Chapter 13
Politiet kom på besøg.
The police came to visit.
"Nåh," sagde betjenten.
"Oh," said the officer.
"Så du, hvem volds-mændene var?"
then|||violence|the men|
"Did you see who the assailants were?"
Jesper rystede på hovedet.
|shook his head||
Jesper shook his head.
"Næh, de havde ski-masker på.
|||ski|masks|
"Nah, they were wearing ski masks.
Men jeg ved, hvem de er."
But I know who they are."
"Såh."
So
"There."
Betjenten så allerede træt ud.
|looked|already|tired|
The officer already looked tired.
"Det var Prædikanten og hans folk."
"It was the Preacher and his people."
"Det vidste jeg, du ville sige, så jeg har allerede talt med ham.
|knew|||||||||||
“I knew you'd say that, so I already talked to him.
"Я знал, что ты собираешься это сказать, поэтому я уже поговорил с ним.
Det var ikke ham."
It wasn't him."
"Klart nok.
of course|surely
„Sicher genug.
“Sure enough.
Selvfølgelig vil han da ikke indrømme det."
|||||zugeben|
of course|||then||admit it|
Of course he won't admit it."
"Han har en lang række vidner på, at han var hjemme og tilbragte aftenen i bøn."
|||||Zeugen|||||||verbrachte|||im Gebet
||||range|witnesses|||||||spent|||prayer
"He has a long line of witnesses that he was at home and spent the evening in prayer."
"De vidner giver jeg ikke meget for."
|witnesses|||||
"I don't give much for those witnesses."
"Меня не очень волнуют эти свидетели".
"Han undrede sig over, at politiet kunne få den idé," fortsatte betjenten.
|wondered||||||||||
"He wondered how the police could get that idea," the officer continued.
"Он недоумевал, как полиции могла прийти в голову такая идея, - продолжал офицер.
"Han siger, du ønskede at blive optaget i sekten.
||||||admitted||
“He says you wanted to be accepted into the sect.
||||überfallen|||
||||attack||future|
And why would they attack a would-be disciple?"
|lifted||eyebrow||looked|questioningly||
The officer raised an eyebrow and looked at Jesper questioningly.
"Ok.
"Okay.
Jeg prøvede at melde mig ind.
|||sign up||
I tried to log in.
||||||spy on|
But it was because I wanted to spy on them."
|||||the ceiling|with|ceiling|turned|
Now the officer looked up at the ceiling with eyes turned skyward.
Så sukkede han.
|sighed|
Then he sighed.
|lowered|the gaze||||||||||
He lowered his gaze and looked at Jesper as if he were a complete idiot.
"Fremover lader du os i politiet gøre vores arbejde.
from now on|let|||||||
"From now on, you let us in the police do our job.
"Отныне вы позволяете нам, сотрудникам полиции, делать свою работу.
Ok?
Ikke flere tosserier."
||Verrücktheiten
||foolishness
No more two streaks."
|||small|notebook||||bang
The officer closed his little notebook with a bang.
Han havde ikke skrevet noget som helst.
|||written|||at all
Er hatte nichts geschrieben.
He hadn't written anything.
||||||a long time||
Then he got up and looked at Jesper for a long time.
"Vi arbejder videre med sagen.
|work|on||
"We are continuing to work on the case.
Men du holder dig til tømrer-faget."
|||||Zimmermann|dem Beruf
||stick to|||carpentry|the trade
But you stick to carpentry."
Betjenten drejede om på hælen og forsvandt.
the policeman|turned|around|on|heel||disappeared
The officer turned on his heel and disappeared.
Jesper sukkede.
|sighed
Jesper sighed.
Politiet ville næppe gøre mere ved det.
||barely||||
The police would hardly do anything more about it.
Alt hang på Louise og ham selv.
Everything depended on Louise and himself.
|||||||||||bed
It was more than a week before Jesper was out of bed.
|was||sent||||himself
Finally, he was sent home to his own home.
||should|take|it||calm|||||weeks|
But he had to take it easy for at least three more weeks.
Louise var taget hjem.
|was|gone|
Louise had gone home.
Men de havde aftalt at mødes igen.
|||agreed|||
But they had agreed to meet again.
Hun ville komme igen om fjorten dage.
|||||fourteen|
She would come back in two weeks.
by|that||counted|||||fit|||||break-in
At that time, Jesper expected to be healthy enough for a small burglary.
||badly|come||||||
He had barely made it through the door before the phone rang.
"Hej Jesper."
"Hi Jesper."
Det var Louise.
It was Louise.
Hun lød glad.
She sounded happy.
"Alt er gået i orden.
everything||gone||order
"Everything is in order.
Jeg får en uge fri om to uger.
|get||||in||
I get a week off in two weeks.
Tror du ikke, vi kan nå det på en uge?"
|||||make||||
Don't you think we can make it in a week?"
"Jo.
Helt sikkert.
Absolutely.
Bliver du her en hel uge?"
will|||||
Are you staying here for a whole week?"
"Ja."
"Det lyder skønt."
|sounds|wonderful
"That sounds great."
"Jo.
Men der er et lille problem."
||||small|
But there is one small problem."
Louise tøvede lidt.
|zögerte|
|hesitated|
Louise hesitated a little.
"Hvad?
"What?
Er det noget, jeg kan hjælpe med?"
Is there something I can help with?"
Jesper var parat til hvad som helst.
||||||alles
||ready||||preferably
Jesper was ready for anything.
Bare hun ville komme i en hel uge.
I wish she would come for a whole week.
"Jo, altså.
"Well, yes.
||||crazy|||ask|||if|||stay|||
I'm not too keen on asking my friends if I can stay with them again.
Nu har jeg jo lige..." "Nej.
|||just|just|
Jetzt habe ich nur noch …“ „Nein.
Now I just have..." "No.
Det skal du slet ikke tænke på.
|||at all|||
Don't even think about it.
You are more than welcome to stay with me."
||jumped||||chest||
Jesper's heart almost jumped out of his chest at the thought.
"Ok.
"Okay.
Tak!
Thank you!
Det vil jeg rigtig gerne."
|||really|like
I really want to do that."
Hjertet slog et ekstra bukke-spring.
||||Schlag|Sprung
|beat|||leap|leap
The heart made an extra leap of faith.
"Alle tiders."
all|greatest of all time
"Great."
"Отлично".
De snakkede lidt videre.
|talked||
They talked a little further.
||||||||||was happy||himself
But Jesper found it difficult to listen, so pleased was he.
