而家講啊喺建安十八年正月，嗰陣時春雨連綿就河湧水漲。 Now let me tell you, in the 18th year of Jian'an, in the first month, at that time the spring rain was continuous and the river was rising.

曹軍嘅日子呀非常之難捱喇。 The days for the Cao army are very hard to endure.

呢一日，曹操喺中軍帳同嗰班謀士商量。 this day| On this day, Cao Cao was in the central army tent discussing with his strategists.

有啲啊勸曹操收兵； Some people advised Cao Cao to withdraw his troops Some advised Cao Cao to withdraw the troops;

有啲又話喎喂而家正係春暖噃，打落去就啱喇唔好撤退啊噉。 while others said, hey, it's spring now, it's the right time to attack, don't retreat.

曹操啊揸唔定主意。 Cao Cao is indecisive.

正喺呢個十五十六嘅時候，東吳有個使者送信嚟。 At this time, around the fifteenth or sixteenth, there was an envoy from Eastern Wu delivering a letter.

曹操打開封信一睇，係孫權寫畀佢嘅。 Cao Cao opened the letter and saw that it was written by Sun Quan.

封信嘅大意呢就噉： The gist of the letter is as follows:

我同丞相都係漢朝嘅臣子。 Both the Prime Minister and I are subjects of the Han dynasty.

丞相你都唔諗住報國安民，而係隨便噉起兵殺害生靈，噉做就唔啱喇。 Prime Minister, you are not thinking about serving the country and ensuring the people's safety, but instead casually raising an army to kill the innocent. This is not right.

目前春天水漲，丞相你好快啲返扯嘞喎，如果唔係呀，又試有赤壁之禍㗎喇。 Currently, the spring waters are rising, Prime Minister, you should hurry back, otherwise, we might experience another disaster like the Battle of Red Cliffs.

丞相你好好地考慮下啦。 Prime Minister, please consider this carefully.

喺封信後便，又批多兩句，你唔死呀，我硬係唔安樂啊噉。 After the letter, I will add a few more words: if you don't die, I will never find peace.

跟住呢，佢就下令班師，率領大軍返去許昌。 Then, he ordered the troops to return and led the army back to Xuchang.

噉孫權亦都收兵返去秣陵。 Then Sun Quan also recalled his troops back to Moling.

過咗冇耐，孫權就同啲將軍商量話： not long after| Not long after, Sun Quan discussed with his generals and said:

曹操雖然撤退咗返去許昌，之劉備仲喺葭萌關未返。 Although Cao Cao has retreated back to Xuchang, Liu Bei is still at Jiameng Pass and hasn't returned.

不如就帶打曹操呢支軍隊去奪取荊州，噉豈唔係好？ Why not take Cao Cao's army to seize Jingzhou? Wouldn't that be great?

有個官員就叫做劉巴，佢行出嚟話： An official named Liu Ba stepped forward and said:

劉備係個梟雄，留佢喺西蜀咁耐仲唔叫佢走，直情係縱虎入屋呀。 Liu Bei is a formidable hero, keeping him in Western Shu for so long without sending him away is like letting a tiger into the house.

如果而家仲畀軍馬錢糧嚟資助佢，豈唔係與虎添翼？ If we continue to provide him with military horses and supplies, wouldn't that be adding wings to a tiger?

張任就話嘞：大丈夫行軍打仗，何必問嗰啲道士山野之人呢？ Zhang Ren replied: A true man in the military does not need to consult those Taoist hermits in the mountains.

劉璝話喇：噉又唔係喇，聖人有話至誠之道就可以前知吖嘛。 Liu Kui said: Well, that's not the case, the sage said that the way of utmost sincerity can lead to foresight.

我哋去搵個高明嘅人嚟問下，可以趨吉避兇㗎，去啦去啦。 Let's find a wise person to ask, we can avoid misfortune and seek good fortune, let's go, let's go.

噉啊於是四個人帶住五六十個馬軍，就嚟到錦屏山下。 So, the four of them brought along fifty or sixty cavalry and arrived at the foot of Jinping Mountain.

見到有個斬柴佬就問佢路啦，個斬柴佬話呢上到去至高個山頂就係喇噉。 They saw a woodcutter and asked him for directions, and the woodcutter said that the highest peak is up there.

噉佢哋四個人就上山。 So the four of them went up the mountain.

去到山頂，吖，果然見到有間庵。 |particle indicating realization| When they reached the top of the mountain, they indeed saw a temple.

噉佢哋行到門口，有個道童出嚟就問過姓名，帶佢哋入去。 So they walked to the entrance, and a young monk came out to ask for their names and led them inside.

只見嗰個紫虛上人啊，坐喺個蒲團上便。 They saw the Purple Void Master sitting on a mat.

噉啊四個人恭恭敬敬跪低叩頭行禮。 So the four of them respectfully knelt down and bowed.

請上人指點迷津，指示下佢哋嘅前程。 They asked the Master to guide them and indicate their future.

紫虛上人初時又唔肯講，誒話自己唔識睇啊。 The Master Zixu initially refused to speak, saying he didn't know how to read.

