最近 4989 の ウェブサイト から も 、あと は YouTube の コメント も 、 SNS から も メッセージ を いただく 数 が 増えました 。 みなさん 、いつも ありがとう ございます ！

今 まで ね 、 メッセージ を もらって 、 わ ー 嬉しい ！ と 思って 返信 を して （もしも 見落としたり 、返信 し 忘れて いる 場合 は 、すみません ）、

基本 的に は 返信 を して 、ルンルン って 思って 、うち の 旦那 とか に 、こんな メッセージ もらった んだ ーって 話したり して いた だけ だった んです が 、 せっかく ね 、そう やって もらってる なら 、もっと 積極的に ポッドキャスト の 中 で 紹介したり 、メッセージ を もらった 時 の 私 の 気持ち とか を 話したり したら いい んじゃない ？ って 言われて 、 確かに 。 って 思い まして 。

そう 、な ので 、毎回 いただいた 全部 の メール 、メッセージ を 紹介する のは 難しい と 思います が 、少しずつ でも 時間 を 取って お話して いければ なって 思います 。 で です ね 、早速 な んです が 、この 前 とっても 嬉しい メッセージ を いただいた んです 。

インタ の フォロワー さん で 、まあ フォロワー さん と いう か 私 も フォロー して いて 、お互い 結構 いいね とか 時々 コメント とか やりとり している 方 なんです が 、

私 が 最近 カレッジ で 勉強 し 始めた と いう こと を 先日 の ポッドキャスト で 話したり 、インタ へ の ポスト した こと に 対して 、その方 も コミュカレ で 勉強 されている ので 「お互い 頑張りましょう ね 」って いう メッセージ を いただいた んです よ 。 本当に その もらった メッセージ 内 に も 書いて あった んです が 、「仲間 が できて 嬉しい ー ！ 」って 感じ で 。 日本 人 の 方 なんです が 、私 と 同じ 境遇 で アメリカ に 来られて 、旦那さん の 就労 ビザ に 付帯 する 形 で 自分 の ビザ も 発行 されて と いう visa の 種類 が 全く 一緒 だった んです 。 更に は 就労 ビザ から グリーン カード へ の スイッチ を 計画 して いて 。

私 たち 夫婦 は ね 、グリーンカード 取得 に ついて は 、まだ 時間 が かかって いて 、未だ 取得 できて いません が 、その ご 夫婦 は 無事 グリーン カード も ゲット されて いて 。 日本 人 で 同じ 境遇 同じ Visa の 人 って なかなか 出会わ ない んです よ 。 いる はずな んです けど ね 。

住んで いる 土地柄 も ある ん でしょう けど 、 私 の 周り の 日本人 の 方 たち は 日本 の 企業 の 駐在 さん が 多くて 、 あと は 国際 結婚 さ れ た方 と か な ん です 。

SNS と か でも たま ー に 、 見かけます けど 、 もう その 就労 ビザ を 発行 した 企業 が グリーン カード も そのまま すぐに 手続き 開始 して くれて 、 結構 スムーズに 進んで いる人 が 多くて 、 一方 で 我が家 の ように 一筋縄 で は 行か ない 感じ で 、色々 苦労 している 場合 も ある んです が 、

あんまり そういう 方 たち を 見かけ なくて 、私 が 別に 意識 して 検索 とか していない から かも なんですけど 、 そんな 、苦労 して と いう か 、色々 ここ まで くる のに 心配 とか 気苦労 を たくさん してきた って いう の も 少し 似て て 、私 は 一方的に 親近感 を その方 に ね 、感じて いたんです よ 。 それ で 、 わ ー 元々 なんか 仲間って 思って いた けど 、 更に コミュカレ 仲間 に なった ー ！ って 私 喜んで いた んです が 、

更に 嬉しい こと を 言って もらえて 、

それ が 、2 年 前 くらい でした かね 、一度 私 カレッジ で 普通の ESL で は ない English 、一般的に は なんて いう んですかね 、Enlgish1ですか、を取っていた時期があって、

あと Math も です ね 。

当時 その こと も ポッドキャスト で 話して いたんです が 、

その 私 の 話 が 、それ が 大きな きっかけ 、転機 に なって その方 も Community Collage に 通い 始めた んです よ 。 って 聞いて 。

