1Jo, Hoofdstuk 5
||believes||||||||
1 Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God.
|||loves|||"has begotten"||||||||"from him"
And everyone who loves him who begat, loves also him who is born from him.
|||||children of God|"of God"|||||||we do
2 In this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do his commandments.
||||||||we keep them||||burdensome||
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not burdensome.
|||born||||"overcomes"|||||victory||overcomes||our faith|our faith
4 For everything that is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, our faith.
|||conquers|||||||||
5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
|||||||"and blood"|||||water||||water||blood
6 This is he who comes by water and blood, Jesus Christ: not in water only, but in water and blood.
||||"testifies" or "bears witness"||||
And it is the Spirit who testifies that Christ is the truth.
|three|||testimony|bear witness|||||||||they|three||
7 For there are three who bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit: and these three are one.
|||||bear witness||earth||||||||||
8 And there are three that bear witness on earth: spirit, and water, and blood: and these three are one.
|||"we accept"|||greater||"because"||||||is greater|||"has testified"||||
9 If we accept the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater: because this is the testimony of God, which is greater, because he testified about his Son.
10 Qui credit in Filium Dei, habet testimonium Dei in se.
10 He who believes in the Son of God has the testimony of God in himself.
||||||"him"||||||||||||
He who does not believe in the Son makes him a liar, because he does not believe in the testimony that God has testified about his Son.
11 And this is the testimony that God has given us eternal life: and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life: he that hath not the Son hath not life.

13 I am writing this to you so that you may know that you have eternal life who believe in the name of the Son of God. 14 And this is the confidence we have in him: because whatever we ask, according to his will, he hears us. 15 And we know that he hears us whatever we ask: we know for we have petitions which we ask of him. 16 He who knows that his brother sins a sin not unto death, let him ask, and life shall be given unto him that sinneth not unto death.

It is a sin unto death: I say not for him that any one may ask. 17 All iniquity is sin: and it is a sin unto death. .19 We know that we are of God: and the whole world is placed in the evil one. 20 And we know that the Son of God came and gave us a sense to know the true God, and to be in his true Son.

This is the true God, and eternal life. 21 Children, keep yourselves from idols.
Amen.
