5 1 Justificati ergo ex fide, pacem habeamus ad Deum per Dominum nostrum Jesum Christum : 2 per quem et habemus accessum per fidem in gratiam istam, in qua stamus, et gloriamur in spe gloriæ filiorum Dei. 5 1 Being justified then by faith, let us have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: 2 through whom we have access by faith to that grace in which we stand, and we glory in the hope of the glory of the children of God. 3 Non solum autem, sed et gloriamur in tribulationibus : scientes quod tribulatio patientiam operatur : 4 patientia autem probationem, probatio vero spem, 5 spes autem non confundit : quia caritas Dei diffusa est in cordibus nostris per Spiritum Sanctum, qui datus est nobis. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations: knowing that tribulation works patience: 4 but patience is trial, but trial indeed hope, 5 but hope does not confound: because the love of God has been diffused in our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. 6 Ut quid enim Christus, cum adhuc infirmi essemus, secundum tempus, pro impiis mortuus est ? 6 For why did Christ die for the ungodly, when we were still weak, according to the time? 7 for hardly anyone dies for the just: for perhaps someone dares to die for the good. 8 And God commends his love in us: because while we were still sinners, according to the time, 9 Christ died for us: therefore much more now, being justified in his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. 10 For if we were enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of his son: much more reconciled, we shall be saved in his life. 11 And not only: but we also glory in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.

12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into this world, and through sin death, and so death passed into all men, in which all sinned. 13 For until the law there was sin in the world: but sin was not imputed when there was no law. 14 But death reigned from Adam to Moses even over those who had not sinned, in the likeness of the transgression of Adam, who is the form of the future. 15 But not as an offense, so also a gift: for if by the offense of one many died, much more the grace of God and the gift in the grace of the one man Jesus Christ abounded to many. 16 And not as by one sin, so also the gift. For indeed judgment comes from one into condemnation, but grace from many offenses into justification. 17 For if by the offense of one death reigned by one: much more those who receive the abundance of grace, and gift, and justice, shall reign in life by one Jesus Christ. 18 Igitur sicut per unius delictum in omnes homines in condemnationem : sic et per unius justitiam in omnes homines in justificationem vitæ. 18 Therefore, just as through the offense of one, all men are condemned; so also, through the righteousness of one, all men are justified by life. 19 For as by the disobedience of one man, many were made sinners: so also by the obedience of one, many are made righteous. 20 Lex autem subintravit ut abundaret delictum. 20 But the law came in so that the offense might abound. But where offense abounded, grace abounded more: 21 that as sin reigned unto death, so also grace reigns through righteousness unto eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
