ep.216/日本 の コンビニ は 最強

さて 、先週 の エピソード で お 話し したんです が 、私 、新しい 仕事 を 始めました 。

今 ちょうど 、最初の 1週間 を 終えた ところ なんです が 、正直 すごく 疲れました 。

新しい 職場 で 、初めまして の 人 たち と 1週間 、月曜日 から 金曜日 まで 過ごして 、

そう 、だって 、なんてったって 私 、フル タイム で 月 金 で 朝 から 働くって 、もう 何 年 ぶり ？

ブランク が めっちゃ すごい ん です よ 。

10年 は いって ない か 、でも 8年 と か 9年 ぶり なんです よ 。

そりゃ 疲れます よ ね 。

まだ 大した こと は やって いない んです が 、これから 仕事 を 覚えて 早く 環境 に 慣れたい と 思います 。

今日 の エピソード な ん です が 、

その 新しい 仕事 の こと とか 、引っ越した この 新しい エリア の 事 とか 、アパート の 事 とか 、たくさん 話したい こと が ある んです が 、

まずは なんといっても 日本 の 話 、7月 に 日本 に 一時 帰国 した 時 の 話 を 忘れ ない うちに したい と 思います 。

久しぶり の 日本 で 、以前 と 比べて 変わって いた こと とか 、そして 大好きな 大好きな 日本 の コンビニエンスストア に ついて も お話し したい と 思います 。

★日本 、数 年 前 と 比べて 変わった こと

今回 、私 ほんと 、久しぶり の 日本 だった ん です よ 。 7年 ぶり でした 。

だから 浦島 太郎 状態 と いう か 、

家族 と か 友達 と か から も 「何 が 1番 昔 と 変わって て 驚いた ？ 」って 聞か れる こと が 多かった ん です 。

ぶっちゃけ 、そこ まで 、ショック を 受ける ほど 大きく 変わってた 、何か が 全然 違ったって 事 は なかった んです よね 。

例えば 、街 の 様子 とか は ね 、

あれ 、ここ は 前 は ラーメン 屋 が あった のに 潰れちゃった の か 、と か 、

あれ 、ここ に ドラッグストア だったっけ ？ 無くなっちゃった の ？ と か 、

そ ー ゆ ー 変化 は もちろん ありました けど 。

街 の 様子 の 変化 と いえば 、今回 私 東京 で あまり 時間 を 過ごす こと が できなくて 、

新宿 に は 行った ん です けど 、その他 は 全然 行け なかった ん です よね 。

渋谷 が 、渋谷駅 が ね 、私 が いた 頃 と すごい 変わった んでしょ 、聞く ところ に よる と 。

東京 に 住んで いる 人 も 今 の 渋谷 めっちゃ 迷う って 言います から ね 。

私 が 今 行ったら 、その 変わり 具合 に めっちゃ 驚く んだろう な 。

渋谷 行き たかった ん です けど 、時間 が なくて 行け なかった ん です よね 。

私 が 昔 東京 に 住んで た 頃 は 、渋谷 駅 を 結構 使って いた んです けど 、

東京 の 西側 に 住んで いる 人 って 、ある じゃ ないで すか 、人 に よって 一番 使う 大きな 駅 が 。

ま ぁ 人 に よって って いう か 、住んで いる ところ 、使って いる 路線 に よって ですけど ね 。

渋谷 か 、新宿 か 、池袋 か 、みたいな 。

私 は 当時 何 回 か 引っ越した んです が 、完全に ずっと 渋谷 派 だった んです よ 。

東 横 線 、あと 銀座 線 、ま 、あと は 山手 線 を 使って て 。

東 横 線 も 銀座 線 も 前 と 全然 違う ん です よね 、今 渋谷 駅 。

って いう か 、渋谷 駅 周辺 が 建物 と かも 新しい もの が どんどん 建ってます もんね 。

でも 、行き たかった な ー と は 思います けど 、でも あんなに 混んで いる 所 に 行ったら 疲れた だろう なって 容易に 想像 できます ね 。

別に 用事 も なかった し 、行か なくて 良かった か 、って いう 気持ち も あります ね 。

そう 、前 と 比べて 変わった ことって わけで は ないですけど 、やっぱり 日本 の 都心部 は 人 が 多い なって 改めて 思いました 。

別に 日本 じゃ なくて も 、大きい 都市 は そう だ と 思います けど ね 。 アメリカ だって ニューヨーク は 人 多い です もん ね 。 まあ 行った こと ない です けど 。

