非洲 萬里 來 台 留學 ， 沒有 學習 卻 在 工作 身材 瘦高 、 說話 有 禮貌 的 烏干達 學生 Collines（ 中文名 為 柯木吉 ） 今年 21 歲 。 兩年 前 ， 他 來到 台灣 的 大學 讀書 。 他 想 在 台灣 學習 工程技術 ， 並且 在 課餘 時間 像 其他 留學生 一樣 ， 參加 學校 的 社團 或是 跟 同學們 一起 背上 背包 ， 來 一趟 環島旅行 。 在 台灣 待 了 兩年 ， 這些 事情 他 都 還 沒有 體驗 過 。 和 我們 在 台北 見面 的 這 一天 ， 他 看起來 很 累 。「 我 已經 快要 3 天 沒有 睡覺 了 ，」Collines 說 。 和 其 他 同年 齡 的 大學生 相比 ，Collines 在 台灣 大部分 的 時間 ， 都 在 不同 的 工廠 工作 。 他 經常 一天 要 做 兩份 不同 工作 。 2019 年 5 月 在 坎帕拉 （Kampala, 烏干達 首都 ），Collines 被 一張 來自 台灣 的 大學 招生 海報 吸引 ， 讓 他 決定 到 台灣 讀書 。 因為 少子 化 的 關係 ， 全 台灣 有 152 所 大學 的 學生 人 數 減少 ， 原本 很多 來 讀書 的 中國 學生 ， 因為 政治 和 疫情 影響 ， 人數 也 大大 地 下降 。 於是 ， 不少 台灣 的 私立 大學 ， 都 將 招生 目標 轉向 其他 開發 中 國家 。 有 一些 大學 ， 去 國外 招生 時 畫了 大餅 ， 他們 跟 那裡 的 學生 說 ： 來 台灣 之前 不 需要 學習 中文 ， 課程 以 英文 授課 ； 學校 會 給 獎學金 ， 還 會 讓 學生 到 公司 實習 ， 除了 可以 有 工作 經驗 ， 也 能 賺 生活費 。 但 沒想到 ， 這 些 只 是 為 吸引 他們 來 讀書 的 話術 。 到 台灣 後 ， 全 變 了 調 。 在 上課 的 時候 ， 常常 是 老師 講 中文 、 用 中文 教材 ， 其他 國家 的 留學生 像 鴨子 聽雷 ， 有 的 發呆 、 有 的 趴著 睡覺 、 有 的 上網 看 其他 的 英文 網站 。 Collines 說 ， 學校 有 安排 學 中文 課程 ， 但 要 在 短時間 內 聽懂 根本 不 可能 ，「 剛到 台灣 ， 我們 只 會 說 『 你好 』、『 謝謝 』， 這些 很 簡單 的 中文 。」 他 跟 學校 的 老師 說 ， 但 老師 卻 告訴 他 ：「 你 想 要 上 英文 的 課去 美國 ， 這裡 是 台灣 ， 要 用 中文 」。 在 課堂 上 發呆 、 學 不到 任何 知識 ， 留學生 們 原本 的 興奮 與 期待 ， 變成 失望 ； 一 學期 、 兩 學期 過後 ，「 什麼 也 沒 學到 」 的 情況 更 讓 他們 難過 、 生氣 ， 覺得 自己 被騙 了 。 一位 在 私立 大學 教書 的 老師 告訴 我們 ：「 學校 因為 學生 不夠 ， 連 老師 們 都 有 招生 壓力 ， 假日 或 休息 時間 都 要 幫忙 招生 ， 也 10 年 沒有 拿 年終獎金 了 ！」

好 ，歡迎 大家 回來 ，現在 ，讓 我們 一起 來看 這 篇 文章 吧 ！ 文章 一 開始 ，它 說 ：「身材 瘦高 、說話 有 禮貌 的 烏干達 學生 Collines （中文名 為 柯木吉 ）今年 21歲 。 兩年 前 ，他 來到 台灣 的 大學 讀書 。 他 想 在 台灣 學習 工程技術 ，並且 在 課餘時間 像 其他 留學生 一樣 ，參加 學校 的 社團 或是 跟 同學們 一起 背上 背包 ，來 一趟 環島 旅行 。」 這裡 ，有 幾個 重要 的 詞語 ： 1.工程技術 ：跟 建築 、科學 有關 的 技術 。 2.課餘 時間 ：下課後 的 時間 、不是 上課 的 時間 。 3.留學生 ：來 台灣 讀書 的 外國 學生 ，像 你們 如果 來 台灣 讀書 ，就 都 是 留學生 。 4.環島旅行 ：繞 台灣 旅行 一圈 。 這樣 的 旅行 方式 在 最近 這 幾年 在 台灣 的 年輕人 裡面 ，是 很 流行 的 。 再來 ，文章 說 ：「在 台灣 待了 兩年 ，這些 事情 他 都 還沒 有 體驗 過 。」 就是 參加 社團 、去 環島旅行 ，這些 事情 他 都 還 沒有 體驗 過 。 為 什麼 呢 ？ 