 另外 一种 命名 另外 一种 定义 现在 当然 了 Hello kitty 的 人 当然 是 多 过 一般 的 知识分子 所以 这个 是 另外 的 但是 还有 第三种 观点 那 是 梁实秋 梁实秋 说好 的 艺术 永远 只 属于 少数 人 《 红楼梦 》 永远 只有 少数 人 欣赏 永远 forever 也 不是 千年 了 万年 都 是 这样 他 说 当 你 大众 能够 欣赏 一个 东西 的 时候 少数 人 能够 欣赏 到 更好 的 东西 大众 永远 追不上 这是 三种 完全 不同 的 观点 但 不管 怎么样 大家 发现 这 三种 观点 的 大众 就 像 我们 今天 用 的 大众 它 是 一个 文化 概念 它 不是 一个 人民 概念 所以 今天 有 很多 人 偷换概念 像 郭敬明 他们 说 他们 受 人民 欢迎 不 对 那 是 受 大众 欢迎 大家 有没有 明白 第二个 关键词 人民 群众 这个 就 更 关键 了 我们 一般 讲 民众 民众 人民 群众 那 人民 跟 群众 有 啥 关系 有 什么 分别 呢 大家 有 想 过 没有 比方说 我们 现在 一 房间 里面 有 600 个人 在 这里 600 个 都 是 公民 600 个 都 是 人民 吗 还是 600 个 都 是 群众 群众 的 对立 词是 什么 领导 对 了 那 领导 是 人民 吗 假定 我们 现在 600 个人 里边 550 个 是 群众 有 50 个 是 领导 对 不 对 假定 我们 这里 没有 阶级 敌人 都 是 人民 对 不 对 那 50 个 是不是 人民 这 领导 是 不是 你 看 思想混乱 了 吧 思想混乱 了 吧 人民 简单 的 说法 人民 等于 群众 加 干部 大家 明白 没有 人民 跟 公民 什么 关系 呢 跟 国民 是 什么 关系 呢 就是 公民 国民 减掉 敌人 等于 人民 这个 是 非常 非常 重要 的 关键 因为 人民 这个 概念 它 原来 的 一个 定义 它 的 对立 词是 皇家 在 英国 就 不 讲 人民 法国 才 讲 人民 在 香港 我们 最 知道 了 买房子 什么 卖得 好 你 不能 说 我 是 People's House No way You have to say royal 皇家 明明 在 粉岭 上 水 不 知道 哪个 角落里 都 是 皇家 俱乐部 皇家 宫殿 而且 换成 中文 就是 什么 龙 啊 御 啊 帝 啊 搞 一大堆 这些 都 是 没有 人民 觉悟 的 人才 起 出来 的 名字 我们 北京 上海 杭州 的 房子 ... 我 不 知道 怎么样 叫 现在 有没有 人卖 一个 新楼 叫 人民 庄园 的 人民公社 的 但是 曾经 一度 我 记得 那个 时候 我 认识 的 亲戚 非常 兴奋 地到 我 家里 来 说 什么 发生 什么 事 了 他 说 我 敌性 内处 了 有人 听得懂 这句 话 吗 什么 叫 敌性 内处 就是说 他 是 敌我矛盾 性质 按 人民 内部矛盾 处理 下面 有 一横 帽子 拿 在 群众 手里 哎呀 我 这个 舅舅 是 乐得 天呐 他 整个 人生 就 获救 了 因为 他 是 一个 小业主 这种 小业主 在 解放前 剥削 工人阶级 剥削 劳动 人民 本来 应该 算作 敌人 可是 因为 他 在 文革 当中 表现 好 被 打 被 骂 不 反抗 从来不 写 反动 标语 还 检举 揭发 他 的 老婆 所以 最后 造反派 给 他 审定 说 好 你 虽然 是 敌我矛盾 但是 我们 给 你 宽大 按 人民 内部矛盾 处理 一横 帽子 拿 在 群众 手里 他 那个 高兴 呀 当年 很多 人求 的 就是 这个 巴金 也 是 很多 人求 的 就是 敌性 内处 就是说 你 是不是 属于 人民 的 一员 当然 现代 法制观念 来说 很 简单 你 是不是 人民 人民 是 个 政治 概念 公民 是 个 法律 概念 把 你 踢出 人民 就是 因为 你 犯罪 对 不 对 但是 那个 时候 不是 这样 因为 人民 怎么 可以 被 排除 第一 可以 根据 你 的 出生 血统 排除 你 是 地主 的 儿子 你 是 富农 的 老婆 你 是 资本家 家里 的 什么 人 你 就 可以 排除 第二 根据 你 的 财产 就 可以 排除 第三 还 可以 根据 你 的 思想 加以 排除 你 来 开个 会 进来 的 时候 是 人民 出去 就是 敌人 了 因为 会上 已经 给 你 进行 了 批判 了 大家 明白 没有 大家 看过 《 芙蓉镇 》 大家 都 知道 嘛 所以 每 一次 开会 的 时候 进来 是 人民 出去 是 敌人 了 你们 查 那个 《 辞海 》 这个 最 重要 了 我 特别 去查 《 辞海 》 才 知道 原来 《 管子 》 中国 古代 就 有 但是 仔细 一看 人民 的 定义 是 什么 在 抗日战争 时期 凡 跟随 中国共产党 抵抗 日本鬼子 的 就是 人民 在 解放战争 时期 能 跟着 共产党 打倒 蒋介石 反动派 的 就是 人民 在 社会主义 建设 时期 能 跟着 共产党 建设 社会主义 的 就是 人民 大家 找出 了 规律 没有 今天 我 常常 有时候 去 一个 地方 买 东西 办事 那个 服务员 态度 很差 我 那个 时候 有时候 火 大 的 时候 也 是 书生气 看到 它 上面 挂 着 “ 为 人民 这个 观念 而且 当时 的 人数 悬殊 是 非常 厉害 的 我教 现代文学 我 一直 跟 学生 讲 鲁迅 他们 那个 时候 四万万 五千万 人口 识字 的 人 小学 程度 的 只有 10% 就是 五千万 而 这个 五千万 里面 只有 10% 的 人 是 读 新文学 的 另外 90% 的 人 是 读 鸳鸯蝴蝶 派 的 也就是说 在 当时 读 鲁迅 读 巴金 读 郁达夫 读谢 冰心 不管 你 是 读 谁 的 这些 人 只有 几百万 人 在 整个 中国 人口 里面 他们 只有 1% 2% 按照 后来 文革 的 语言 他们 是 极少数 一小撮 但 这个 极少数 一小撮 改变 了 中国 的 整个 的 发展 方向 而 中国 后来 的 发展 是 沿着 新 青年 这个 方向 走 的 你 不管 后来 国共 分裂 就算 他们 全 加在一起 都 是 人口 的 极少数 这个 是 在 文化 程度 上来 规定 这个 The first view, which everyone is familiar with, is Lu Xun's perspective. What is it? It is that the masses are sleeping in a dark room, and they will slowly die like this, and we need to wake them up. Everyone remembers this metaphor from Lu Xun, right? Of course, some people told him, 'You need to wake them up.' Lu Xun replied, 'What if I wake them up, but there is no door, only a window? Wouldn't that make them even more miserable?' This reflects Lu Xun's lifelong pessimism. However, in this metaphor, we find that there is no 'everyone is drunk, I alone am awake'. The masses are an object to be awakened, and the subject that awakens the masses is not the masses themselves. Do you understand? The one who awakens the masses is not the masses. So what is it? Objectively speaking today, it is the elite, the intellectuals, including the early members of the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. All these people were elites at that time. Lu Xun's view was that the number of people was vastly different. I teach modern literature, and I always tell my students that at that time, with a population of 400 million to 500 million, only 10% of the population could read at a primary school level, which is 50 million. And among these 50 million, only 10% read modern literature, while the other 90% read the 'Mandarin Duck and Butterfly School'. In other words, at that time, reading Lu Xun, Ba Jin, Yu Dafu, or Xie Bingxin, no matter who you read, there were only a few million people in the entire Chinese population. They only accounted for 1% or 2%. According to the