びっくり しました 。 私 が ね 、こう やって 話して いる こと を 聞いて くれている だけ でも 嬉しい のに 、私 が 話した 内容 に 誰 か が 影響 を 受けて 、新しい 行動 に つながって いくって 、すごく ない ですか 。 すごく 嬉しい です 。

その方 と は ね 、 Visa の 話 から コミュカレ の 話 まで 、話 が 合う でしょう し 、なんか ね 、気 が 合う んじゃないか なー と 勝手に 感じている ので 、

住んで いる ところ は 少し 離れて います が 、 いつか 近い うち に 直接 お 会い して おしゃべり できたら 楽しい ん だろう な ー なんて 妄想 して おります 。 と いう ね 、きっと この エピソード も 聞いて くれている であろう と いう 状況 の 中 、公開 告白 みたいに なって おります が 、 是非 是非 、今後 と も よろしく お 願い いたします 。 はい 、今回 は 元々 SNS で やりとり して いる 方 から いただいた メッセージ に ついて お 話しました が 、 全然 いきなり 、今日 初めて 聞きました ！ みたいな 感じ でも 全然 OK です し 、とっても 嬉しい ので 、ぜひ 皆さん 、お 気軽に メッセージ や コメント を ください 。

この コーナー で は 、アラフォー の 私 が アメリカ人 の 若者 に 混ざって カレッジ で 勉強 する 様子 に ついて お話して いきます 。 つい 最近 大学 の クラス を 取り 始めた んです が 、予定 としては このまま 2 年間 は クラス を 取り 続けて いければ いい な 、と いう こと で 、

日々 の 勉強 そのもの の こと だけ で は なく 、周り の クラスメイト や 関連 する 人 たち の こと とか 、先生 とかね 、アメリカ の コミュニティカレッジ の 仕組み とか どんな 感じ な の か とか 、

とにかく 、ネタ は 尽き ない ので は ない か と 思い まして 、

しかも タイトル 通り 、私 は かなり 周り の 他 の 生徒 より も 年上 で 、しかも 英語 に 対して まだまだ 苦手 意識 が ある し 、

そういう 、大変な ところ とか 、苦労 している 面 も シェア していきたい な と 思っていて 、 もちろん 前向きな ハッピーな 、 これ 嬉しかった ー 、 これ 楽しかった ー 、 みたいな こと も 、 あれば 、 積極 的に 皆さん に ご 報告 して いきたい で すし 、 だったら ひと つ の コーナー と して タイトル を つけて 、その 枠 で お話して いこう かな と 思いました 。 はい 、と いう こと で 皆さん 、新 コーナー 、「アラフォー On Campas !」よろしく お 願い いたします 。 さて 、今学期 の クラス が 始まって 2 週間 が 経ちました 。 率直な 現在 の 心境 は です ね 、

ヤバ い 。

ヤバい です 。

何 が ヤバい って 、あの ね 、英語 ばっかり ！ 英語 が たくさん 過ぎる ！ Too much English 。 お腹 いっぱい 。

いや 、当たり前 なんです けど ね 。

わかって いた こと なんです が 、

めっちゃ 英語 読ま せる やん って 思って 。 とにかく 時間 が かかる んです よ 。

予想 は して いました が 、本当に 常に 勉強 して いなきゃ 追いつか ないって 感じ で 、生活 の リズム が 乱れ まくり です 。 まだ ね 、2 週間 しか 勉強 して いません が 、時間 が かかる もの トップ 2 が です ね 、 ひと つ は 、読み物 です 。

授業 の やる こと リスト の 中 に 、普通に 教科書 の 第 1 章 を 読みましょう 。 みたいな 課題 が ある んです が 、

その 第 1 章 、めっちゃ 長い わけ 。 永遠に 読み 終わら ない んじゃ ない か みたいな 。

例えば それ が ビジネス の クラス で 、 ビジネス と は なん ぞ やみたい な 、 現代 の ビジネス を 取り巻く 環境 に ついて みたいな 内容 だ と 、 ちょっと 難しい 表現 と か 言葉 と か 混ざって て 、その 都度 調べて 一応 理解 しよう と 努めてる んです が 、とにかく 読む のに 時間 が かかる んです 。

私 が 思う に 、教科書 って 、一度に 本当に 端 から 端 まで 、一言 一句 しっかり 読み込んで 理解 しなくて も いい と 思ってて 、 ま 、本当 は ね 、そう できる の が 一番 かも しれない です けど 、

