‫כולנו מכירים את שרוליק, ‫הדמות הלאומית של ישראל.

‫סנדליםתנ"כיים, מכנסיים קצרים ‫וכובע טמבל

‫ממנו מבצבץ תלתל בודד.

‫את הדמות הזאת יצר ‫בראשית שנות ה-50'

‫הקריקטוריסט קריאל גרדוש, ‫הידוע בכינויו - דוש.

‫שרוליק הופיע בכל יום במעריב ‫במשך עשרות שנים,

‫התגייסלצה"ל בששת הימים,

‫והפך לסמל לאומי שהונצח ‫על בול הדואר של חגיגות היובל,

‫ולתקופה, גם על כל תפוח ‫תוצרת הארץ.

‫אבל מעטים יודעים ‫על האחות האבודה של שרוליק.

‫בתחילת 1967 קיבל דוש ‫פנייה מארגוןויצ"ו,

‫ארגון הנשים הציוניות הבין לאומי.

‫הן ביקשו ממנו ליצור דמות

‫שתשמש אותן להסברה למען ‫ישראל בעולם, ותייצג את הארגון.

‫בסקיצות הראשונות שלה ‫היא נראתה חלוצית וחובבת אדמה

‫בדיוק כמו אחיה. ‫אבל שלא כמו שרוליק,

‫שנועד לסמל את ישראל ‫כפי שהישראלים רצו לראות את עצמם,

‫אחותו יועדה להסברה בחוץ לארץ.

‫לכן ניסה דוש לייצר דמות ‫שתסביר פנים לכל העולם.

‫בסקיצות שלו הוא התלבט: ‫עם כובע, קשת בשיער או מטפחת?

‫שיער ארוך, קצר או מתולתל?

‫עם תליון שלויצ"ו ‫או עגיל בצורת מגן דוד?

‫והאם היא ילדה שובבה כמו אחיה, ‫או אולי מורה ציונית?

‫בסוף התהליך נבראה ‫דמות חדשה עם שיק בין לאומי

‫שקיבלה את השם ויצי. ‫מלשוןויצ"ו כמובן.

‫ויצי הציגה את עצמה לעולם ‫באפריל 67',

‫בביטאון של הארגוןויצ"ו רביו" ‫לצד אחיה שרוליק,

‫והקריקטורות שלה ליוו את המגזין ‫במהלך השנים,

‫מברכת פני מבקריםבנתב"ג ‫או שולחת ברכות שנה טובה מירושלים.

‫דוש יצר גם מגוון של איורים ‫כדי לשמש את חברות הארגון

‫בפרסומים שלהן, אך השימוש שלה ‫למטרות מסחריות נאסר.
