Where billionaires get their wealth | CNBC International
Who wants to be a billionaire?
Well lots do - so here's a guide to where they are in the world and how they got their wealth.
This map, put together by cost information website how-much-dot-net, shows the U.S.A.
as having the most billionaires in the world, no surprise there, but how they got their
wealth is a lot different from other places.
Just over 32% of America's richest made bank by founding a company - think Jobs, Gates
or Zuckerberg!
Compare that to Germany where a whopping 65% got their cash from their folks - yep, good
old fashioned death and inheritance is the way to go and that's the same in France, Spain,
Brazil, South Korea and Singapore.
But in Russia, new wealth is the name of the game.
64% of billionaires there made bank via their political connections or on the country's
vast natural resources.
And no hand outs in the UK either, the majority of its uber rich head up companies, note they
didn't found them them - just run them.
But the American dream is alive and well in China - where most of its billionaires did
start their own companies, only it isn't tech titans, but rather mammoth manufacturers
that help the rich get richer.
