沖縄 県 石垣 島 の 北側 に ある 海 で 、さんご が 白く なって いる こと が わかりました。 とても 暑くて 、海 の 水 が 温かく なって いる こと が 原因 だ と 考えられて います。

石垣 島 で ツアー を 行う 団体 に よる と 、7月 の 終わり ごろ から 白く なった さんご が 見つかって います。 団体 が 調べた 所 で は 、さんご の 80％ぐらい が 白く なって いて 、この 中 の 10％ぐらい が 死んで いました。

さんご は 体 の 細胞 に 住む 植物 プランクトン から 栄養 を もらって います。 しかし 海 の 水 が 温かい と 、植物 プランクトン が い なく なって 、白く なります。 気象 台 に よる と 、石垣 島 や 周り の 海 の 水 の 温度 は 、7月 が 平均 で 30℃で 、いつも の 年 より 0.6℃高く なって います。

国 は 9月 、石垣 島 の 周り の 海 で 、どの くらい さんご が 白く なって いる か 調べる 予定 です。
