News in levels, Playboy May Sell for $500M

Playboy May Sell for $500M

First it was the Playboy Mansion and now according to reports after decades of provocation, Playboy Enterprises might be up for sale.

The Wall Street Journal was first to report that Playboy is "exploring a sale" and could potentially be valued at $500 million. On Thursday March 24, Playboy CEO Scott Flanders said the sale of the company "arose out of the interest in the sale of the mansion." In January, the company put the Playboy Mansion up for sale for $200 million but it has not been sold yet. A sale of Playboy Enterprises would include assets such as Playboy's website, the magazine, the mansion, licensing deals and various entertainment extensions. Hugh Hefner founded Playboy Enterprises in 1953 and took the company private in 2011. Earlier this month, Playboy magazine published its first issue without fully nude photos.
