English Convos with Camille (Interview with Melodie), PART 3.2 Melodie

PART 3.2 Melodie

Camille: Wow. So, what about future ideas, thoughts, dreams, what is on your heart right now?

Melodie: Hmm, so my oldest son is 18, his plan is to move to Japan. Camille: Yes. Melodie: And go to university there for design.

Camille: Oh, no way! That's so cool.

Melodie: Yep, architectural design. Urban design, and so I think that like as my kids get into this older.., you know, where they are becoming adults, your focus tends to shift from like yourself, to your kids, and so like I, my dream is that my kids have, you know, a really big sense of the, you know, like what they can do, and like Jude, where the world is his oyster. Like he can choose any country, you know, almost, to go to school and he's also learning Japanese, and it..., so I think that I would love to see my kids being healthy and happy and pursuing their dreams. So, that would be something that would be a future goal for me. And then with my kids being out in the world, I would still love to travel, and see them, and continue and maybe own a property somewhere, in another country. Like I think that would be really fun. So, I've always wanted to live in France.

Camille: Yeah, I hope you get to do that. Would you learn French if you lived in France?

Melodie: French is such a beautiful language. It is. It would be fun to learn.

Camille: Yeah, wow, do you have any other ideas for, say, expanding and doing more coffee shops, or... Melodie also does Airb&BnB. Would you like to do that on your properties as well?

Melodie: I think as you get older, like your ambitions get a little bit more like about living a quality life and I have one Airb&BnB, because I enjoy the process, and to me it's not so much about making a bunch of money, my husband has done a really good job of making money in our life.

Melodie: Yeah, what does he do? We haven't even talked about that.

Melodie: He owns an electrical company. So, he has shifted into different areas which has been really cool, like Tesla, and, you know, power walls, and also, more design, landscape design, and you know high-end homes, lighting design. So, it's really been a cool company that has then been able to grow with him, so…

Camille: Because he started his company how many years ago?

Melodie: I mean, he started it before we got married, so it's been probably 23 years.

Camille: That's really neat then, you've been able just to see his growth and evolution with the company.

Melodie: Yep, yep, we're really blessed to be able to… he's done well enough and he's kept it small enough, that it doesn't control us so that we can travel, you know. We travel about a month every summer, and it's a huge blessing for our family, and for like our, me as a mom who kind of just stays home a lot of times, before coffee shop, before my coffee shop phase. It was a little bit of an outlet of like experiencing the world, you know.

Camille: Totally. Yeah, you talk a lot about travel, which I love travel as well. Do you have some countries on your radar, that you would like to visit?

Melodie: Oh, yeah, oh, yeah, Egypt, Egypt is a big one. I love history, and I love like the Pharaohs, and the Valley of the Kings, and I love watching stuff about that so, so that would, that's definitely on my bucket list. Of course I have always wanted to go to Japan, which is so funny,

Camille: No way.

Melodie: I've never been, my son's never been, and he's moving there, so that would definitely be one.

Camille: Surely you will get to go to Japan, yeah, to visit him.

Melodie: If he actually moves, goes there, we will definitely go visit him.

Camille: Yeah.