もう ここ 何 年 も 私 の アメリカ 生活 は 、そういう 混雑 って いう ん ですか 、人混み と は 無縁 だった ので 、

今回 日本 に 帰って 、「日本 めっちゃ 人 いる じゃん ！ 」って 思いました 。

町田 駅 周辺 に 何 回 か 行った ん です が 、めっちゃ 人 が いる ん です よ 。 みんな 何 して ん の ？ みたいな 。

それ から 私 の 実家 静岡 なん です が 、静岡 駅 周辺 で すら 、え 、こんなに 人 いる の ？ と かって 思って 。

そう 、今 、私 話して いて 思った ん です が 、

アメリカ で は 、アメリカ で はって いう か 、私 が 住んで いる 、私 の 普段 の 生活 の 中 で は 、

道 を 大量 の 人 が 歩いて いる の を 見かける こと が ない ん です よね 、完全に 車 社会 な ので 。

もちろん 、ショッピング モール とか に 行けば 歩いて いる 人 は います けど 、

それ でも モール 広い から 混雑って 言って も たかが 知れてます し 。

大量 の 人 が うじゃうじゃ いる 、うじゃうじゃ いるって 表現 合ってる か わから ないで す けど 、

めっちゃ たくさんの 人 が 歩いている 光景 を 久しぶりに 見た ので 、

あー 、日本 って 、人口 密度 高い なぁ って 、改めて 思いました ね 。

で 、先週 も ちょっと 話しました が 、

今 も 、日本 で は 今 現在 でも マスク を ほぼ 皆 んな 、ずっと つけて いる ので 、

外 でも 皆 んな つけてる ので 、ま ぁ 日本 らしい な と 思う んです けど 、

日本 の 夏 の 、あの 湿度 が 高くて めっちゃ 暑い 中 で 、めっちゃ たくさんの 人 が マスク を つけて 歩いていて 、

もう 、私 は それ だけ で 、

「 うっ。 酸素 を くださ い ！ 酸素 を 。 息苦しい です 、誰 か 私 に 酸素 を くださ い ！ 」って 感じ でした 。

もしも 、今後 日本 に 本 帰国 する こと に なって 日本 に 住む こと に なったら 、

絶対 少し 田舎 の 方 に 、人 が うじゃうじゃ いない 所 に 住みたい なって 思いました 。

前 と 比べて 変わった こと と いえば 、そんな 大きな こと で ない です けど 、

今回 、あ 、すごい なって 思った の が 、

コンビニ に 、ほとんど の コンビニ に コーヒー が ある って こと でした 。

一 番 初め コンビニ コーヒー が 登場 した 頃 って 、まだ 私 日本 に 住んで た ん です よ 。

確か 一 番 初め は セブンイレブン でした よ ね 。

その 当時 、頻繁に 使って いた セブン で その コーヒー の サービス が あった ので 、結構 頻繁に 飲んで いた 記憶 が あります 。

その後 ファミリー マート と か に も 広がり 始めて 、でも 私 の 記憶 で は 全部 の コンビニ に まで は 広がって なかった ん です よね まだ 。

セブン でも 置いて ない ところ が あったり 、店舗 に よって でした よね 。

それ が 、今 回帰ったら どこ に 行って も あって 。

東京 と かね 神奈川 と か は もちろん 、私 の 地元 である 静岡 の コンビニ も だし 、

その 静岡 に 帰る 時 に 車 で 、旦那さん の 実家 の 神奈川 から 私 の 実家 の 静岡 まで 車 で 帰る とき に 途中 で 立ち寄った 、本当に 何も ない 僻地 に ポツンと ある コンビニ に も 普通に コンビニ コーヒー ありました ね 。