language of the later Cultural Revolution, they were a very small minority. But this very small minority changed the entire development direction of China. The subsequent development of China followed the direction of 'New Youth'. No matter how the Kuomintang and the Communist Party split later, even if they all added together, they were still a very small minority in terms of population. This is defined in terms of cultural level, which is of course completely different from today's situation. Today, there are more than 700 million internet users, which is a staggering number. Until 1966, remember this number: until 1966, when Chairman Mao met with the Red Guards, there were more than 100 million elementary school students and over 10 million middle school students in all of China. So he met with the students in Beijing eight times, almost washing through the entire middle school population. There were only about 600,000 university students. What is the number in China today? Today, there are still more than 100 million elementary school students, more than 100 million middle school students, and 20 to 30 million university students. You know that soon there will be nearly 790 million university graduates facing enormous employment pressure. Just the university graduates alone number over 7 million, which is rare in the world. But look at this: it means that the cultural population of China in the past was a pyramid, and now it is a column. When did it change like this? The number of elementary school students is decreasing while the number of university students is increasing. Taiwan is now like this. It is very difficult not to go to university. Lu Xun believed that the masses are awakened by the elite. The second viewpoint is from Qu Qiubai. Everyone knows Qu Qiubai, the second senior leader of the Communist Party. He said, 'You intellectuals, first, the language you use is Europeanized. Second, what you use to awaken the masses is wrong. The masses are the main force of the revolution. The masses are the best in literature and art. Therefore, it is not you who awaken the masses; it is the masses who will save you.' This is Qu Qiubai's viewpoint, which was proposed in the 1930s. Of course, later Qu Qiubai also died a tragic death. On one hand, he was killed by the Kuomintang, and on the other hand, because he wrote 'The Excessive Man', a very elite article, he was considered a traitor for many years. Today we know that we are facing a cultural industry, and this cultural industry gives the masses another kind of naming and definition. Now, of course, the people who like Hello Kitty are certainly more than the average intellectuals. So this is another thing. But there is also a third viewpoint, which is from Liang Shiqiu. Liang Shiqiu said that good art will always belong to a minority. 'Dream of the Red Chamber' will always be appreciated by only a few people, forever. He said that when the masses can appreciate something, the minority can appreciate something even better. The masses will never catch up. These are three completely different viewpoints. But no matter what, everyone finds that these three viewpoints of the masses, just like the 'masses' we use today, are a cultural concept. They are not a concept of the people. So today, many people interchange these concepts. For example, Guo Jingming and others say they are popular with the people, which is not correct. They are popular with the masses. Do you understand? The second keyword is 'people' and 'masses'. This is even more critical. We generally talk about the masses, the people, and the masses. So what is the relationship between 'people' and 'masses'? What are the differences? Have you ever thought about it? For example, if we have 600 people in a room, are all 600 of them citizens? Are all 600 of them people? Or are all 600 of them masses? What is the opposite of 'masses'? Leadership, right? So are the leaders people? Suppose among these 600 people, 550 are masses and 50 are leaders, right? Suppose there are no class enemies among us, and they are all people, right? So are the 50 leaders not people? This is where the thinking gets confused, right? Simply put, people equal masses plus cadres. Do