Im Jahr neunzehnhundertundeins wurde ein Vertrag zwischen dem Hof von Mozaffar ad-Din Schah Qadschar und einer britischen Person namens William D'Arcy unterzeichnet.
In the year 1901, a treaty was signed by the court of Muzaffar al-Din, the Qajar king, and a British man named William Darcy.

Das Öl Irans wurde wichtiger, als die britische Regierung durch den Kauf von Aktien der D'Arcy Company direkter an diesem großen Projekt teilnehmen wollte.

Angesichts der ungerechten Einnahmen, die aus der Entdeckung und dem Export von Öl im Iran für Großbritannien erzielt wurden, wurde den inneren Kreisen des Landes sehr schnell klar, dass der D'Arcy-Vertrag die wirtschaftlichen Rechte des iranischen Staates nicht sichern kann.
Due to the unjust income that the British earned from the discovery and export of Iranian oil, it soon became clear to the domestic community that the Darcy contract could not secure the economic rights of the Iranian government.

Die iranische Regierung erklärte nach der Konfrontation mit den Anforderungen der Ölunternehmen aller drei Länder, dass die Gewährung irgendwelcher Zugeständnisse auf nach dem Krieg verschoben werden müsse, da die wirtschaftliche Lage der Länder zum gegenwärtigen Zeitpunkt aufgrund des Krieges unklar sei.
