コロナ の ワクチン です が 、私 が 住む アメリカ 、カリフォルニア 州 で は 4/15 から 、やっと 16 歳 以上 の 一般 人 へ の 接種 も スタート しました 。 州 に よって 、この ワクチン 接種 の スケジュール と いう の は 違って です ね 、

もう 3 月 末 の 時点 で 一般 に も 開放 して いる ところ も あれば 、カリフォルニア より も 遅い ところ も ある ようです 。

でも 、アメリカ 全体 として 、今週 から かな 、この エピソード を アップロード している 4/19 から 、どこ の 州 でも 一般 の 若い 世代 へ の 接種 が オープンに なっている みたいです ね 。

私 も です ね 、早速 土曜日 に 1 本 目 を 打って きました 。 15 日 って 、何 曜日 だったっけ 、木曜日 か 。 ワクチン 打つ の に 予約 が 必要な んです けど 、木曜日 に 一般人 へ 解禁 に なって 、きっと どこも 混んでいて 予約 が 取れる のは 少し 先 か な 、

少し 待たなければ ならない か なって 予想 して いた んです けど 、

なんと 、2 日 後 の 土曜日 に 普通に 予約 が 取れて 、拍子抜け しました 。 ワクチン の 接種 会場 、場所 って いう の も 色々 あって 、 病院 は もちろん です し 、ドラッグストア とか 、pharmacy ,薬局 が 併設 されている スーパー 、 私 の 住んでいる エリア で は Safeway って いう 大きな スーパー の チェーン が ある んです けど 、そういう スーパー でも やってたり 、 あと は 、特設 会場 みたな 、まとまった 大人数 が 一気に 接種 できる ように イベント じゃ ない けど 、なんて いう んです か 、

そういう pop up ？ ちがう な 、もう 日本 語 でも 英語 でも 何て 言ったら いい の か わかりません が 、 特設 会場 です ね 、そい うの が あったり も します 。 たとえば 、先日 16歳 以上 の 一般 が 接種 対象 に 入った って こと で 、地元 の 高校 で 生徒 が ワクチン を 受けられる ように って 、 高校 の 敷地 内 で 大規模な 接種 、接種 大会 ？ なに 、イベント ？ 接種 …

ま ぁ 、はい 、その 高校 が 接種 会場 に なったり も して います 。 私 の 友達 は 、普段 から 行って いる 病院 から 連絡 が 来て 、ワクチン の 接種 予約 できる けど どう します か ー ？ って 。

で 、予約 したって 言ってました 。 私 は というと 、我が家 は 普段 全然 病院 とか に 行か ない ので 、かかりつけ の 病院 も 無い ですし 、

普通に 、ネット で この 辺 の ドラッグストア を 検索 して 、で 、空き を 見つけて 予約 しました 。 当日 は 、すっごい スムーズ で 、全然 待ち時間 と かも なく 、 打って くれた お 兄さん も イケメン で 、優しくて 、

打つ 前 は 、注射 か ぁ 、痛かったら ヤダ なぁって 思ってたんです が 、全然 痛く なくて 、 しかも イケメン と 交流 できて 、

なんなら ご 褒美 だった な と 思える ほど でした ね 。

ちなみに 1 本 目 の 接種 後 、腕 の 打った 周辺 が ちょっと 痛かったり って してます けど 、 特に 体調 に 変化 は なく 、

私 の 場合 です けど ね 。

同時に うち の 夫 が 2 本 目 を 打った んです けど 、

一般 的に 2 本 目 の 方 が リアクション が 出 やすい って 言われてます が 、その 通り で 、 打った 日 の 夜 は 少し ダルい かも ーって 言ってて 、 夜中 に は 関節 痛 が 来た ーって 言って て 、 朝 に なる と 38 度 超え の 熱 が 出ました 。 けっこう みんな 同じ ような 症状 らしい です ね 。

