って いう か 、レジ の 人 の お札 の 取り扱い も 日本 より も 荒い んです よね 。 お札 揃えて 渡すって 感覚 が ない レジ の 人 も たくさん いる 気 が します 。 そんな 事 言ったら お客さん 側 も 揃えて 出す とかしなくて 、普通に グシャっ 。 はい 4 ドル ！ みたいな 感じ で 出したり する から ね 。

そう 、まあ という こと で 、ぐしゃぐしゃ の お札 は なかなか 自動販売機 に 入って いかない わけです よ 。 自動 販売 機 って いって も 、缶 ジュース や ペットボトル の 自動 販売 機 なんて 私 アメリカ に 来て から 数える 程 しか 使った こと なくて 、私 が よく 利用 する のは 、お水 を 大きな ボトル で 買う 時 なんです が 、日本 で 言う アクアクララ みたいな ウォーターサーバー ある じゃないですか 。 あれ を 我が家 で は 使って て 、 あ 、 でも アクアクララ みたいな 電動 の お 水 と お 湯 が 出る 〜って やつで は なくて 、 アメリカ は そういう 電動 の も もちろん あります けど 、 昔ながら の なんて いう の か ね 、 大きな ボトル 、５ ガロン の お 水 の ボトル を 、 エイヤーって 逆さまに して 、 陶器 で できた 、 昔 部活 で よく あった みたいな 麦茶 や ポカリ が 入ってる 大 容量 の コールマン と か の 、 クイって する と 出て くる みたいな やつ あった じゃ ないで す か 、 それ が 陶器 で 出来て て 、 ボトル を 逆さ に して 出て きた お 水 を その 陶器 の 容器 が 受けて 、 クイって する ところ から 出して 使うって いう アナログサーバー が ある 理由 です よ 。 って また 我が家 の ウォーターサーバー の 話 に それて しまいました が 、私 が 普段 買って いる お水 や さん の その お水 の 自販機 は ５ガロンで1ドル5 0セントなので毎回2ドル札を入れるんですが、まあ、入らないこと入らないこと。 何度 やって も 戻って きて イラっと する んです よ 。 シワ を よく 伸ばして から 入れたり 、ちょっと 念じて みたり とかする んです けど 、努力 の 甲斐 なく 入れて も 入れて も 戻って くる んです 。 自動 販売 機 も 気分 屋 で 、すっと 入る 時 は 一発 で 入って くれる のに 、一度 入ら なく なる と 全然 受け付けない の 。 もう もはや 、今日 の 運 試し ！ 的な 感じ です よ ね 。

この 前 なんて 、なかなか 入ら なくて 、やっと 入った と 思ったら 吸い込んじゃって 、1 ドル 入れた のに 無かった こと に なって 、これ も ね 、よく ある んです よね 。 その 時 は ちょうど その お水屋さん の 人 が 近く に いて 、事情 を 話して 1 ドル 返して もらいました けど 、お水 の 自動販売機 って 無人 の ところ も 多くて 、前 も ね 、1 ドル札 が 吸い込まれた こと が あって 、もちろん トラブル の とき の 連絡先 は 書いて あります けど 、1 ドル の ため に 連絡する の も ね ーって 感じ で 結局 あきらめちゃう んです よね 。 ほんと 、アメリカ の 自動 販売機 は 造り が 大雑把な んだ と 思います 。 前 も 知り合い が チップス の を 自販機 で 買ったら お釣り が 出て こなかった だ か 、お金 いれた のに 買えなかった だか 言ってました 。 アメリカ の 自動 販売機 は 運 試し 説 。

あ 、あと 気 を つけ なきゃ ならない の が ね 、クオーター の 両替機 です 。 自動 販売 機 と は ちょっと 違う んです が 、アメリカ の コインランドリー って 最新 の ところ は カード に お金 を 予め 入れて おいて 、その カード を 使って 洗濯機 や ドライヤー を 動かす んです けど 、古くからの ランドリー は 25 セントコイン 、クオーター を 使う んです 。 な ので 、ランドリー に は 大きな お金 から クオーター へ の 両替機 が 、ゲームセンター みたいな 感じ で 置いてある んです けど 、あれ も ね 、信用 しちゃ だめ です よ 。 刑事 と 同じ です ね 、疑う の が 仕事 で すって 感じ で 、常に 疑って ください 。 というのも 、 そういう クオーター の 両替 機 だ と 1 ドル 札 5 ドル 札 、10 ドル 札 、20 ドル 札って だいたい 両替 できる ん です が 、 1 ドル 5 ドル と か は 問題ない と 思う ん で すけ けど 、 大量の 両替 に なる と 、 ちゃんと 20 ドル なら 20 ドル 分 クオーター が 出て こない 事 が ある ん です 。 え 、びっくり じゃ ない です か ？

