네, 이 책에 또 흥미로운 점 중에하나는요. 시인들이 언어에 대해서 어떻게 접근하는가를 볼 수 있다는 점에서 재밌는데요. 아까 제가 백일장 얘기를 하면서 시인들이 어떤 사물을 다르게 본다 이렇게 말씀드렸지 않습니까. 또 하나 시인들의 좋은 시인들의 특징은 언어를 민감하게 바라보죠. 그래서 보통사람들과…. 시인의 가장 특징은.. 보통사람들은 언어를 뭉퉁그려서 대충 비슷하면 차이들에 대해서 별로 신경쓰지 않죠. 비슷한 말들을 조금씩 틀리게 씁니다. 조금씩 틀리게 쓰고 그것에 대해서 민감하지 않죠. 음감이 예민한 사람들과 음감이 둔한 사람들 뭐 이런 사람들의 차이와 비슷합니다. 제가 옛날에 대학다닐 때 국악연구회라는 동호회에 있었는데, 동아리에 있었는데, 거기서 제가 음을 연주하고 있으면 음감이 아주 예민한 작곡과 친구들이 듣다가 못 참고 얘길 하는거예요. 합주하는 둘중에 하나가 ¼음 낮게 계속 연주를 하고있다는 거예요. 음이 안 맞는 다는거죠. 하지만 1/4음이나 1/8음 이런 것은 저 같은 사람은 잘 인지를 할 수 없는 음인거죠. 저는 잘 맞다고 아주 기쁜 마음으로 연주를 하고 있었는데 그 친구에게는 아주 소음이었던 것이죠. 마찬가지로 시인들은 언어를 미세하게 구분해서 쓰는 훈련이 되어있는 사람들이고 그런 재능이 또 있는 분들이죠. 그런것을 보통은 숨기고 있습니다만, 훔긴다기 보다는 시로 표현하고 있습니다만, 김소연 시인은 이번에 그것을 산문으로 썼어요. 예를 들면 이런 식입니다.

유쾌, 상쾌, 경쾌, 통쾌

유쾌한 사람은 농담을 적절하게 잘 활용하며, 상쾌한 사람은 농담에 웃어줄 줄 알며, 경쾌한 사람은 농담을 멋지게 받아칠 줄 알며, 통쾌한 사람은 농담의 수위를 높일 줄 안다.

고민스럽고 복잡한 국면에서, 유쾌한 사람은 상황을 간단하게 요약할 줄 알며, 상쾌한 사람은 고민의 핵심을 알며, 경쾌한 사람은 고민을 휘발시킬 줄 알며, 통쾌한 사람은 고민을 역전시킬 줄 안다.

유쾌함에는 복잡함을 줄인 흔적이, 상쾌함에는 불순물을 줄인 흔적이, 경쾌함에는 무게를 줄인 흔적이, 통쾌함에는 앙금을 없앤 흔적이 남아있다.

우리는 좋은 사람을 만났을 때 유쾌해지고, 좋은 공간에 놓였을 때 상쾌해지며, 좋은 컨디션일때 경쾌해지고, 지리한 장마처럼 오래묵은 골칫거리들이 빠르고 정확하게 해결될 때 통쾌해진다.

나쁜 사람의 불행을 구경하며 우리는 유쾌하거나 상쾌하거나 경쾌해질 수는 없지만 통쾌해지기도 하는걸 보면, 통쾌하다는 것의 쾌감이 위험한 수위에서 찰랑대는 감정임에는 틀림없다.