旅行 で 北海道 に 行った ん です けど 、その 時 に 泊まった 旅館 の 近く の コンビニ に も やっぱり 普通に あった し 、

あと は セブン や ファミマ だけ じゃ なくて 、

もう ほんとに 、全部 の コンビニ 、ローソン だって ミニストップ だって 今 は 置いてます よね コーヒー 。

いい です よ ね 。 本当に 気軽に 美味しい コーヒー が 飲めて 。 値段 も 安い で すし 。

旦那さん と も 話してた んですけど 、この コンビニ コーヒー の 普及って 、間違いなく Starbucks の 普及を 邪魔してます よね 。

いや まあ 、日本 国内 の スターバックス の 店舗 数 って 結構 多い です けど 、アメリカ に 比べたら 少ない じゃない ですか 。

アメリカ は どこ に 行って も あります から ね 。

日本 、別の コーヒー の チェーン 店 が 頑張って いる って いう の も ある と 思います けど 、

特に 日本 だ と ドトール です よね やっぱ 。

皆さん 、ドトール だ と 何 が 好きです か ？ 私 は ミルクレープ が 好き です ❤︎

はい 、それ は どうでも よくて 、

でも ここ 数 年 の コンビニ コーヒー の 人気 と 広がり を 見ている と すごい な と 。

だって 、日本 国内 どこ に 行って も コンビニ って ある じゃないですか 、

その どこ の コンビニ に 行って も おいしい コーヒー が 買える って なったら ね 。

スタバ の 営業 に も 絶対 影響 出てます よ ね 。

スタバ のって いう か 、コーヒーチェーン 全般 に です かね 。

ま ぁね 、スタバ とか カフェ で 、ちょっと 座って ゆっくり したい 時 とか 、

人 と 会って 話す と か 、何か 作業 を したい と か 、ちょっと 時間 を 潰す のに コーヒー 飲み ながら 本 読みたい と か 、

そういう 場面 で は もちろん コーヒー ショップ と か 、カフェ の 方 が 強い んでしょう けど 、

テイクアウト の コーヒー に ついて は 、コンビニ コーヒー に お客さん を 取られてる んだろう なって 思いました よね 。

私 も めっちゃ 飲みました もん 、今回 の 一時 帰国 で 。

ちなみに 、この podcast 日本人 以外 の 方 も 結構 聴いて くださって いる ので 、

コンビニ コーヒー って 言って も 知らない 方 が いる と 思う んです よね 。

コンビニ コーヒー って 何 ？ みたいな 。

な ので 一応 説明 させて いただきます ね 。

最近 の 日本 の コンビニ に は 、コーヒー の マシーン が どこ の 店舗 に も 置いて あって 、

私 たち 、お客さん は 空 の カップ を その マシン の ところ に 持っていって 、ボタン を 押して 自分 で コーヒー を 入れる っていう 、そういう の が ある んです よ 。

「いや そんな の 、アメリカ の ガソリン スタンド でも 同じ ように コーヒー 買える よ 」って 思って いる そこ の アメリカ の 皆さん 、

全然 違う んだから 。

日本 の コンビニ コーヒー は ね 、美味しい の 。

あ の めっちゃ まずい 、アメリカ の ガソリン スタンド で 売って いる コーヒー と 一緒に しないで ください 。

各 コンビニ 、こだわって いる らしく 、

本格 的 というか 、本当に 美味しい コーヒー が 買える んです よ 。 カフェラテ と かも 買えます 。

ホットコーヒー は 普通に 空 の カップ を 機械 の ところ に 持っていって 、コーヒー を 入れる んです けど 、

アイス コーヒー は 、氷 の 入った カップ が 店内 に ある 冷凍庫 みたいな ところ に 用意 して ある ので 、

それ を 持っていって コーヒー を 入れます 。

日本 に 行く 機械 が あれば 、ぜひ 、コンビニ コーヒー 飲んで みて ください 。

この コンビニ コーヒー の 普及 が 、何なら 今回 一 番 、「わ 、今って こんな こと に なってる の ？ 」って 思った かも 。

どう 、意外 です か ？

はい 、やっぱり コンビニ が ね 、その コーヒー だけ で は なくて 、や ばい よね 日本 。

日本 の コンビニ って 、もう 言葉 で 表せ ない 位 すごい 。

コンビニ が この 一 時 帰国 を する 上 で 最大 の 楽しみ の 一 つ と 言って 過言 で は ない くらい 、やっぱ 久しぶり に 行く と 衝撃的 です よね 。

