ep.207/アメリカ の シャワー が 残念

ちょっと 聞いて ください よ 、みなさん 。

この 前 ね 、この 前 って 、ほんの 3日 4日 前 の 話 なんです けど 、

車 ぶつけられた の ー 。 しかも 誰 か わから ない んです 。

バイト 先 の ジャパニーズレストラン の 駐車場 で の 話 なんですけど 、

仕事 終わって 帰ろう と したら 、車 の 後ろ の 左側 の バンパー の 角 が ボコって 凹んで た んです よ 。

仕事 終わって キッチン スタッフ みんな で お店 から 出て きて 、

「アディオース 、 Hasta mañana ,see you tomorrow 」って 言い ながら 車 の 方 に 向かって 行った んです けど

バンパー の 凹み に 気づいて 、

「 ぎ ゃ ーーーーー 、 見て 、 見て ーー 。 車 が ーーーーー 」って 、みんな に 。

あ 、ほら 、私 の 同僚 みんな メキシカン なんで 、

mira , mira , mi carro !!!って 、 みんな を 呼んで 大騒ぎ しました 。

明らかに 凹んで て 、

絶対 ぶつけた 人 は ぶつかった こと に 気づいてた と 思う んです よね 。

その くらい 凹んでます 。

たぶん バック で 駐車 スペース から 出よう と して

後ろ に 下がり 過ぎて 私 の 車 に ぶつかった んだろう なって 、まぁ 想像 は できました けど 、

ちょっと 当たっちゃ いました と か で は なく 、ベコーーーーーーーーーーって してた から 、

そのまま 何も メモ 書き も 残さ ず に 去って いって しまった の は 、いただけ ない です よねぇ 。

で 問題 は ね 、

えー ーーー 、どう する の ？ 誰 な の ーって 話 な ん です が 、

出入り の 激しい 駐車場 な ので 、頼みの綱 は 、監視カメラ とか なん です けど 、

バイト 先 の ジャパニーズレストラン の オーナー に 聞いたら 、

うち の レストラン は いくつか 他の レストラン と か 、ビジネス と か が 入っている 平屋 の 大きな 建物 、長い 建物 の 中 の 一画 なんです が 、

その 建物 、うち の レストラン が ある 建物 側 に は カメラ 類 の そういった もの は 無い らしくて 全然 だめで 、

あと は 駐車場 の 角 に 小さな 教会 が あって 、その 建物 に カメラ が ある か 、

ま ぁね 、それ は ちょっと 望み 薄い です けど 、

あと は 、駐車場 の 向かい が バス ターミナル で 、

そんなに 大きな ターミナル で は ない んです けど 、バス ターミナル と か だと 監視 カメラ が ついている 可能性 が 結構 ある と 思う ので 、

