David and Ram
דָּוִד הָיָה רוֹעֶה צָעִיר,
||young shepherd|young shepherd
David was a young shepherd,
לִפְנֵי שֶׁהָיָה מֶלֶךְ אַדִּיר.
Before|"there was"||mighty
Before there was a mighty king.
יוֹם אֶחָד רָעָה אֶת הַצֹּאן בַּמִּדְבָּר,
||||the sheep|"in the desert"
וּפִתְאֹם רָאָה לְפָנָיו הַר.
"and suddenly"|"saw"|before him|mountain
And suddenly he saw a mountain in front of him.
עָלָה עַל הָהָר, הִתְנַשֵּׁף, הִזִּיעַ,
"climbed the mountain"|"up the"||"panted"|sweated
Climbed the mountain, gasped, sweated,
עַד אֲשֶׁר לַפִּסְגָּה הִגִּיעַ.
|"until"|to the summit|"has reached"
By the time he reached the summit.
לְפֶתַע הִתְנַעֵר הָהָר וְהִתְרוֹמֵם,
Suddenly the mountain shook and rose,
זֶה לֹא הָיָה הַר אֶלָּא רְאֵם!
||||"but rather"|wild ox
It was not a mountain but a ram!
דָּוִד הָיָה רָכוּב עַל הַקַּרְנַיִם,
||mounted on||the horns
David was riding on the horns,
גָּבוֹהַּ כָּל כָּךְ – שֶׁהִגִּיעַ לַשָּׁמַיִם.
"So high – it reached the sky."||||to the sky
So high that it has reached heaven.
הִתְחַנֵּן דָּוִד: "אֱלֹהִים, אֲנִי כְּבָר לֹא יכוֹל,
David pleaded: "God, I can't anymore."||||||
David pleaded: "God, I can no longer,
עוֹד רֶגַע מֵרֹאשׁ הָרְאֵם אֶפּוֹל.
|||the cliff|I will fall
Another moment from the top of the darkness.
אִם תּוֹרִיד בְּשָׁלוֹם אֶת הַצֹּאן ואוֹתִי,
|"bring down"||||"and me"
If you take the sheep and me in peace,
אֶבְנֶה לְךָ בֵּית מִקְדָּשׁ עֲנָקִי.
"I will build"|||temple|gigantic
I will build you a huge temple.
וְגָדְלוֹ שֶׁל בֵּית הַמִּקְדָּשׁ בִּירוּשָׁלַיִם
Its greatness||||
And the size of the temple in Jerusalem
יִהְיֶה מֵאָה אַמּוֹת – כְּאֹרֶךְ הַקַּרְנַיִם."

There will be a hundred deaths - according to the length of the horns. "
הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא נֶעְתַּר מִיָּד,
|"blessed"||was entreated immediately|immediately
Blessed is he who is accepted immediately,
וְשָׁלַח לַמָּקוֹם אַרְיֵה מְיֻחָד.
||special lion|special lion
And sent a special lion to the place.
הִתְיָרֵא הָרְאֵם מִן הָאֲרִי וְנִלְחַץ,
"feared"|||the lion|and was pressed
Be afraid of the lion and be pressed,
וְתֵכֶף נִשְׁכַּב וּלְפָנָיו רָבַץ.
"And immediately"|lay down|"before him"|lay down
And he lay down immediately, and lay before him.
דָּוִד רָצָה לָרֶדֶת אֲבָל...
|wanted|to go down|but
David wanted to go down but ...
רָאָה אֶת הָאַרְיֵה וְנִבְהַל.
||the lion|was terrified
See the lion and be startled.
אֵיךְ יִנָּצֵל דָּוִד מִן הַלָּבִיא?
|"will David escape"|||the lion
How will David be saved from the lion?
מִיָּד זִמֲּן הקָדוֹשׁ בָּרוּך הוּא צְבִי.
|||"blessed be He"||deer
Immediately the Blessed One is a deer.
קָפַץ הָאַרְיֵה בְּעִקְבוֹת הַצְּבִי וְרָץ אַחֲרָיו,
"leaped"||"in pursuit of"|the deer|"and ran"|"after him"
The lion jumped on the deer's footsteps and ran after him,
כָּךְ יָרַד דָּוִד מֵהָרְאֵם - וְנִצְּלוּ חַיָּיו.
|||from the cliff|"and his life was saved"|his life was saved
This is how David came down from Haram - and his life was saved.