日本 の 皆さん は ね 、あれ に 慣れちゃって 、もう コンビニ が あって 当然 って 生活 を してる と 思う んです けど 、

本当 、日本 の 皆さん 、どれ だけ 自分たち が 恵まれて いる の かって いう の を ね 、知った 方 が いい です よ 。

ぜひ アメリカ の コンビニ を 見て みて 欲しい 。

アメリカ だって セブンイレブン あります よ 、あります けど 、全然 違う んだから 。

改めて 今回 思った の は 、日本 の コンビニ 、本当に なんでも 売ってる し 、

売って いる もの が 美味しい し 、もう 、なんだろう ね 、天国 だ よ ね 。

ちょっと 信じられ ない くらい 、信じられ ない くらい 天国 。

まず 食事 系 で いう と 、バリエーション が 豊富 な の が すごい なって 思います よ ね 。

これ は 日本 人 の 食 生活 が 影響 して いる と 思う ん です けど 、

和食 、和食 って いう か 日本 食 。 日本 の 食べ物 。 おむすび と か お弁当 と か 、うどん ・そば は もちろん だし 、

洋風 な の 、ま ぁ 、日本 の 家庭 料理 、洋食 です けど 、

パスタ と か ドリア と か 、シチュー と か 、そういう の も 豊富 です し 、

サンドイッチ を はじめ 、パン の 種類 も すごい し 。

コンビニ の パン って めっちゃ 種類 多い し 美味しい です よね 、何 あれ 。

とりあえず 、パン 部門 だけ でも アメリカ に 入って きて くれ ない か なって 感じ です ね 。

で 、やっぱり 日本人 って 新しい 食べ物 と か 、流行 と か 好きじゃない ですか 、

それ が アメリカ の 食 文化 と 大きく 違う 所 だ なって 思う ん です けど 、

だから コンビニ も 、次 から 次 へ と 新 商品 、新しい もの を 販売 してます よね 。

例えば 韓国 料理 が 流行ってる から 、もう 色んな 韓国 料理 が 売ってる し 、エスニック 系 の タイ 料理 とか なんちゃら 料理 とか 、そういう の も どんどん 発売 さ れる し 、

そういう 、決まりきった 定番 の 商品 は もちろん だけど 、色々な 種類 の 新しい もの も たくさん 売ってる って いう のが 特徴 です ね 。

本当に コンビニ だけ 見て いて も 、日本 の 食 文化 って 豊か だ なって 思います 。

コンビニ に 反映 されて います よね 。

それぞれ の 家庭 や 、各 個人 の 好み に よって も 違う と 思います けど 、ほんと 、日本人 は 色々な もの を 食べます から ね 。

ま 、おじいちゃん とか おばあちゃん とか は 基本 和食 しか 食べ ない ！ みたいな 人 たち も いる かも しれません が 、

ある 程度 若い 世代 だ と 日々 の 食事 って 、家 で 食べる ご飯 も バリエーション 豊か じゃ ない ですか 、私たち 。

私 も 、例えば 和食 、ま ぁ 和食って いう か 日本食 を 月曜日 に 作った と したら 、次の 日 は 中華 、チャイニーズ系 の 料理 に しよう か な 、そしたら 水曜日 は 洋食 の パスタ とか に して 、木曜日 は また 何か 日本食 の 定番 の 何か を 作って 、