ちょっと そっち の 可能性 に かけて 、

ぶつけた 車 が 見つかる と いい んです けど ねぇ 。

一応 、我が家 が 入っている 車 の 保険 も ある んです けど 、

Deductible が ＄500 で 、＄500 以降 の 保証 な ので

たぶん 結構 凹み です けど 、修理 に ＄500まではかからないんじゃないかなってうちの旦那さんが言ってて、

だから ぶつけた 人 が 見つからない 限り 、実費 で 修理 に なりそうです 。

ね ーーーーーー 、 ちょっと アンラッキー です よ ね 。

ちょっと ちょっと ー 。

はい 、そんな こと が あった 1週間 でした が 、

あと は カレッジ の 今 学期 最後 の テスト や 課題 も 無事 終わり 、私 は 夏 休み に 入りました ！

また あと 1週間 くらい すれば 最終 の 成績 が 出る と 思います ので 、

それ と 共に 来週 の エピソード か な 、で 今学期 の 振り返り や 夏休み に ついて お話し したい と 思います 。

さて 、今回 の 今日 の エピソード で は 、アメリカ の シャワー に ついて お 話し したい と 思います 。

その他 、今週 の my favorite も 予定 して います 。

★アメリカ の シャワー が 残念

この コーナー で は 、 アメリカ に 住んで いる 皆さん が 、

あー 、 そうそう 、 わかる ー 、 うん 、 それ よく ある わ ーっと 共感 する であろう 、

アメリカ 生活 に ついて の ある ある 話 を シェア して います 。

それでは 早速 参りましょう 、今回 の アメリカ ある ある は こちら

「アメリカ の アパート の シャワー が 残念 すぎる 」

日本 人 が アメリカ に 引っ越して きて 、

あー 日本 が 恋しい なぁ って 思う 事 の ひとつ として 、お風呂 が ある と 思います 。

バスタブ に お湯 を 張って ゆっくり 浸かる って いう お風呂 時間 が

なかなか アメリカ で は 取る こと が できない ので 、

あの 熱い お 風呂 に つかって ね 、

あー ーー 、 今日 も 疲れた なぁ 、 て 感じたい なぁ 、 ゆっくり したい なぁって いう 、 そういう 在 米 組 の みなさん 、 多い と 思います 。

でも 、今日 は その バスタブ に お湯 を 張る 話 で は なくて 、

シャワー の 話 です 。

え ?アメリカ は お 風呂 に つかる 文化 で は なくて 、シャワー のみ 浴びる って いう スタイル が 一般的な のに 、

その シャワー が 残念 って どういう こと ?

って 皆さん 思わ れる かも しれません けど 、

ほんとに ね 、アメリカ の シャワー 、残念な んです 。

私 は 今 まで アメリカ で 2回 引っ越し を して いて 、今の アパート を 含めて 合計 3カ所 に 住んで きた んです が 、

どの 家 の シャワー も 、

まず お 湯 の 温度 が 低い んです よ 。

ぬるい 。

冬 と か 、後 は 特に 疲れた 日 とか は 温度 が 高めの 熱い シャワー を 浴び 体 の 疲れ を 癒したい です よね 。

でも マックス に 熱く して も ぬるい んです よ 。

お湯 の 温度 設定 って 、ま ぁ これ アメリカ だけ じゃない と 思う んです けど 2パターン ある じゃないですか 。

レバー が ひと つ タイプ と 、レバー が ふた つ タイプ 。

レバー が ひとつ で 最初 お 水 が 出て 、どんどん 回して いく と お湯 に なる か 、

もしくは レバー の スタート 、 ニュートラル の 状態 が 真ん中 に あって 、 それ が ストップ の 状態 で 、

右 に 回す と 水 、左 に 回す と お湯 みたいな ね タイプ 。

もしくは レバー が 2つ あって 、お湯 の 調整 レバー と 、お水 の 調整 レバー が 分かれてて 、

それぞれ の 水量 を 調節 して 混ぜ合わせた 温度 を 自分 で 調整 する タイプ 。

我が家 の シャワー は 前者 、レバー 1つ タイプ な んです が 、

この レバー 1つ タイプって 高い 確率 で お湯 の 温度 が 満足 いく 熱さ で は ないです よね 。

後者 、レバー が 2つ ある 場合 は 、

比較的 自分 の 好きな 温度 に できる こと も 多い と 思います 。

とりあえず お 湯 を ある程度 出して おいて 、お 水 で 薄める 、

もしくは 逆 も 然り 。

納得 の いく お湯 の 温度 に 設定 し やすい んです けど 、

なぜ かね 、レバー が 2つ タイプって 少ない んです よ 、存在 する に は します けど 、

あまり 見かけ ない 気 が します 。

わからない 、私 の 経験 上 の 話 です 。

どう な んです か ね 。

やっぱり あれ です か ね 、

裁判 王国 の アメリカ だ と 、「お湯 が 熱すぎて 火傷 した じゃないか ！ 」と か 言って 訴えられる と 困る から ぬるく して る んです か ね 。

私 は 戸 建て の 一軒家 に 住んだ こと が ない ので 、 アメリカ で 、

アパート で は なくて 、一軒家 は どう な の か とかって わから ないで すし 、

アパート って 一言 で 言って も 色々 ある と 思う ので 、

私 の 認識 通り だけ で は ない と 思います ので 、

今回 の この 私 の ある ある は 、私 が これ まで 住んで きた アパート 、ボロアパート で の 話 な ので

アメリカ に 住んで いる 全て の 皆さん が ある ある ある ある って なる か どう か わから ないで す 。

しかも 最近 の シャワー だ と 、たぶん そんな レバー で 温度 調整 とか で は なくて 、

ピピピ 、何度 ！ みたいな 感じ で ピッ て 出せば めっちゃ 好きな 温度 が 出る と 思う んです けど 、

私 みたいな 、古い アパート に 移り 住んで いる 、比較的 節約 家庭 だ と こう なる んです よね 。

でも 、これ まで も たまに ね 、お友達 の 家 や 知り合い の おうち に 泊まり に 行って 、そこ で シャワー を 借りて 使ったり とかもした こと あります けど 、