私 、何も 考え ずに 1 本 目 を 打って 、既に 2 本 目 の 予約 も して ある んです けど 、

モデルナ の ワクチン です が 、

約 １ ヶ月 後 に 2 本 目 を 打つ って やつ なんです が 、 その ね 2 本 目 の 予約 が 5 月 中旬 の 同じく 土曜日 な んです よ 。 今回 の 夫 の 様子 を 見て いる と 、翌日 の 日曜日 は 寝て 過ごす 事 に なり そうで 、

ちょっと ね 、心配 な の は 、5月 の その 次 の 週 が カレッジ の Final の 週 な んです よね 。 学期 末 テスト です ね 。

テスト が あったり 、大きな 提出物 が あったり して 、

だから その 直前 の 土日 は 結構 鍵 に なる んじゃないか なって 思ってる んですけど 、

あれ 、私 寝込んじゃ う じゃん ！ って いう ね 。

勉強 方法 って 言って も ね 、何 を 勉強 して いる の か 、教科 とか 具体的な 内容 とか に も よる と 思います が 、 あと は 自分 に あった 勉強 方法 って 人 に よって 違う ので 、自分 で 自分 の スタイル を 見つけて いく しか ない んです けど ね 。 そんな 中 、最近 、最近 というか 今学期 、本格的に 勉強 を 始めて 気づいた のは 、

やっぱり 私 、書く こと が 好きだ な 、

何 か 書きたい んだ なって いう 、手 で ね 、ペン で 紙 に 。 そう 気づいた んです よ 。

で 、それ が 今 の 、私 の 今 勉強 して いる 環境 に も 合った やり方 な の か なって いう の が 、ふと 疑問 に 思って です ね 、ちょっと 今日 話そう か なって 思いました 。 まず 、今学期 、私 の カレッジ は 全部 の クラス が オンライン で 、

in personって 直接 教室 に 行って 授業 を 受けるって クラス が ない ん です よ ね 。 クラス に よって 、先生 に よって スケジュール と か 課題 ・テスト と か を どう やる の か と か 、その 組み立て 方 と か は 違う んです が 、

Live の レクチャー が 週 1 回 あった と しても 教科書 の 読み合わせ みたいな の は しないで 、

教科書 の 中 の その 週 の チャプター は 基本的に もう みんな 頭 に 入って いる こと 前提 で 先生 の 説明 が ある みたいな 、そんな 進み方 なんです よ 。

だから 「とりあえず 自分 で 読んで 理解して ね 」という スタイル です 。

更に は 、 その レクチャー の 時間 すらない 先生 も いて 、 今週 は この チャプター です 、 みんな 各自 勉強 して ね ー 、

はい 、 何 曜日 が クイズ です ー

なんか わからない こと が あったら 、 質問 して ね ー

って いう 完全に 自己 学習 と いう か 、悪い 言い方 を する と 放置 と いう か 、そんな 感じ で 、

ま ぁね 、 in person の オンライン で は ない クラス も 実際 は そんな これ と 変わら ない の かも しれない です けど ね 、

大学 の クラス なんて 小学校 や 中学校 で は ない んだ から 、教科書 皆 んで 開いて とか 、そんな 時間 は 取らない の かも しれない です けど 、

ドン って 教科書 が 目の前 に あって 、はい 、自分 で 勉強 して ください って 言わ れた 時 に どう やって 勉強 して いこう みたいな 、

どう やって 理解 して いこうって 、 どう やれば いい の かって わから なく なっちゃって 。 こんな 真剣な 勉強 自体 が 高校生 ぶり とか で 、久しぶり 過ぎて 、あれ 、勉強って どう やって する んだっけ 、みたいな 。 しかも この ね 、自主 学習 スタイル で 。

今 学期 は 4 クラス 取って いる のです が 、数学 の クラス 以外 は 同じ ような 感じ で 、

教科書 を まず 読みましょう 、自分 で 理解 しましょう スタイル なんです よ 。 で 、ただ クイズ を パス して いく だけ なら 、

一通り 教科書 に 目 を 通して おけば 、基本 大丈夫 な んです 。

というのも 今 の ところ クイズ は Open book って 教科書 見て 答える こと が できる スタイル な ので 。 でも 、クイズ を パス する ため に 勉強 している わけで は ない じゃない ですか 。

