Being on a Spanish TV show in Albania
Tirana, Albania is a very cool and underrated place to visit. We planned on staying 2 weeks but ended up spending 3 months there because we loved the city so much. We spent much of our time visiting cafes and drinking macchiatos because they are only $1. One rainy afternoon, I saw 2 camera guys come into the cafe that I was in and they were all speaking Spanish. My curiosity got the best of me and so I asked them what they were filming. “Oh, we're filming for the TV show ‘Españoles en el Mundo'”, they told me. “No way, I used to watch that show when I was learning Spanish!” I responded. “Would you like to be on it?” they asked me. I started to sweat but of course, I couldn't turn down an opportunity like this, so I said yes. I just had one short line, to say “Españoles en el mundo, bienvenidos a Albania”. Wow, I remember thinking, this is why language learning is so cool. If I hadn't learned Spanish, I would have never had that opportunity. I never did see the actual episode, but I think it's out there somewhere. I'm just waiting to be on more TV shows in other countries around the world. You never know!