往々 に して 、私 の 求めている お湯 の 温度 は 出ないで す 。

あと は ホテル に 泊まった 時 とか 、ホテル の シャワー を 使う 時 、お湯 の 温度 ぬるい って 皆さん 感じません か ?

なんで な の 。

欧米人 は ぬるい シャワー が 好き な んです か ね 。

それ から 、水圧 、水 の 量 です よね 。 弱い 。

でも これ は 、カリフォルニア だけ かも しれ ない で す 。

知ら ない けど 。

私 の 聞いた 話 で は 、カリフォルニア って 、深刻な 水 不足 が 問題 と なって いて 、

各 家庭 の シャワー に は 、水 が たくさん 出 ない ような 部品 が 、シャワー ヘッド の ところ に 付けられて いる んですって 。

この 話 は アパート の 各 家庭 の シャワー の 事 な ので 、

一戸建て の 家 が そういう の を を つけ なきゃ ならない の か と か は 全然 知らない ので

どなた か 詳しい 方 を 教えて ください 。

ともかく 、そういう こと で 、

お 湯 の 温度 も ぬるい 、水圧 も 弱い って いう 、ダブル パンチ な んです よ 。

そんな シャワー 嫌だ ーーーーって 感じ です よ ね 。

そんな 、アメリカ の シャワー 状況 な んです が 、

我が家 の シャワー も 元々 は ほんとに も ダメダメ で 、

前 に 話した 事 ある かも しれない んです けど 、

まず シャワー ヘッド が 本当に 使え なくて 、ホース が ついていない タイプ だった んです よ 。

わかります か ？ よく ホテル と か に ある 、壁 から シャワー ヘッド が 出てる スタイル 。

これ だ と 手 に 持って シャワー を 浴びる って こと が できない んです よね 。

壁 から ジャーって お湯 が 出てる ので 、

自分 から お湯 を 受け に いかない と お湯 が 当たらない んです よ 。

ま 、当たり前 です けど 。

しかも 、さっき 言った ような 水圧 が 弱い 場合 が 多い ので 、

壁 から めっちゃ 強い ね 、お湯 が 出てて くれる なら まだしも 、

水圧 弱い と 、チョロチョロチョロ 、いや 、チョロチョロチョロ 言い過ぎ か 、

でも 、水圧 が 弱い シャワー に 、水 に 、そこ に 自分 から 当たり に 行く って いう 、なんだろう …、悲しい 、みたいな 。

やっぱね あの 壁 に 付いて いる シャワー は 、映画 や ドラマ の 中 で ね 、

失恋 した 女の子 が ね 、泣き ながら シャワー を 浴びる シーン と か 、

もしくは 殺人 鬼 、サイコパス の 殺人 鬼 が 血 が 手 と か 体 に ついた 状態 で 不気味な 笑い を 浮かべ ながら

その 血 を 洗い流す みたいな 、

そういう ため に ある んです よ 。

だから 一般 市民 は 、そんな オシャレ な シャワー で は なくて 、

間違い なく ホース が ついて て 手 に 持てる タイプ の シャワー が 、それ が 断然 いい と 思います 。

なんか 話 が ズレ ちゃった 、

うち の アパート の シャワー も 、オリジナル は その 壁 に 付いている タイプ だった んです けど 、

私 たち 夫婦 どちら も その 壁 に くっついて る タイプ が 嫌い な ので 、

自分 たち で ホーム センター に 行って ホース 付 の シャワー ヘッド 買って きて 、それ に 切り替えて 使ってます 。

その シャワー ヘッド を ホース つき に 変えた こと に よって

使い やすさ は 格段に 上がった んです が 、

これ も アメリカ の 問題 って いう か 、うち の ボロアパート の 問題 な んです けど 、

なんか 水道 管 とか 、あと は その お湯 を 沸かす 部分 、その辺り の 設備 が もう 古くて 、

すぐ トラブル んです よ 。

で 、「ちょっと 問題 が 発生 した ので 、今日 お湯 半日 でません 」と か 、

「ちょっと メンテナンス が 入る ので 、お 水 が この後 3時間 ぐらい 止まります 」と か 、

頻繁に 何かしら トラブ ります 。

少し 前 も 、なんだったっけ かな 、メンテナンス が 立て続けに 何回か 入ってた んです よね 。

ガス 漏れ を 検知 した とか だった か な 、

って か ガス 漏れ って 笑え ないで す けど ね 、

とにかく 、大きめ な メンテナンス が 入ってて 、

そう そう 、言い 忘れて た 、

アメリカ の 家 って 、

ま ぁ 今 の 最新 の 家 は 違う の かも しれない です けど 、

