原来 海克尔 为了 让 第一期 的 图片 相似 ，
It turned out that in order to make the pictures in the first issue similar, Haeckel,
他 故意 将 人类 胚胎 的 鼻子 、 心脏 等 大部份 的 内脏 ，
He deliberately removed most of the internal organs such as the nose and heart of the human embryo,
及手 、 脚 的 胚芽 都 去掉 ，
and the germs of the hands and feet are removed,
然后 ， 再 把 脊椎 加长
Then, lengthen the spine
这样 看起来 就 更 像是 其它 动物 的 尾巴 ！
This looks more like the tail of other animals!
当然 ， 海克尔 删改 的 并 不 只 这些 。
Of course, Haeckel didn't stop there.
例如 鸡 的 胚胎 ， 在 第一 时期 ，
For example, the embryo of chicken, in the first stage,
鸡 的 眼睛 与 其他 动物 不同 。 它 是 没有 色素 的 ！
Chicken eyes are different from other animals. It is unpigmented!
所以 海克尔 直接 将 它 涂黑 ，
So Haeckel just blacked it out,
以便 让 它 看起来 和 别的 动物 更 像 。
to make it look more like other animals.
另外 海克尔 有意 选择 水生 的 蝾螈
In addition, Haeckel deliberately chose aquatic salamanders
而 不用 青蛙 代表 两栖纲 ，
Instead of using frogs to represent amphibians,
是因为 蝾螈 本身 就 更 像 鱼 。
Because the salamander itself is more like a fish.
相比之下 ， 青蛙 则 不怎么 像 鱼 。
By contrast, frogs are not very fish-like.
其实 这个 大 骗局 并 不是 首次 发现 。

原来 当年 海克尔 还 在 德国 大学 任教 期间 ，

但是 ， 在 英文 和 中文 的 课本 中 ，