私 何度 も 両替 する の 面倒くさい から 、いつも 20 ドル を 一気に クオーター に 替える んです が 、まあ 20 ドル だと ほんと 大量に 出てくる んです よね 、何 枚 ？ ちょっと 私 数字 弱い ので 1 ドル で 4 枚 、20 ドル だと 80 枚 、え 、そんなに ？ そんな 事 ある ？ そんなに 多いっけ ？ まあ とにかく めっちゃ 出て くる んです よ 。 で 、一気に ドバー じゃ ら じゃ ら じゃ ら ！ じゃ なくて 、 じゃ ら じゃ ら … じゃ らっ。 じゃ ら じゃ ら じゃ ら じゃ ら じゃ ら … じゃ ら じゃ ら …って 感じ で 、 出て くる 様子 から して も 、 ちょっと 疑い たく なる ん です よ ね 。 で 、止まって 、よし 両替 出来た ！ と か 思って も 、その後 また ジャラジャラって 数 枚 出てきたり して 、え 、いつ が 終わり なの ？ これ 本当に 終わり ？ って 毎回 ちょっと 待っちゃう んです 。

そういう 怪しい こと が 多い ので 、前 に ちゃんと 20 ドル ある か 数え ながら 取って いったら 、足りない ！ って なって 、３ 枚 位 足りなくて 、でも 待って も もう 出て くる 気配 も ない し 、衝撃 。 こんな 事 ある の かって 思った こと が ありました 。 その 時 は 、 その コインランドリー の 番人 の おじちゃん が いた ので 、 3 枚 足りない ん です けど ーって 言い に 行った ん です が 、 すみません 、 と か じゃ なくて 、 ふ ー 面倒くさい な ー みたいな 感じ で 3 枚 クオーター 出して きて 、 なん や ねん それ ！ って イラッ と した の を 覚えて います 。 両替 機 で ちゃんと 枚数 出て こない って 、どう 思います ？ ホント 、皆さん 、気 を つけて ください 。

はい 、と いう こと で 、まあ アメリカ の 自動販売機 、両替機 など お金 を 投入する 系 は イマイチ 造り が 良くない と いう こと を ご紹介しました 。 本日 の アメリカ ある ある は 「アメリカ の 自動 販売機 は 運 試し 」でした 。

★ 英語 の 話 アメリカ 生活 と は 切って も 切れない 大きな 大きな 壁 、 英語 に ついて お 話して いる コーナー です 。

今日 は 最近 の 私 が 英語 の 勉強 、どんな こと を やってる か を 色々 お話して いこう と 思います 。 勉強 って いう 勉強 は して いない んです けど ね 。 でも この 自粛 生活 に なって から 少し 変わった かな ーって 思う ので 、お 話します 。 まず は 、英語 の クラス 。 今 学期 は あと 2 回 で 終わって しまう んです けど 、少し 前 の エピソード で Zoom の オンライン クラス に なって ちょっと や だ わ ーって 愚痴った クラス です ね 。 そう 、その クラス です 。 週 に よって 参加 できる 生徒 の 数 が 違って なかなか 予定 通り に 進ま ずに ただ 近況 報告 を はなして いたり する 日 も あったり するんです が 、まあ 今 では その 週 イチ の クラス も オンライン とはいえ 、大切な コミュニケーション の 練習 の 時間 と なっている ので 、前 に 愚痴ってた 時 よりも 前向きに 授業 を 受けている 感じ ですかね 。 私 は ちゃんと 毎週 皆勤 で 受けてます ！ 必ず 毎週 新しく 学ぶ こと と か 絶対 ある し 、ボキャブラリー や フレーズ も そう です が 、クラスメイト の 母国 の 文化 と 習慣 と か を 話す こと も 多くて 、今まで 知らなかった こと と か 聞く こと が できて 楽しい です 。