で 、金曜日 、週末 は ちょっと エスニック な タイ カレー とか 作っちゃう ？ みたいな 。

で 、土曜日 は ピザ を 買って こよう か 、みたいな 。

色んな 料理 を すごく 食べる じゃない ですか 。

もちろん 、アメリカ を はじめ 、世界 の 国 の 人たち も 色々な 料理 を 食べる 人たち も いる と 思います けど 、

私 の 一般的な アメリカ人 の イメージ は 、一般的な 日本人 より も 、その 日々 の 食生活 、

日常 的に 食べる 料理 の 種類 が 少ない って 、うん 、そい う いう イメージ です 。

わから ない けど 。

ま 、とにかく 、なんで したっけ 、

そう 、そういう 食 生活 が 、食 文化 が コンビニ の 商品 に も 反映 されてる んだろう なって 、

うん 、なんだか 改めて 思った ん です よ ね 。

あと は スイーツ ね 、スイーツ よ 。

なんで コンビニ の スイーツ は あんなに 美味しい ん です か ね 。

最高 だった ん です けど 。

シュー クリーム も 食べた し 、プリン も 食べた し 、なんか 良く わから ない 、生 チョコ が 入った クレープ みたいな の も 食べた し 、

とにかく 美味しかった です 。

それ から 、 お 菓子 も 、 やっぱり コンビ の お 菓子って 、

コンビニ ごと の プライベートブランド の 商品 が いい です よね 。

なんで しょうね 、アメリカ の スーパー 、グローサリーストア とか に も プライベートブランド って あって 、

スナック 系 の お 菓子 も 、 大手 の 有名 ブランド と 同じ ような 商品 、 例えば ポテトチップス と かね 、

プライベートブランド も の もの が たくさん あります けど 、実際 に 普段 買ったり も します けど 、

日本 の コンビニ の プライベートブランド の お菓子 の 方が ワクワク する よ ね 。

あー 、でも 、たぶん これ は 、

日本 の お 菓子 、お煎餅 とか 、おかき とか 、それ 系 が 私 を ワクワク させた の かも 。

でも 、ちょっと 小さめ の サイズ で 、100円 とか で ちょこっと 食べられる って いう の が いい よ ね 。

あ 、そう か 、そう なって くる と あれ です ね 、

アメリカ の お菓子 は やっぱり 大きすぎる 問題 。 大 容量 すぎる 問題 な んだ 。

それ だ 。

コンビニ に 行って 、100円 と か の お菓子 を 色々 買って

わ ー い 、 楽しい 。 って いう の が 、

やっぱり 日本 、お 菓子 も いい よ ね 、って 思わ せた んだ と 、わかん ない 、思います 。

飲み物 も 、やっぱり 日本 の コンビニ は 種類 が 豊富です よ ね 。

アメリカ の コンビニ や コーナー ストア とか は 置いて ある ドリンク の 種類 が もう 限ら れちゃって て 、

これ も ね 、普段 飲む ドリンク の バリエーション が アメリカ と 日本 を 比べる と 日本 の 方 が 多い んですかね 。

でも アジア の 人 だったら 日本 に 限らず 同じ だ と 思う ん です けど 、やっぱり お茶 文化 だから 、

まず お茶 の 種類 が 多い じゃない ですか 。

日本 だ と 緑茶 だけ でも たくさんの ブランド や 種類 が ある し 、

烏 龍 茶 、ほうじ 茶 、ジャスミン 茶 と かね 、「お茶 」カテゴリ で めっちゃ 種類 あります もん ね 。

レモンティ 、ストレートティ 、ミルクティ 、で 、それ ら も 更に メーカー が 複数 ある し 。

コンビニ に よって は プライベートブランド で そういう お茶 や ティ 系 を たくさん 出して います よね 。

アメリカ の 皆さん 、わかります よ 、

「アメリカ だって tea ある よ 。 グリンティー だって ある よ 。 そう 、 Arizona tea 。」 みたいな 。

緑茶 に お 砂糖 は 要ら ない ん です よ 。

アメリカ 以外 に 住んで いる 皆さん 、

アメリカ に は Arizona tea って いう ブランド 、ブランド じゃ ない か 、

Arizonateaって シリーズ の コンビニ とか で 売って いる お茶 が ある んです けど 、

もう 、とにかく 甘い の よ 。

まあ ね 、 ぶっちゃ け 、 たまに 飲み たく なります よ 、 ちょっと Arizona tea 買っちゃ おうか な と かって 時 あります よ 、

緑茶 、グリーンティー だけ じゃなくて 、レモンティ とか 、結構 種類 ある んです よね 。