因為 和 其他 同年齡 的 大學生 相比 ， Collines 在 台灣 大部分 的 時間 ，都 在 不同 的 工廠 工作 。 他 經常 一天 要 做 兩份 不同 工作 。 這 不 像是 一般 學生 的 生活 ，聽 起來 很 辛苦 ，也 沒有 時間 可以 好好地 學習 。 為 什麼 會 這樣 呢 ？ 讓 我們 往下 看 ！ 文章 說 ：「2019年 5月 在 坎帕拉 （ Kampala ,烏干達 首都 ）， Collines 被 一張 來自 台灣 的 大學 招生 海報 吸引 ，讓 他 決定 到 台灣 讀書 。」 招生 ：找 學生 ，去 高中 跟 學生 說 ：「來 我們 學校 讀書 吧 ！ 」招生 ，就是 透過 活動 、宣傳 吸引 學生 。 為什麼 學校 要 去 國外 招生 呢 ？ 文章 說 ：「因為 少子化 的 關係 ，全台灣 有 152所 大學 的 學生 人數 減少 ，原本 很多 來 讀書 的 中國 學生 ，因為 政治 和 疫情 影響 ，人數 也 大大 地 下降 。 於是 ，不少 台灣 的 私立 大學 ，都 將 招生 目標 轉向 其他 開發 中 國家 。」 少子化 的 意思 就是 小孩子 變少了 ，年輕人 都 不 生 小孩 。 這 幾年 在 台灣 ，少子化 的 問題 很 嚴重 。 薪水 低 、 太忙 、 太累 、 買房子 太貴 、 要讀 研究所 、 出國 唸書 等等 等 ， 很多很多 原因 ， 都 讓 台灣 的 年輕人 不想 結婚 ， 也 不想 生小孩 。 因為 小孩 變少 了 ，學生 也 跟 著 變少 ，很多 學校 都 出現 招生 問題 ，就是 招 不到 學生 ，沒有 學生 。 沒有 學生 ，就 沒有 學費 ，學校 就 沒有 錢 ，沒 辦法 經營 下去 ，在 很多 台灣 的 私立 大學 都 有 這個 問題 。 在 台灣 ， 我們 跟 一些 其他 國家 的 教育 情況 不 一樣 ， 我們 這裡 比較 好 的 大學 、 最好 的 大學 ， 都 是 公立 的 。 私立 的 ，通常 都 是 比較 差 的 、資源 也 很 少 。 當然 ，也 有 幾所 私立 大學 還 不錯 ，是 好 的 私立 大學 ，但是 大部分 的 私立 大學 跟 公立 學校 比 起來 ，都 是 比較 差 的 。 所以 在 台灣 ，讀 私立 的 大學 ，不但 學費 很 貴 ，資源 又 少 ，所以 一般 人 會 在 高中 的 時候 努力學習 ，讓 自己 能 考上 公立 的 大學 。 最近 ，因為 政治 和 疫情 的 關係 ，來 台灣 讀書 的 中國 學生 人數 減少 ，很多 私立 大學 ，因為 私立 大學 比較 沒有 人 想要 去 讀 。 為了 找 學生 ，就 把 目標 轉向 其他 開發 中 國家 ，意思 就是 他們 開始 去 開發 中 國家 找 學生 。 開發 中 國家 ，就是 經濟 、基礎 建設 比較 不好 的 國家 。 接下來 ，文章 說 ，有 一些 大學 ，去 國外 招生 時 畫 了 大餅 ，他們 跟 那裡 的 學生 說 ：來 台灣 之前 不 需要 學習 中文 ，課程 以 英文 授課 ；學校 會 給 獎學金 ，還 會 讓 學生 到 公司 實習 ，除了 可以 有 工作 經驗 ，也 能 賺 生活費 。 在 這裡 ，我們 來 學 一個 新 的 詞語 叫做 畫 大餅 。 畫大餅 的 意思 就是 給 你 一個 很好的 、很 漂亮 的 想像 ，把 未來 說得 很 好 ，讓 你 覺得 很 期待 。 在 這篇文章 中 ，這個 私立 的 大學 去 國外 招生 的 時候 ，一直 畫 大餅 ，一直 告訴 學生 ：「來 台灣 留學 很 好 ，而且 不用 先 會 中文 ，你 來 再 學 就 好 了 ！ 學校 會 用 英文 上課 ，然後 你 還 可以 去 公司 實習 ，你 不但 可以 有 工作 經驗 ，又 可以 賺錢 。」 講得 很 好聽 ，但是 沒想到 ，這些 只是 為 了 吸引 學生 來 讀書 的 話術 ，到 台灣 後 ，全 變 了 調 。 話術 就是 說話 的 技巧 、說話 的 方法 。 所以 ，這些 學校 把 來 台灣 讀書 說 得 很 美好 ，說 得 很 好聽 。 但是 學生 真的 來 台灣 後 ，發現 全 變 了 調 ，這裡 有 一 個 新 的 詞語 ，叫做 「變調 」。 變調 的 意思 就是 變得 不 一樣 ，變得 跟 你 想 的 不 一樣 ，而且 是 變 不好 。 