大 前提 で クイズ で 良い 点 取って 、クラス を ひと 学期 通して 良い 成績 で パス したい って いの は ある んです けど 、

でも ちゃんと 内容 を 理解 して い なかったら 意味 ない わけで 。

そう 、これ が ね 、ちょっと ジレンマ という か 、

私 は もう 大人 で 、意味 を 持って カレッジ で 勉強 したい わけです よ 。 だから ひとつひとつ の 各 クラス を 興味 を もって 受けたい んです よね 。 テスト の ため だけ に 勉強 みたいな 、とりあえず テスト で 点 取れれば 、クラス を パス できれば って いう の だ と 、 自分 が 日本 に いた 時 の 若い 頃 と 変わらない じゃん って いう 、 わかります ？ この 気持ち 。

せっかく この 大人 に なって 、わざわざ カレッジ で ガッツリ 勉強 しようって 決めた なら 、 本当に 知識 を つけたい な 。 みたいな 。

自分 の 身 に なる ように 知識 を 蓄えて いきたい な 、みたいな 。 ま ぁ そんな 気持ち が あって 、

で 、どう やったら ちゃんと 理解 し つつ 進める かなって 考えて いて 、

英語 であるって いう こと も 大きな 理由 の ひとつ なんです が 、私 の 場合 、ただ 教科書 を 読んで いても 全然 理解 できない んです よ 。 普段 、オンライン 上 の 教科書 とか 、これ 読みなさい って いう ウェブ 上 の 記事 や 文章 みたいな の が ある 時 は 、 音声 が 出て 文章 を 読み上げて くれる ブラウザ の イクステンション を 使って 目 で 追い つつ 、耳 から も 聞き つつ って やってる んです けど 、 大量 の 英語 を 前 に する と 、

ふと 気 を 抜く と 、魂 が どっか 飛んでっちゃって 、 全然 頭 に 入って こなかったり する ので 、しっかり 集中 して 読んで 耳 で 聞いて って やら なきゃ なん です が 、 それ でも 頻繁に 何度 も 同じ ところ を 読んで 聞いて 、

え 、今 なん つった ？

え 、ぜんっぜん わかんない 、なに なに 、どういう こと ？ って こと が 発生 して 、じっくり 読み 解いて みたいな 時間 が 必要です 。 私 に は 。

すごく 自分 で 気 を つけ なきゃ なって 思って いる の が 、

これ 、英語 で 何 か 勉強 して いる 方 と か 、

何 語 でも いいん です が 、母国 語 以外 の 言葉 で 何か を 勉強して いる 人 で 、同じ ように 感じている 人 いる かも しれない んです けど 、

気 を つけ なきゃ ならない の が 、

英語 を 理解 して いる 、その 目の前 の 英語 の 文章 を 理解 して いる ＝勉強 して いる 内容 そのもの を 理解 して いる って こと で は ない って こと なんです 。 またもや ね 、私 、よく わからない こと を 言い始めて 、

皆さん わかって くれる と いい な ー と 思って 話します が 、 英語 頑張って 理解 し なくちゃって 意気込んで 、教科書 とか 読む んです けど 、 その 英語 の 「文章 」の 意味 を 理解 する の と 、その 文章 が 説明 している こと を 理解 する のって 違います よね 。 私 の 言って いる こと 伝わってます か ね ？ ただ 長い 文章 を 読み 進めて いって 、一応 それぞれ の 文章 ごと に は ふんふん って 意味 が わかって いる つもり なんです けど 、 1ページ 読み 終えた 時 に 、え 、で 結局 どういう こと ？

みたいな 、全然 結局 何 を 言って いる の か イメージ できない ことって ありません か ？ 特に 教科書 と か だと 、教科書以外 でも そう か 、

何 が 重要な ポイント な の か とか を 自分 ちゃん と わかってる かな ？ って こと が 大切 だ なって 思って いて 、