昔ながら の 家 と か 昔ながら の アパート って 、

シャワー の お湯 は その 使う 時 に 沸いて 出て くる ので は なくて 、

熱い お 湯 を 貯めとく 大きな タンク みたいの が あって 、その お湯 が シャワー を 使う とき に 出てくる んです よ 。

で 、その タンク の お湯 が 減って きたら 、また 自動的に そこに お湯 が 溜まって …みたいな 仕組み だ と 思う んです けど 。

そう 、そういう 仕組み で 、だから 家族 みんな が 一度に 続けて シャワー を 浴びる と 、ちょっと 緩く なったり する んです よね 。

その 溜まって る お湯 が 追いつか なくて 。

これ も タンク の 大きさ と か 、性能 と か も ある の か な 、よく わから ない で す けど 。

で ね 、最近 の 家 は タンクレス で そい う ストレス が 無い 家 と かも あります が 、

で ね 、最近 の 家 は タンクレス で そい う ストレス が 無い 家 と かも あります が 、

でも 、一般 の 家 は まだまだ この 仕組み だ と 思います 。

だから 、ガラージ 、車庫 の 所 に は シャワー の タンク が ある こと が 多い です 。

以前 住んで た アパート も 、キッチン の ところ に その 大き なお 湯 の タンク が あった し 、

その 前 に 住んで た アパート も 、ガレージ に タンク が ありました 。

で 、今 の アパート って 各 家 に は その タンク が なくて 、

アパート の コンプレックス 全体 で 大きな タンク を シェア して いる んです よね 。

ちょっと 詳細 は わから ない んです けど 、

すごく 大きな タンク が 一 個 ある の か 、それとも 3つ ぐらい ポンポンポン って ある の か な 、

とにかく 1つ の 家 だけ で は なくて 、複数 の 家 で お湯 の タンク を シェア して います 。

この 問題 点 は 、タンク と か パイプ と か に 何か トラブル が ある と 、

アパート 全体 の 家 に 影響 が 出て 、

メンテナンス で お 水 が 止まる と か 、お湯 が 止まる と か 、

本当に うち の アパート 古くて ボロアパート な ので 、そういう トラブル が 多くて 困っちゃう なぁ って 感じ なんです よ 。

この 前 も なんか メンテナンス します ー 、 半日 お 湯 止まります ー と かって 連絡 が 来て 、

業者 が 来て なんか 色々 やって た んです けど 、

作業 は 無事 終わった みたいで お湯 も 戻りました が 、

それ 以降 、元々 そんなに 熱い お湯 が 出 ない のに 、更に お湯 の 温度 が 緩く なった 気 が して 。

好み の 暑さ じゃない とか 、ぬるく なった とか で は なくて 、

たまに 「これ お 水 です か 」みたいな 温度 の 時 が あって 。

すごく 暑い 夏 と か なら まだ 気持ち いい わ ーって 、それ は それ で アリ かも しれない で すけど 、

まだ 肌寒い 時期 で 、ちょっと 温まりたい なぁ と 思ってた のに シャワー を 浴びたら ほぼ 水 、みたいな 。

切な くない です か ？

特に ねこ の ご 時世 、体調 崩した くない じゃ ない ですか 。

冬 だ と ね 、インフル の シーズン で も あったり も する し 、

こんな 寒い 時 に 冷たい シャワー を 毎日 浴びて たら 自分 から 風邪 ひいて 体調 崩す ような ね 、行動 している ような もん じゃないか ！

って 感じ です よ ね 。

最初 は シャワー を 浴びる 時間 帯 の タイミング の 問題 と か で 、

あれ 、なんか 今日 の お湯 の 温度 低い なぁ 、みたいな 、寒い なぁ 、みたいな 感じ で 思ってた んですけど 、

何 日 たって も 同じ 位 低い ので 、

あ 、これ は 絶対 、その 数 日 前 の メンテナンス の 影響 で 、全体 の 水温 が 下がってる な ！ って 思って です ね 、

とりあえず アパート の 管理 会社 に 連絡 を しました 。

管理 会社 に 連絡 を したら 、すぐに 水道 屋 さん が くれた んです けど 、

その 水道 屋 さん が すぐに 問題 を 解決 して くれた んです 。

何 を して もらった かって いう と 、

「これ これ こう いう わけで 、なんか メンテナンス が 入って から シャワー の 温度 が 低く なった 気 が する 」って 説明 した んです が 、

