THE SHEEP, THE WOLF, AND THE STAG
A Stag once asked a Sheep to lend him a measure of wheat, saying that his friend the Wolf would be his surety.
طلب الغزال ذات يوم من الخروف أن يقرضه مقدارًا من القمح، قائلاً إن صديقه الذئب سيكون ضامنًا له.
Un jour, un cerf demanda à un mouton de lui prêter une mesure de blé, en disant que son ami le loup se porterait garant.
The Sheep, however, was afraid that they meant to cheat her; so she excused herself, saying, "The Wolf is in the habit of seizing what he wants and running off with it without paying, and you, too, can run much faster than I. So how shall I be able to come up with either of you when the debt falls due?"
ولكن الخروف خاف أن يقصدوا خداعها، فاعتذرت قائلة: "إن الذئب معتاد على الاستيلاء على ما يريد والهروب به دون أن يدفع، وأنت أيضًا تستطيعين الركض أسرع مني بكثير. فكيف سأتمكن من الحصول على أي منكما عندما يحين موعد سداد الدين؟"
La Brebis, craignant qu'ils ne veuillent la tromper, s'excusa en disant : "Le Loup a l'habitude de s'emparer de ce qu'il veut et de s'enfuir avec sans payer, et vous aussi, vous courez beaucoup plus vite que moi ; alors, comment pourrai-je vous rattraper l'un ou l'autre quand la dette sera échue ?