比如 ，你 可以 說 ： 「發生 車禍 後 ，他 的 生活 全 變 了 調 。」 「疫情 爆發 後 ，我們 的 生活 全 變 了 調 。」 好 ，讓 那 我們 繼續 往下 看 。 Collines 說 ，在 上課 的 時候 ，常常 是 老師 講 中文 、用 中文 教材 ，其他 國家 的 留學生 像 鴨子 聽 雷 ，有 的 發呆 、有 的 趴著 睡覺 、有 的 上網 看 其他 的 英文 網站 。 這裡 有 兩個 重要 的 詞語 ： 1.鴨子 聽 雷 ： 台灣 的 俗語 ，通常 我們 會 用 台語 （閩南語 ）來 說 這句 話 ，他 的 意思 就是 聽 了 也 聽不懂 。 就 好像 鴨子 聽到 雷聲 ， 不 知道 那 是 什麼 意思 ， 不 知道 聽到 雷聲 ， 可能 是 要 下雨 了 。 比如 ，你 可以 說 ： 「每次 上 數學課 ，我 就 像 鴨子 聽 雷 ──有 聽 沒 有 懂 。」 2.發呆 ：意思 就是 不專心 ，沒有 在 做 事情 ，也 沒有 在 想 、沒有 在 動腦 。 這是 留學生 Collines 在 台灣 上課 的 樣子 。 希望 你 在 聽 Learn Taiwanese Mandarin 這個 Podcast的 時候 ，不會 像 鴨子 聽雷 ，有 聽 沒 有 懂 。 應該 沒有 吧 ？ 你 還在 嗎 ？ 沒有 在 發呆 吧 ？ 沒有 在 看 其他 的 英文 網站 ？ 沒有 在 趴著 睡覺 嗎 ？ 好 ，我們 繼續 往下 看 。 接下來 ，文章 提到 ，這個 留學生 ， Collines 說 ，學校 有 安排 學 中文 課程 ，但 要 在 短時間 內 聽懂 根本 不 可能 ，他 說 剛到 台灣 的 時候 ，他們 只 會 說 『你好 』 、『謝謝 』 ，這些 很 簡單 的 中文 。」 他 跟 學校 的 老師 說 ，你們 都 用 中文 ，但是 我 都 像 鴨子 聽雷 一樣 聽不懂 。 但 老師 卻 告訴 他 ：「 你 想要 上 英文 的 課去 美國 ， 這裡 是 台灣 ， 要 用 中文 」。 所以 他 在 課堂 上 ，學 不到 任何 知識 ，什麼 也 沒 學到 ，讓 他 很 失望 、很 生氣 ，覺得 自己 被騙 了 。 最後 ，這個 新聞報導 還有 去 採訪 一位 在 私立 大學 教書 的 老師 ，那個 老師 說 ：「學校 因為 學生 不夠 ，老師 們 都 有 招生 壓力 ，假日 或 休息 時間 都 要 幫忙 招生 ，也 10年 沒有 拿 年終獎金 了 ！ 」 我們 來 學 最後 一個 非常 有用 的 詞語 ，叫做 「年終獎金 」！ 年終獎金 ：在 每年 的 最後 ，要 過年 前 ，公司 會 發給 員工 的 獎金 。 在 台灣 ，你 拿到 年終獎金 ，因為 他 是 多 出來 的 錢 ，所以 你 可以 拿 它 來 包 紅包 ，帶 家人 出去 玩 、或是 買 新 衣服 給 自己 。 但是 不是 所有 的 公司 都 會發 年終獎金 ，如果 那個 公司 沒有 賺錢 ，有 可能 就 不會 有 年終獎金 。 在 文章 裡 ，沒有 賺錢 的 大學 就 沒有 給 老師 年終獎金 。 在 台灣 有 一些 大 公司 ，年終獎金 特別 多 ，在 經濟 好 的 時候 ，可能 有 一年 的 年終獎金 ，超好 的 ！ 就是 給 你 一年 的 薪水 。 好 ，我 說明 完 這 篇 文章 比較 難 的 詞語 了 ！ 大家 聽 完 後 ，覺得 怎麼樣 ？ 其實 我 覺得 發生 這樣 的 事情 ，非常 的 丟臉 ，也 很 生氣 。 那 為什麼 我 想 跟 大家 分享 這個 新聞 呢 ？ 就是 希望 大家 在 計畫 留學 的 時候 ，可以 多多 比較 、多多 注意 ，不要 只是 為了 來 台灣 讀書 ，就 去 選擇 不好 的 學校 。 - 台灣 當然 有 很多 好 的 事情 、 美麗 的 地方 ， 但是 我 不想 只 講好 的 事情 ， 我 覺得 只要 是 重要 的 我 都 會講 。 那 在 這 篇 文章 中 的 大學 ，也 已經 被 暫停 招生 了 ，大家 不用 擔心 ！ 基本上 ，只要 你 申請 的 是 公立 大學 ，或是 名聲 好 的 大學 ，就 不會 發生 這樣 的 事情 。 我 是 家榆 ，希望 這 一集 的 Podcast 能 幫助 到 你 學習 中文 ，我們 下次 再見 啦 ！ 掰掰 ！