この クラス で は 、何でも いい から プレゼン を したい 人 は して いい って いう 自主的に プレゼン 作って それ を 発表 する って いう システム が あって 、今学期 だと イースター に ついて とか 、ラマダン に ついて とか 、各国 の ニュー イヤー に ついて とか 。 自分 の 出身 国 の ホリデー や 習慣 に ついて 発表 する 人 が 多い んです が 、これ やって も やらなくて も 良くて 、この 先生 の 同じ クラス を 取る の 、私 2 度目 なんです が 、1 回目 の 時 も チャンス が あった んです が 特に やらなくて 、で 、今 学期 も 今 話した みたいな 、その 世界的に も 有名な ホリデー とか 文化 とか に ついて は 先生 が 関連 する 生徒 に プレゼン 作って みない ？ って 声 かけ を して いる んです けど 私 は 特に 何も 言われて いなくて 、まー このまま 今学期 あと 授業 2回 だし 終わっても 良かった んです が 、せっかく だし 、本来 の 予定 では 今学期 は この クラス 真面目に しっかり 受ける ！ って いう の が 目標 だった ので 、少し でも 活用 って いったら おかしい です けど 、この クラス を 受けている こと を 十分に 活用 しよう と いう こと で 、プレゼン を やる こと に なりました 。 プレゼン と 言って も 形式 が 決まって いる わけで も なく 、スライド の 作り方 も みんな 適当だ し 、話 が まとまっている か といったら 、けっこう ダルダル なんで そんなに 難しく 考えなくて も いい んです けど ね 。

トピック は 何でも よくて 、時間 も ない し 話しやすくて 、更に 聞いている 皆 が 興味 を 持って くれそうな 、日本っぽい もの に しよう と 思って 、まあ 5月 だし 、こどもの日 に ついて プレゼン する こと に しました ！ 5月 5日 、アメリカ で は cinco de mayo という メキシコ の セレブレーション が あります 。 この前 の 授業 で cinco de mayo に ついて も 皆 で 話した ので 、「アメリカ で は cinco de mayo です が 、日本 で は 同じ 日 、子供 の 日 の お祝い が あるんです ！ 」的な 感じ で リンク する し 、こども の 日 で いこう と 思います ！ って 言ってます が まだ 全然 準備 できて いない ので 、急いで スライド 作って 原稿 作って 練習します ！ ひとまず プレゼン を やる こと に した って こと を 、自分 で 褒めて あげたい と 思います 。 プレゼン が 終了 したら 、また 自分 で 褒めて あげよう と 思います 。 そう 、私 は 褒められて 伸びる 子 。 コロナ が 広まって から 大きく 変わった こと は 、オンライン の ニュース を よく 読む ように なりました 。 前 から も ニュース サイト と か 目 を 通して た んです が 、より たくさんの 記事 読む ように なりました 。 コロナ 関係 の ね 。 日本 の 状況 も 知りたい し 、アメリカ の 特に 自分 の 住んでいる 州 や エリア の 情報 は 英語 で 読まなければ タイムリーに は 把握 できない ですし ね 。 日本 、アメリカ の こと も そう です が 、世界 の ニュース とかも 読みます 。 時に は 日本語 と 英語 両方 で 同じ ニュース に ついて 読んだり して 、そうする と 更に 良く 理解 できて いい です 。 朝 起きた 時 と 、夜 寝る 時 に スマホ で 見る の が 習慣 と なっている んです が 、まずは 日本 の ニュース を 開いて 、何か すごく 大きい ニュース は ない かな ーって 確認します 。 そういう の は 日本語 で バッと 見た ほうが すぐ 理解 できる し ね 。 トップニュース チェック して 、コロナ 関係 の タブ チェック して 、国際 ニュース の タブ も チェック して 、一応 芸能 ニュース も 見て 、で 、アメリカ 側 の ニュース サイト を チェック します 。 前 も 話した かも しれません が 、私 は Smart NEWS って アプリ を 使って います 。 カテゴリ ごと に 色々な ニュース サイト の ニュース を まとめて 表示して くれる アプリ で 見やすい から 日本 に 居た 頃 から 使ってる んです が 、 Smart News は 設定 で どこ の 国 の ニュース に する か を 選べて 更に デバイスロケーション で カリフォルニア の ニュース 、更に は 住んでいる カウンティ や エリア の ニュース が ある と それ を 表示して くれて 使い やすい です 。 日本 の ニュース は 定番 ヤフーニュース なんです が 、皆 の コメント とか を 読む の も 興味深くて 他の ニュースアプリ に しよう かなって 思う んです けど ヤフー から 抜け出せません 。 ともかく 、けっこう ニュース を 読んでます 。 あと は 最近 ツイッター で 新しく 覚えた 単語 と か フレーズ を つぶやいたり して います 。 私 が 日々 出会う 新しい 単語 を 全部 つぶやいて たら 、それ だけ で 一日 終わっちゃう ので 、ほんと 気まぐれで 、授業 で 習った 単語 とか 、ニュース 見てて わからなくて 調べた 単語 とか 、その他 テレビ 見てて 知った 単語 とか 、つぶやきたい なーって 思った 時 に つぶやいています 。 ほんと 少し づつ です が 、記録 に 残す こと で 記憶 に も 残る んです よね 。 意味 を 一 度 で 覚えらくて も 、あ 、これ この前 つぶやいた …って 思い出して 、あー 、こういう 意味 だった わ ！ って 再 確認 する と 更に 記憶 に 残って いい と 思います 。 少なくとも ちょっと ずつ です が 語彙 力 増えて る と 思って います 。 やっぱり 見て る だけ 、調べる だけ だ と 覚え ないで す から ね 、前 も 話した こと あります が 、1 つ の 単語 を 色んな 場面 で 目 に したり 耳 に したり する こと で 覚えて いきます よね 。 やっぱり インプット を 多く の ソース から する こと に は 意義 が ある よ ね 。 あと は 、たまに うち の 旦那 に も 「今日 ○○って 単語 新しく 覚えた よ ー 」とか 「この フレーズ 知ってる ？ 」って 習得 した もの を シェア したり も します 。 こう やって 誰 に 話す こと も いい です よね 。 一 番 は 実際 に 使って アウトプット して いく の が いい の です が 、 こい う 単語 今日 知った よ ーって 誰 か に 話す だけ でも いい と 思います ！ 家族 で も いい し 、友達 とか の スタディバディ みたな 人 と やって も いい です よね 。