そし たら 我が家 の バスルーム まで 来て 作業 して くれた んです が 、

私 も 全然 これ まで 知ら なかった んです けど 、

シャワー の レバー 部分 を 取る と 、その 中 に

「温度 が これ 以上 高く なら ない ように 止めちゃう よ 」

みたいな 調整 を する 部品 が 組み込まれて いた んです よね 。

その 部品 、「これ 以上 温度 を 高く しません よ 」の レベル を 変える 、一 段階 高く 、

その 部品 の 調節 部分 を 引き上げて くれました 。

それ だけ な んです よ 。

その 、一 レベル 、クイっと レバー の 奥 に ある 部品 を 調整 した だけ で 、

めっちゃ 温かい 、熱い お 湯 が 出る ように なりました 。

ぶっちゃけ 根本的な 解決 じゃない ところ が アメリカ だなって 感じ なんですけど 、

あの ー 、 メンテナンス 前 は 、 そんな レバー の 奥 に 仕込んで ある 部品 の 存在 なんて 知ら ず に 普通に お 湯 が 出て た のに 、

メンテナンス を した 途端 に お湯 の 温度 が 下がった って こと は 、

それぞれ の 家 の 部品 が どうのこうの じゃ なくて 、大元 の 何か タンク 周辺 の 問題 だ と 思う んです けど 、

ま ぁ 我が家 として は 結果 オーライ って こと で 、

我が家 の お湯 の 温度 問題 は 解決 しました が 、隣 近所 の 周り の お家 は どう な の か な ーって ちょっと 気に なります が 。

こういう ところ も 、言った もん 勝ち の アメリカ です よね 。

効率 的 って いう か 、目の前 の 問題 を とりあえず 解決 って いう 。

はい 、と いう こと で 、

その 水道 屋 さん が 部品 の 位置 を 調整 して くれた こと で 、

最近 私 は すごく 快適な 、ハッピーな 、シャワー 時間 を 過ごして います 。

アメリカ に 来て こんな 熱い 温度 の シャワー 浴びた こと ない って くらい 、

ちょっと 熱 すぎる か な 、くらい の 、

シャワー を 浴びて 、外 に 出る 時 に 「あー 暑い 、暑い 」と かって いう 幸せ 。

ここ 何 年 も 味わった こと なかった ので 。

日本 で いう お 風呂 から 上がった 時 の 、ちょっと のぼせた 、みたいな 、あの 感じ 。

あれ を 毎回 感じられて います 。

いや ー 幸せ 。

最近 は 特に 、ジャパニーズレストラン の バイト から 帰って きて 、

すぐ シャワー を 毎回 浴びる んです けど 、

立ち 仕事 で すごく 疲れた ーって いう 状態 から 熱い シャワー を 浴びて 、

本当に マジ で 人生 の 幸せ を 感じて います 。

さっき も 言いました けど 、本当に 言った もん 勝ち だ な 、この 国 って 。 って 改めて 思いました 。

みなさん に とって は 小さな こと かも しれません が 、

私 たち 夫婦 から したら シャワー の 温度 って 毎日 の こと な ので とて も 重要 で 、

これ あれ なんか おかしい なぁ 、ちょっと 温度 が 下がった 気 が する けど 、

これ も アメリカ の シャワー って もともと ぬるい し 、こんな もの か なぁ …。

と かって 諦めて たら 、こんな 日々 の 幸せ を 感じる こと なかった です し 、

やっぱり ね 声 を 上げる って 大事 だ な って 思いました 。

声 を 上げる って 大袈裟 です けど 、

たぶん 日本 人 の 考え方 的に 、

こんな もの な の か な 、仕方ない の か な 、って 思って