you understand? What is the relationship between people and citizens? What is the relationship with nationals? Citizens minus enemies equal people. This is a very, very important key because the concept of 'people' originally had a definition, and its opposite was royal. In England, they do not talk about 'people'; only in France do they talk about 'people'. In Hong Kong, we know that when buying a house, what sells well, you cannot say 'I am a People's House'. No way! You have to say royal. The royal is clearly in Fanling, in some corner, all royal clubs and royal palaces. And in Chinese, it is what? Dragon, imperial, emperor, and a bunch of these names are all names that arise from people who have no awareness of the people. Our houses in Beijing, Shanghai, and Hangzhou... I don't know how to call them now. Is there anyone selling a new building called 'People's Garden' or 'People's Commune'? But at one time, I remember a relative of mine was very excited to come to my house and said, 'What happened?' He said, 'I have been classified as an enemy.' Does anyone understand this sentence? What does it mean to be classified as an enemy? It means he is classified as an enemy of the people. According to the internal contradictions of the people, there is a hat placed in the hands of the masses. Oh, my uncle was overjoyed. His whole life was saved because he was a small property owner. Such small property owners exploited the working class and the laboring people before liberation and should have been considered enemies. However, because he performed well during the Cultural Revolution, he was beaten, scolded, did not resist, never wrote reactionary slogans, and even reported his wife. So in the end, the rebels determined that although he was an enemy of the people, they would treat him leniently and handle him according to the internal contradictions of the people. A hat was placed in the hands of the masses. He was so happy! At that time, many people sought this. Ba Jin also sought this. Being classified as an enemy means whether you belong to the people or not. Of course, from the perspective of modern legal concepts, it is very simple: are you a person? The people are a political concept, while citizens are a legal concept. Being kicked out of the people is because you committed a crime, right? But at that time, it was not like this because how could the people be excluded? First, you could be excluded based on your birth and bloodline. You are the son of a landlord, the wife of a rich peasant, or someone from a capitalist family, and you could be excluded. Second, you could be excluded based on your property. Third, you could also be excluded based on your thoughts. When you come to a meeting, you are a person, and when you leave, you are an enemy because you have already been criticized at the meeting. Do you understand? Have you all seen 'Furong Town'? Everyone knows, right? So every time you come to a meeting, you are a person, and when you leave, you are an enemy. You check that 'Cihai', which is the most important. I specifically checked 'Cihai' and found that the definition of 'people' in ancient China was that during the Anti-Japanese War, anyone who followed the Communist Party of China to resist the Japanese devils was a person. During the Liberation War, anyone who followed the Communist Party to overthrow the reactionary Chiang Kai-shek was a person. During the socialist construction period, anyone who followed the Communist Party to build socialism was a person. Have you found the pattern? Today, sometimes when I go to a place to buy something or do something, if the service attitude of the staff is very poor, sometimes when I get angry, I also feel scholarly. I see the sign hanging above that says 'Serve the People', and I say, 'Why is your service so poor? I waited for a long time, and you are over there playing with your phone and ignoring me. Don't you say you are serving the people?' How does he respond? 'You are just one person. Are you the people?' This statement is also correct. 'Cihai' also stipulates that no one can say they are the people. Please remember that the people are a collective concept. This statement is very powerful.
