1 And again he began to teach by the sea: and a great multitude was gathered to him, so that he got up into a ship and sat on the sea, and all the people around the sea were on the earth. Behold, the sower went out to sow.
4 Et dum seminat, aliud cecidit circa viam, et venerunt volucres cæli, et comederunt illud.

4 And while he was sowing, some fell by the way side, and the birds of the air came and ate it.

And another fell upon stony places, where it had not much earth: and immediately it sprung up, because it had no depth of earth: 6 And when the sun arose, it was scorched: and because it had no root, it withered away.

7 And another fell among thorns: and the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit.
8 Et aliud cecidit in terram bonam : et dabat fructum ascendentem et crescentem, et afferebat unum triginta, unum sexaginta, et unum centum.

8 And another fell on good ground: and it yielded fruit that sprang up and increased, and brought forth, some thirty, some sixty, and some a hundred.
9 Et dicebat : Qui habet aures audiendi, audiat.
|||has|||hear
9 And he said: He who has ears to hear, let him hear.
|||alone|they asked||||||||parable
10 And when he was alone, the twelve who were with him asked him about the parable.
||||given||know|mystery||||||outside|||||are made|to|||||||||||understand|lest they|convert||let their sins be forgiven||

11 And he said to them: It is given to you to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but to them that are without, all things are done in parables, 12 so that they may see, and may not see, and hearing, and hear, and not understand;
13 Et ait illis : Nescitis parabolam hanc ?
|||You do not know||
And he said to them: Know you not this parable?
Et quomodo omnes parabolas cognoscetis ?
|||parables|you will know
And how will you know all parables?
14 Qui seminat, verbum seminat.
|he sows||sows
14 He that soweth soweth the word.
|||||||is sown||||they have heard|immediately||||takes away|||seed|||hearts|
||||||||||||||||tira|||||||
15 And these are they who are about the way where the word is sown; and when they hear it, Satan immediately comes and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.
|||similarly||||are sown|||have heard||||||||||root|||but|temporary||then|arisen|tribulation||persecution||word||become offended
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||imediatamente se escandalizam|
16 And these are similarly those who are sown on rocky ground: when they hear the word, they immediately receive it with joy; 17 and they have no root in themselves, but are temporary; then, when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, they immediately stumble.
|||||||||||||and cares|of the age||deceit deception delusion|riches wealth||about|remaining|desires|entering in|choke the word|||||

18 And others are those sown among thorns: they are those who hear the word, 19 and the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things entering in choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.

20 And these are they who are sown on good soil, who hear the word and accept it and bear fruit, one thirtyfold, one sixtyfold, and one hundredfold.
|||||lamp|||a bushel|be placed|||bed
And he said to them: Does a lamp come to be put under a bushel, or under a bed?

is it not to be placed on the candlestick?
||||hidden|||may be revealed|nor|||hidden||||in public|come
||||oculto||||||||||||
For there is nothing hid, which shall not be made known; nor was it made secret, but that it should be revealed.
23 Si quis habet aures audiendi, audiat.
|if anyone||ears||
23 If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.
24 Et dicebat illis : Videte quid audiatis.
||to them|see||hear
And he said to them: Take heed what you hear.

|||||será dado||||
By what measure you use, it will be measured to you, and more will be given to you.
|||will be given|to him|||||even|||will be taken||him
||||||||||||será tirado||
25 For whoever has will be given to him; and whoever does not have, even what he has will be taken away from him.

26 And he said: So is the kingdom of God, as if a man should cast seed upon the earth, 27 and sleep and get up, night and day, and germinate and seed, and grow until he does not know.

28 For the earth of its own accord bears fruit, first the herb, then the ear, then the full corn in the ear.

29 And when he brings forth the fruit, he immediately throws out the sickle, for the harvest is at hand.
30 Et dicebat : Cui assimilabimus regnum Dei ?
||to whom|we will compare||
30 And he said: To whom shall we liken the kingdom of God?
aut cui parabolæ comparabimus illud ?

or to whose parables shall we compare it?

31 Just like a grain of mustard, which when sown in the ground is smaller than all the seeds that are in the ground: 32 and when it is sown, it rises and becomes greater than all the herbs, and it makes large branches, so that the birds of the air may dwell under its shade.

33 And with many such parables he spoke the word to them, as they were able to hear: 34 but without a parable he did not speak to them: and when they were alone, he explained all things to his disciples.