ま ぁ 、しょうがない か 、いい か 。 って 諦めちゃ う ことって 多い と 思い うんですけど 、

一言 、今回 の ケース であれば アパート 管理 会社 と か 、

他の ケース でも 、トラブル や 不満に 思って いる 現状 を 報告 できる 場所 が あれば しておく ことに 無駄 は ない んじゃないか な と 思います 。

アメリカ で シャワー に ついて 不満 を 持って いる 人 、いるか いない か 分かりません けど 、

我が家 みたいな アパート 暮らし を して いて 、

温度 低い なぁ 、これ じゃ 風邪 ひいちゃう よ 、って 思われている みなさん 、

それ を 受け入れ ず 、一 度 管理 会社 に 、温度 上げて くれ ぃ ！ と リクエスト して みましょう 。

もしかすると 設定 1つ で 、ハッピーな シャワー ライフ が 送れる かも しれません 。

私 が 最近 ハマって いる もの や 、気に なって いる こと 、お気に入り の 商品 など に ついて お話している コーナー です 。

今回 お 話し する 、最近 私 が ハマって いる もの は 、

チョコ 苺 、 苺 チョコ ？ です 。

ちょっと 名前 が 、何 が 正しい の か わから ない んです が 、

いちご チョコ ？ チョコ いちご ？

chocolate covered strawberries です ね 。

いちご に 溶かした チョコレート を コーティング する 、あれ です 。

伝わってます か ね 、

チョコフォンデュ に 苺 つけた みたいな 。

あれ です よ 。

そもそも 、日本 に 比べて アメリカって 苺 チョコって 見る 機会 が 多い 気 が する んです けど 、どう な んですかね 。

私 が 日本 で 見て なかった だけ か な 。

日本 だ と 、オシャレ な デザート 屋さん と か 、チョコレート 屋さん と か 、

日常 生活 で あんまり 見かけ ない です よね 、

少なく と 、私 は あまり いちご チョコ に 触れて こなかった んです けど 、

私 は 最近 、ハマって る んです よね 。

チョコレート を 溶かして 、苺 を ディップ する 、そして 冷やし 固める って だけ で 簡単な んです けど 、

美味しい んです 。

きっかけ は 、 バイト を して いる ジャパニーズレストラン の 同僚 で 、 苺 畑 でも 働 いるって いう 男の子 が いる ん です けど 、

あれ 、日本 は もう 少し 早い か 、

カリフォルニア で は 4月 から 6月 とか が ストロベリー の 季節 なんです 。

苺 畑 で 働いている 人 たち は 、結構 苺 を もらえる らしくて 、

その 男の子 が みんな に 苺 を 毎日 の ように 持ってきて くれる んです 。

最初 は ね 、 わ ー 、 苺 だ ぁって 喜んで 食べて た ん です けど 、

普通に 食べる の に も 飽きて きて です ね 、

で 、以前 バレンタイン の 時期 に 誰 か が 苺 チョコ 作って いた の を 思い出して 、

作って みよう ！ って 思って 作って みた んです 。

本当に 簡単な の に なんだか 特別 感 が 出る し 、高級 感 が ある って いう か 、見た目 も 可愛い ので プレゼント とか に しても いい し 、

ともかく 美味しい んです よ ね 。

ちょっと 軽い コーナー 、短い コーナー でした が 、

皆さん 、苺 チョコ 、チョコ 苺 ？ どっち か わから ないで す けど いまだに わからない んです けど 、食べた こと あります か ？