でも 、お 砂糖 が 入って ない お茶 を 飲みたい 時 の 方 が 多い んです よ 。

甘く ない 飲み物 が こっち の コンビニ で は 種類 が 限られて いて 、

そう 考える と 、日本 の コンビニ の 飲み物 の 種類 は やっぱり 豊富です よ ね 。

だって アメリカ に ある ソーダ 系 、コーラ とか スプライト とか 、そういう 系 も 日本 に だって 一通り あります から ね 。

はい 、食べ物 飲み物 、やっぱり 日本 の コンビニ すごい です 。

ああ 、そう 、話し 忘れました けど 、

食べ物 、おむすび や お弁当 、パン とか 、すぐに 食べられる もの だけ じゃなくて 、

家 に 帰って 、自分 の 家 に ある お皿 に 出して 食べる 系 とか 、

なんて 言う ん です か ね 、家 で 料理 を する けど 、ちょっと もう 一品 副菜 に 、みたいな 商品 も たくさん あります よ ね 。

なんて 言う んだっけ 、言葉 が 出て こない 。

湯 煎 と か で 温めたり 、お 皿 に 出して レンジ で チン する やつ 。

レトルトパック 、そう 、レトルト の 商品 、レトルト系 も 充実 してます よね 、本当に 。

昔 から 、私 も セブンイレブン の レトルトカレー を よく 食べて たり 、

ハンバーグ が 美味しい と かって 人気 に なって 話題 に なったり とかもしてました けど 、

今 は もっと 種類 が 色々 あります よ ね 。

なんか もう 、コンビニ の 進化 が 止まら ない なって 思います 。

食べ物 飲み物 以外 で は 、何 か な 、

ま ぁ なんでも ね 、日常 生活 で 必要な も は 揃ってます けど 、

でも それ は ね 、どこ の 国 の コンビニ も 同じ です か ね 。

あ 、逆に 、数 年 前 と 比べて 明らかに 商品 の 数 が 減った なって 思った もの も ありました 。

今 って コンビニ に 全然 雑誌 置いて ない ん です ね 。

あれ は 、なん です か 、雑誌 の 売り上げ 下がって きてる から ？

昔 は さ 、コンビニ 行ったら とりあえず 雑誌 コーナー に 行って 何か 立ち読み する って いう 感じ でした けど ね 。

今 は ちょこっと だけ 、小さい 雑誌 コーナー が あって 、

で 、ほとんど の 雑誌 に は ビニール が かけられて いて 、開く こと が できない ように なってる んです よね 。

ちょっと 、 雑誌 が ない の は 寂 いな ーって 思いました 。

そして 日本 の コンビニ に ある 優秀な もの と いえば 、コピー 機 です ね 。

これ は 前 から です けど 、なんか 更に パワー アップ してません か ？

役所 関係 の 書類 が コンビニ の コピー 機 で 出せたり とか 今 します よ ね 。

できる こと が どんどん 増えて いってる な ーって 感じ です ね 。

日本 で は 家 に プリンタ を 持って なくて も 、パソコン から あらかじめ クラウド に アップ して おいたり 、 USB に 入れて おいたり して 持っていけば 、

どこ の コンビニ でも 印刷 できる ので 全く 問題 ない ん です よね 。

コンビニ って 店舗 数 が 半端 なく 多い です から ね 、

家 の 近く の コンビニ で すぐ 印刷 できる って 、便利 度 が 桁違い な ん です よね 。

総合 的に 日本 の コンビニ 最高 って 思う し 、

なんで アメリカ の コンビニ は 日本 と 同じに ならない んだろう って 日々 思って います けど 、

ま ぁ 食べ物 とか は ね 、日本 と 同じ 商品 数 、クオリティ まで 持っていく の は 難しい と しても 、

この コピー 機 の サービス は 、アメリカ に も できて 欲しい なって 思います 。

だって セブンイレブン は アメリカ に だって 、日本 の 数 より も 少ない です けど あります から ね 。

あと は コンビニ コーヒー ね 。

これ も ね 、セブンイレブン japan と セブンイレブン usa は 別に 関連 して ない の かも しれません けど 、

して ない か 、セブンイレブン 、日本 は 7&i ホールディングス です もん ね 、

でも 同じ セブン って こと で 、ここ は いっちょ 提携 して もらって 、日本 の セブン の コーヒー マシーン を アメリカ に も 持ってきて ね 、設置 して もらいたい な と 思います ね 。

美味しい コーヒー 売り出したら いい のに ね 。