ツイッター で つぶやい やいて いる 割に 、全然 フォローワー 少ない ので 、ぜひ 、ツイッター を やって いる 皆さん 、ぜひ 私 を フォロー して ください 〜 。 アカウント は 4989 America です 。 4989 の ロゴ が プロフィール 写真 な ので すぐ わかる と 思います 。 あ 、あと ね 、新しく 覚えた 単語 や フレーズ だけ で は なく 、響き が かっこいい から 、なんとなく ネイティブっぽい から 使いたい 単語 や フレーズ も 時々 つぶやいて います 。 フォロアー さん から も 「私 は これ を 使いたい ！ 」と か 「私 は これ に 憧れる ！ 」みたいな 感じ で リプ を もらったり して 、そういう の も 楽しい です 。 楽しみ ながら 語彙 、増やして いきたい です ね 。 はい 、最後に です が 、つい 先日 から 夫婦 で 英語 を 話そう チャレンジ を スタート させました 。 もう アメリカ 来て 以降 、何度 挑戦 した か わからない 程 挑戦してきました が 、やっぱり 同じ 日本人 同士 だと 続かない んです よね 。 でも 年々 、チャレンジ する 毎 に スムーズに 会話 が できて 、期間 も 続く ように なってきている ので 、今回 は 長く 英語 期間 が 続く ように 頑張りたい と 思います 。 自粛 生活 と なって 、学校 の 先生 を やって いる うち の 旦那さん も 毎日 家 に いる ように なった ので 、仕事 は している ものの 、ランチ を 毎日 一緒に 食べます し 、これまでの 平日 よりも 会話量 が 増えました 。 夫婦 に とって とても 良い こと な のです が 、まあ 旦那さん は もう 英語 は ペラペラ な ので いい のです が 、私 は 外界 と コネクション が なくなって 、明らかに 英語 を 話す 時間 が 減った ので 、この 夫婦間 の 会話量 の 増加 を 上手く 使って ね 、チャンス ！ と して 英語 頑張りたい と 思います 。
