Amore e psiche, un mito greco dalle metamorfosi di Apuleio.

C'era una volta un re che aveva tre figlie. Le tre ragazze erano belle ed eleganti e avevano

moltissimi pretendenti. La figlia più piccola, in particolare, era tanto dolce,

bella e gentile che gli uomini al suo passaggio si inchinavano fino a terra,

come se stesse passando Afrodite, dea dell'amore e della bellezza.

Un giorno una ninfa raccontò ad Afrodite di come gli uomini si comportassero in presenza

della figlia più piccola del re, che si chiamava Psiche, e la dea si arrabbiò moltissimo.

Chiamò suo figlio Amore e gli disse, Non accetto che una mortale sia osannata in quel modo. Io sono

l'unica che può provocare certe reazioni negli uomini. Colpisci Psiche con una delle tue frecce

e fai in modo che si innamori del mortale più brutto e antipatico del mondo, gli disse.

Amore partì subito. Quando arrivò davanti al letto di Psiche e la vide dormire, si fermò un istante.

Questa ragazza è davvero meravigliosa, sussurrò. Non posso esaudire il desiderio di mia madre. Non

colpirò mai il cuore di questa fangiulla con alcuna freccia, anzi temo che lei abbia già colpito il mio.

Così dicendo, Amore tornò sul monte Olimpo e Psiche crebbe, diventando ancora più bella. Le sue

sorelle si sposarono, ma lei restò da sola, perché nessun uomo aveva il coraggio di chiederla in

moglie. Avevano tutti paura di far arrabbiare Afrodite. Il re e la regina, vedendo che nessuno

voleva sposare Psiche, si rivolsero agli oracoli. Nessuno la sposerà mai, risposero gli oracoli,

e se non volete che l'ira di Afrodite ricada sul vostro regno, dovete incatenare Psiche ad una

roccia e lasciare che un terribile mostro la divori. Il re e la regina scoppiarono in lacrime,

consapevoli che gli oracoli parlassero la voce degli dèi e che non avessero altra scelta se

non fare come avevano detto. Presero Psiche, la incatenarono ad una roccia e con le lacrime

agli occhi si allontanarono. Psiche era sola, infreddolita e senza alcuna colpa ed era molto

triste. Si addormentò piangendo, nell'attesa che il mostro arrivasse e la divorasse. Non

sapeva però che negli ultimi anni amore aveva vegliato su di lei e aveva appena ordinato a

Zefiro, dio del vento, di salvarla. Zefiro strappò le funi che legavano Psiche, la prese in braccio e la portò via.

Quando Psiche si risvegliò si sentiva inspiegabilmente felice e si guardò intorno.

Era sdraiata su un letto di gigli, in lontananza c'era una fontana splendente e

accanto alla fontana un meraviglioso palazzo fatto di oro e avorio. Psiche si alzò in piedi e si

avvicinò al palazzo. Poi con curiosità ma anche un po' di paura entrò. Il palazzo era gigantesco ed

elegante ma le stanze erano tutte vuote. Che strano, disse Psiche, nessuno abita in queste stanze. Una

voce parlò senza che Psiche capisse da dove venisse. Ci abiti tu Psiche, tutto ciò che vedi è tuo.

Psiche si guardò intorno ma non vide nessuno, chiuse gli occhi e quando li riaprì sul tavolo

erano comparsi vassoi con i cibi più buoni e pregiati. Psiche si sedette e mangiò, poi si addormentò.

Quando si svegliò uscì nei giardini per fare una passeggiata ed improvviso sul suo capo comparve

un velo dorato e la voce parlò di nuovo. Immergi le mani nell'acqua della fontana.

Psiche obbedì e per ogni istante le parve di sentire un'altra mano che stringeva la sua.

Sei la donna che amo Psiche, disse la voce in un tenero sussurro e voglio che tu sia al sicuro.

Ascolta le mie parole, le tue sorelle torneranno presto alla roccia dove ti hanno lasciato,

convinte di farlo perché ti vogliono bene e vogliono piangere sulla tua tomba. In realtà

qui come hai fatto con me. Disse Psiche. La mattina seguente Zefiro andò in cerca delle

sorelle e quando le trovò le prese in braccio e le portò al palazzo di Psiche. Quando le sorelle

la videro scoppiarono in lacrime e corsero da lei. Le tre ragazze risero e si divertirono e

Psiche raccontò di come Zefiro l'avesse salvata dal mostro e di come in quel palazzo lei avesse

trovato l'amore. Ditelo anche ai nostri genitori le pregò Psiche. Dite loro che sono viva che sto

bene e che sono felice. Hai parlato di un tuo innamorato? Dov'è lui ora? Vuole conoscerci? Chiese

la sorella maggiore. Psiche ricordando la promessa che aveva fatto la sera prima pensò molto prima

di rispondere poi disse. E' un giovane molto affascinante il più bello del mondo oserei dire.

Però sento la sua voce molto poco e non l'ho mai visto in volto. E' sempre nella foresta a caccia e

io qui mi sento un po' sola. E' per questo che vi ho mandato a chiamare. Adesso da brave venite con

me nella stanza dei tesori e prendete tutto ciò che vi piace. Psiche voleva fare dei bei regali

alle sue sorelle ma loro quando entrarono nella stanza dei tesori divennero molto invidiosa.