大切な 要点 を まずは 掴む こと が 重要でしょ 、それに 肉付け する 感じ で 関連する こと も ちゃんと 理解して いって 、

更に 余力 が あれば 本当に 教科書 の 中 でも サイド とか 下 の 方 に 書いて ある ような 、ちょっと した 小話 みたいな の を 読んだり 、もっと 突っ込んで 説明 している 部分 を 読んだり 、

そう すれば いい と 思う んです が 、

今 の 私 で は 、教科書 を 見て も 、どこ が 重要で しっかり ひとつひとつ の 単語 の 意味 も ちゃんと 理解して から 進まなければならない の か 、

逆に 、どの 部分 なら ちょっと リラックス して というか 、なんとなく 理解 した よ ー 程度 で ひとまず 進んで OK な の か が わからなくて 、

特に 、さっき も 言った んです が 、ビジネス の クラス の 教科書 が 基本 文字 ばっかり で 、とにかく 読み 進めない と 重要な ポイント は どこ かって 判断 が できなくて 、めっちゃ 時間 かかります 。 目先 の 小 テスト 、こっち だ と クイズ っ言う んです が 、毎週 チャプター 1 の クイズ 、チャプター 2 の クイズ みたいな 感じ で 小 テスト が あって 、 その テスト を クリア して いく こと だけ を 考えれば 、

基本 Open Book Quiz な ので 、テキスト を 普通に 見 ながら クイズ を 解ける ので 、

そんなに 必死に しっかり 読もう ！ 理解 しなきゃ ！ って ガチガチ に やら なくて も 、 ぶっちゃ け 大丈夫っちゃ ー 大丈夫な ん です が 、 でも 今 私 が 勉強 して いる 理由 と いう か 、目的 を 考える と 、

しっかり と した 英語 力 を つけた いって こと だ し 、ビジネス 全般 も だし 社会 の 仕組み と いうか 、世の中 で 起こって きた こと や 、今 起こっている こと を 理解 して もっと 自分 の 視野 を 広めた いって こと な ので 、

もちろん 、 各 クイズ や テスト を クリア して いって 単位 や 最終 的に は 学位 を 取りたいって いう の は あります けど 、 なんか クイズ に 答えられれば いい 、点数 だけ 取れれば いいって こと だ と 、日本 で 自分 が 学生 時代 に 勉強 して いた やり方 と 変わらない んです よね 。 若い 頃 は 本当に テスト の 為 だけ に 勉強 を して いた みたいな 感じ で 、それ は それ で 学力 も ついた と 思う んです けど 、

大人 に なった 今 、勉強 を する 意味 と か 目的 って 、本当に 知識 を 深めて いきたくて 、それ を 今後 の 人生 に 生かして いきたい んです よね 。 なんか 話 が よく わから なく なって きました が 、 何 が 言いたい か と いう と 、 ただ クイズ を パス する だけ の 掻い 摘んだ 、チョン 、チョン 、チョン って いう 勉強 の 仕方 で は なく 、 できる だけ 、しっかり と 理解 して いきたくて 、それに は 、大変だ けど しっかり と 読む 、知らない 単語 も 覚える 、って やっていきたい って こと です ね 。 でも 、とにかく 時間 が かかって ヤバい 。 と 。 そういう こと です 。

ディスカッション の 課題 です 。

今 学期 は コロナ の 影響 で 全 クラス online な んです が 、 Online って いって も 、必ず 出席 しなければならない 授業 の 時間 とか は なくて 、 各 クラス 、先生 から やる こと リスト の 指示 見たい の が 出て 、それ に 沿って 各自 勉強 を する という スタイル で 、 どの クラス でも ディスカッション って いう 課題 が あって です ね 、少しずつ 先生 に よって 細かな 指示 は 違う んです けど 、 基本 的に は ディスカッションページ みたいな の が オンライン 上 に あって 、

毎週 お 題 が 出る んです よ 。

例えば ビジネス の クラス であれば 、 ある 特定 の 会社 の 過去 に 起こった 事件 と か 問題 を 例 に 挙げて 、 これ に ついて 社会的 な 悪い 評判 を 挽回 する に は どう すれば 良い と 思います か ？ みたいな 。

まず 、その トピック に ついて 自分 の 意見 を 書き込む んです よ 。
