13 Nos autem ascendentes navem, navigavimus in Asson, inde suscepturi Paulum : sic enim disposuerat ipse per terram iter facturus. ||||||to Asson||to take||||had arranged||||| 13 And we, having boarded the ship, sailed to Asson, from there to receive Paulus: for thus he himself had arranged to make his journey by land. 14 Cum autem convenisset nos in Asson, assumpto eo, venimus Mitylenen. ||had convened|||||||to Mytilene 14 And when he had met us at Asson, we took him and came to Mytilene. 15 Et inde navigantes, sequenti die venimus contra Chium, et alia applicuimus Samum, et sequenti die venimus Miletum. |||||||Chios|||we landed|Samos|||||Miletus 15 And sailing from there, the next day we came against Chios, and we made another approach to Samos, and the next day we came to Miletus. 16 Proposuerat enim Paulus transnavigare Ephesum, ne qua mora illi fieret in Asia. he had proposed|||to sail across|||||||| 16 For Paul had proposed to sail across Ephesus, that he might not be delayed in Asia. Festinabat enim, si possibile sibi esset, ut diem Pentecostes faceret Jerosolymis. He was feasting|||||||||| For he hastened, if it were possible for him, to make the day of Pentecost in Jerusalem.

17 A Mileto autem mittens Ephesum, vocavit majores natu ecclesiæ. |Miletus||||||| 17 And sending from Miletus to Ephesus, he called the elders of the church. 18 Qui cum venissent ad eum, et simul essent, dixit eis : Vos scitis a prima die qua ingressus sum in Asiam, qualiter vobiscum per omne tempus fuerim, 19 serviens Domino cum omni humilitate, et lacrimis, et tentationibus, quæ mihi acciderunt ex insidiis Judæorum : 20 quomodo nihil subtraxerim utilium, quominus annuntiarem vobis et docerem vos, publice et per domos, 21 testificans Judæis atque gentilibus in Deum pœnitentiam, et from the snares of the Jews: 20 how could I not take away anything useful from which I might announce to you and teach you, publicly and in houses, 21 testifying to Jews and Gentiles repentance toward God and faith in our Lord Jesus Christ. 22 Et nunc ecce alligatus ego spiritu, vado in Jerusalem : quæ in ea ventura sint mihi, ignorans : 23 nisi quod Spiritus Sanctus per omnes civitates mihi received from the Lord Jesus, to testify to the Gospel of the grace of God. 25 Et nunc ecce ego scio quia amplius non videbitis faciem meam vos omnes, per quos transivi prædicans regnum Dei. 25 And now, behold, I know that all of you, through whom I passed preaching the kingdom of God, will no longer see my face. 26 Quapropter contestor vos hodierna die, quia mundus sum a sanguine omnium. therefore|I contest||||||||| 26 For this reason I confess to you this day, because I am clean from the blood of all. 27 Non enim subterfugi, quominus annuntiarem omne consilium Dei vobis. ||I escaped|||||| 27 For I did not conceal myself from announcing to you all the counsel of God. 28 Attendite vobis, et universo gregi, in quo vos Spiritus Sanctus posuit episcopos regere ecclesiam Dei, quam acquisivit sanguine suo. ||||flock|||||||bishops||||||| 28 Pay attention to yourselves, and to the whole flock, in which the Holy Spirit has appointed you bishops to govern the church of God, which he acquired with his own blood. 29 Ego scio quoniam intrabunt post discessionem meam lupi rapaces in vos, non parcentes gregi. |||||discession|||||||not sparing| 29 I know that after my departure ravenous wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock. 30 Et ex vobisipsis exsurgent viri loquentes perversa, ut abducant discipulos post se. ||from you||||||to abduct||| 30 And men will arise from among yourselves, speaking perverse things, in order to draw away the disciples after them. 31 Propter quod vigilate, memoria retinentes quoniam per triennium nocte et die non cessavi, cum lacrimis monens unumquemque vestrum. ||||retaining||||||||I have ceased|||admonishing|each| 31 Therefore watch, remembering that for three years I did not cease night and day, with tears admonishing each one of you. 32 Et nunc commendo vos Deo, et verbo gratiæ ipsius, qui potens est ædificare, et dare hæreditatem in sanctificatis omnibus. |||||||||||||||||sanctified| 32 And now I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, who is able to build up, and to give an inheritance in all that is sanctified. 33 Argentum, et aurum, aut vestem nullius concupivi, sicut 34 ipsi scitis : quoniam ad ea quæ mihi opus erant, et his qui mecum sunt, ministraverunt manus istæ. ||||||I have desired||||||||||||||||have ministered|| 33 I coveted no one's silver, gold, or clothing, as 34 you yourselves know: because these hands ministered to the things that I needed, and to those who are with me. 35 Omnia ostendi vobis, quoniam sic laborantes, oportet suscipere infirmos ac meminisse verbi Domini Jesu : quoniam ipse dixit : Beatius est magis dare, quam accipere. |||||||||||||||||Blessed||||| 35 All things have been shown to you, since you are laboring like this, you must take up the weak and remember the word of the Lord Jesus: since he said: It is more blessed to give than to receive. 36 Et cum hæc dixisset, positis genibus suis oravit cum omnibus illis. 36 And when he had said these things, he fell on his knees and prayed with them all. 37 Magnus autem fletus factus est omnium : et procumbentes super collum Pauli, osculabantur eum, 38 dolentes maxime in verbo quod dixerat, quoniam amplius faciem ejus non essent visuri. ||weeping|||||falling upon||neck||they were kissing||||||||||||||to see 37 And there was a great weeping of all: and they bowed down upon Paul's neck, and kissed him, 38 sorrowing most of all at the word which he had said, because they were no longer to see his face. Et deducebant eum ad navem. And they brought him to the ship.