Tuttavia ciò non impedì loro di prendere le più belle collane che ci fossero nella stanza. A fine

giornata Psiche richiamò Zefiro e le fece riaccompagnare a casa. Quando Zefiro fu andato via

le due sorelle iniziarono a parlare tra di loro e a dire cattiverie su Psiche. Lei non si merita

un marito affascinante un palazzo d'oro e avorio e una stanza dei tesori come quella. Disse la più

grande. Sono d'accordo perché a lei sia a noi no? Dobbiamo escogitare qualcosa. Rispose la seconda

sorella. Nel frattempo nel palazzo la voce era tornata a parlare a Psiche. Hai fatto come ti ho

detto? Le chiese. Psiche è a noi e raccontò di come avesse sviato la domanda sul suo innamorato. La

voce però le disse che le sorelle non erano state contente della visita. Anzi proprio in quel momento

stavano escogitando un piano perché Psiche perdesse tutte le sue ricchezze compreso l'amore

dell'affascinante giovane. Lei però non volle credergli e chiese che loro fossero portate al

palazzo ancora una volta. La voce acconsentì ma l'avvertì di non dare retta a ciò che le avrebbero

detto le sorelle. Faranno in modo di destare la tua curiosità perché tu voglia vedere il mio volto.

Non permetterglielo oppure verremo separati per sempre disse la voce. Di nuovo Zefiro andò a

prendere le sorelle e le portò al palazzo di Psiche e loro finsero di essere molto felici

di rivedere la sorella. Dopo aver fatto un bagno nella fontana e aver mangiato le sorelle tornarono

nella stanza dei tesori e la più grande disse non posso sopportare diverterti imbrogliata

sorellina. Psiche non capì il tuo innamorato non è un giovane affascinante continuò la

da lei. Appena la sentì convinta che di fronte a lei ci fosse davvero un terribile serpente scoprì

la lampada. Però nella stanza non c'era un mostro ma il più bel giovane di tutto l'olimpo amore il

dio dell'amore. Psiche si lasciò cadere a terra insieme alla lampada ad olio dal quale uscì una

goccia di olio bollente che scottò la spalla di amore. Lui provò a fuggire ma Psiche lo prese per

una gamba. Amore si alzò in volo e Psiche restò appesa mentre lui volava via finché non ebbe più

forze e si lasciò andare cadendo a terra e perdendo conoscenza. Ti piacciono le storie

permetterti però di lavorare qui non voglio che le ire di Afrodite ricadano su di me vattene subito.

Psiche abbassò il capo e ripartì con la tristezza nel cuore vagò da un posto all'altro finché un

giorno venne vista da uno dei servitori di Afrodite che la condusse al cospetto della dea.

Afrodite ordinò a Psiche di separare tre enormi sacchi di semi e di farlo prima del tramonto.

Povera Psiche era un'impresa impossibile. Psiche non ci provò nemmeno iniziò a piangere disperata.

Dopo un po' passò di lì una formica che intenerita dalla ragazza decise di aiutarla.

Chiamò tutte le altre formiche e divisero i semi come aveva ordinato Afrodite.

Al tramonto il lavoro era finito.

Afrodite sapeva che non poteva essere stata Psiche a dividere i semi ma non sapeva come

dimostrarlo. La mattina dopo Afrodite condusse Psiche sulle rive di un fiume accanto ad un

pascolo e le ordinò di filare la lana di tutte le pecore del pascolo. Entro il tramonto avrebbe

dovuto esserci tanta lana da poterti essere una tunica. Poi Afrodite scomparve. Di nuovo Psiche

sapeva che non avrebbe potuto portare a termine il compito da sola. Poco dopo però le canne che

crescevano sulla riva del fiume iniziarono a cantare. O Psiche giovane e bella più affascinante

di te non c'è nessuna donzella. Insegui le pecore finché stanche non saranno. Nessun

lamento faranno quando dormiranno. La lana tu potrai tagliare e la richiesta di Afrodite a

contentare. Psiche ringraziò per il consiglio e quando al tramonto portò la lana ad Afrodite

questa si arrabbiò come non mai. Come era possibile che Psiche riuscisse sempre a cavarsela? Ogni giorno

pensava ad un compito più difficile ma ogni giorno Psiche lo portava a termine. Vi starete

chiedendo che fine avesse fatto Amore tanto innamorato di Psiche da sfidare persino sua

madre. Ebbene la scottatura provocata dall'olio bollente ci mise lungo tempo a guarire e Amore

era all'oscuro di ciò che stesse accadendo alla sua amata. Quando finalmente la ferita fu guarita

Amore cercò Psiche in tutto il mondo. La trovò dopo un lungo viaggio dopo che Psiche aveva appena

portato a termine l'ennesima richiesta di Afrodite. Amore abbracciò la giovane e le chiese di sposarlo.

Psiche felice e innamorata accettò. Prima di poter celebrare le nozze però Amore doveva liberare

Psiche da Afrodite. Volo quindi sull'Olimpo e chiese agli dei di liberare Psiche dai tormenti

di Afrodite. Loro accolsero la richiesta di Amore e liberarono la ragazza. Così Amore tornò sulla

terra, prese Psiche e volò insieme a lei sul monte Olimpo dove i due innamorati vissero per sempre

felici e contenti.