噉啊收尾劉璝懇求得多嘞，紫虛上人就叫個道童攞紙筆嚟，寫落八句說話交畀劉璝。 After much pleading from Liu Hui, Master Zixu asked a young disciple to bring paper and pen, and wrote down eight sentences to give to Liu Hui.

嗰八句說話係噉嘅： The eight sentences are as follows:

左龍右鳳，飛入西川。雛鳳墜地，臥龍升天。一得一失，天數當然。見機而作，勿喪九泉。 ||||one gain one loss||seize the opportunity and act| Left dragon, right phoenix, flying into the western river. The young phoenix falls to the ground, the sleeping dragon ascends to the sky. One gain, one loss, the heavenly decree is certain. Act when the opportunity arises, do not lose the nine springs.

劉璝又問嘞：噉請問我哋四個人嘅氣數如何呢？ Liu Hui then asked: So may I ask about the fate of the four of us?

定數難逃，何必再問！ The outcome is predetermined, why ask again!

劉璝仲想問落去，但係一睇，誒，紫虛上人都低眉合眼好似瞓着咗噉嘞，完全唔回答。 ||eh|| Liu Kui wanted to ask more, but when he looked, oh, the Purple Void Master was lowering his brows and closing his eyes as if he was asleep, completely unresponsive.

噉唔回答就算啦，四個人就落山嘞。 then if you don't answer forget it| If he doesn't respond, then forget it, the four of them went down the mountain.

劉璝又話喇：神仙嘅說話都不可不信㗎。 Liu Kui said again: One must believe in the words of immortals.

張任話：嘿！咩神仙吖，神經佬就真，聽佢個說話有乜好處啊！ Zhang Ren said|hey||| Zhang Ren said: Hey! What kind of immortal is that, he's just a lunatic, what good is it to listen to his words!

噉佢哋落咗山上馬繼續前進。 So they went down the mountain and continued their advance.

到咗雒縣之後，就分派人馬把守各處隘口。 After arriving at Luoxian, they assigned troops to guard various passes.

劉璝話：雒城係成都嘅保障，失咗雒城，就成都難保喇。 Liu Kui said||| Liu Wei said: Luocheng is the protection of Chengdu; if we lose Luocheng, Chengdu will be hard to defend.

我哋四個人公議喇，兩個人守城，兩個人去雒縣前便依山傍險，扎兩個營寨守住，唔畀敵兵逼近城池，各位意下如何呢？ The four of us discussed it and agreed that two people should guard the city while the other two go to Luoxian to set up two camps along the mountains and dangerous areas to prevent the enemy from approaching the city. What do you all think?

泠苞、鄧賢就話嘞：我哋願去扎寨。 Ling Pao|| Ling Bao and Deng Xian said: We are willing to set up the camps.

劉璝好高興，就分兩萬兵，由泠苞、鄧賢率領，離城六十里安營扎寨。 Liu Bei was very happy, so he sent two thousand troops, led by Ling Bao and Deng Xian, to camp sixty miles away from the city.

噉劉璝、張任呢就留低守衛雒城。 then Liu Kui| So Liu Bei and Zhang Ren stayed behind to guard Luocheng.

而家講下劉備，佢得咗涪水關之後啊，就同龐統研究點樣去奪取雒城。 Now let's talk about Liu Bei. After he took the Fushui Pass, he discussed with Pang Tong how to capture Luocheng.

我聽講泠苞、鄧賢，乃係西蜀名將，血氣方剛，恐怕老將軍唔係佢嘅敵手。 |Deng Xian||full of youthful vigor| I heard that Ling Bao and Deng Xian are famous generals from the West Shu, full of vigor and vitality. I'm afraid the old general might not be their match.

噉豈唔係誤咗主公嘅大事？ Wouldn't that be a mistake for the lord's important matter?

因此，我先至願意替老將軍嘅啫，完全係好意㗎。 therefore|| Therefore, I am willing to help the old general, it's purely out of good intentions.

黃忠噔噔噔行落台階，吩咐衛士：攞刀嚟！ Huang Zhong walked down the steps and instructed the guards: Bring me a knife!

唔好啊唔好啊唔好啊！ No, no, no!

劉備連忙制止佢話嘞：而家我帶兵奪取西川，全靠你兩位嘅力量。 Liu Bei quickly stopped him and said: Right now, I am leading the troops to seize Xichuan, and I rely on the strength of both of you.

今日兩虎相爭必有一傷，噉就實誤咗我嘅大事㗎。 Today, when two tigers fight, one will surely be injured, and that would ruin my great plan.

好喇好喇，我嚟同你哋做個和事佬，吓，大家唔好爭。 alright alright||ah| Alright, alright, I'm here to mediate for you all, hey, everyone don't argue.

到咗三更咁上下，嗰啲軍士個個都飽餐一頓，馬摘鈴人銜枚，卷旗束甲唔聲唔響就出發去劫寨喇。 By around the third watch, all the soldiers had a hearty meal, and quietly, with their horses saddled and flags rolled up, they set off to raid the camp.

行到半路，魏延個心諗： halfway down the road| On the way, Wei Yan thought:

只係去打鄧賢嘅營寨，顯唔出我嘅叻處吖。 It's just going to attack Deng Xian's camp, it doesn't show my strengths.
