We spent a week in Thailand, a few days in Bangkok and a few days on the island Ko Sumet. We even rode an elephant, and went to a floating market. Both unforgettable experiences, unique to the country. Thailand is where we really fell in love with Thai tea and Thai food. Oh my goodness, I'm even dreaming of it now! One evening we were walking through an outdoor Thai market around 9pm in the evening. There were so many different vendors, some selling souvenirs, others selling clothes, DVD's—you name it, you could find it! There was a mix of both locals and tourists. There were several karaoke clubs and bars and restaurants along the strip too. One guy approached our friend Josh and asked if he wanted to play ping-pong. Josh, 18 at the time and game to do anything was like, “Yes, I love ping-pong!” So the guy handed him a brochure. Josh grew wide-eyed. He was looking at naked women and this was NOT the ping-pong he wanted to play. His cheeks grew red and he quickly carried on, shocked by what had just happened. “Ping-pong in Thailand is definitely not the same as the ping-pong that I know in Canada!” he said. We all had a good laugh and still carry that memory with us to this day.
