A Boy put his hand into a jar of Filberts, and grasped as many as his fist could possibly hold.

Un garçon a mis la main dans un bocal de cerneaux et en a saisi autant que son poing pouvait en contenir.
But when he tried to pull it out again, he found he couldn't do so, for the neck of the jar was too small to allow of the passage of so large a handful.
ولكن عندما حاول سحبها مرة أخرى، اكتشف أنه لا يستطيع فعل ذلك، لأن عنق الجرة كان صغيرًا جدًا للسماح بمرور حفنة كبيرة كهذه.
Mais lorsqu'il essaya de la retirer à nouveau, il s'aperçut qu'il ne pouvait pas le faire, car le col de la jarre était trop petit pour permettre le passage d'une si grosse poignée.

غير راغب في أن يخسر صوابه ولكن غير قادر على سحب يده، انفجر في البكاء.
Ne voulant pas perdre ses noisettes mais ne pouvant retirer sa main, il fond en larmes.
A bystander, who saw where the trouble lay, said to him, "Come, my boy, don't be so greedy: be content with half the amount, and you'll be able to get your hand out without difficulty."
فقال له أحد المارة، الذي رأى أين تكمن المشكلة: "تعال يا بني، لا تكن جشعًا إلى هذا الحد: كن راضيًا بنصف المبلغ، وسوف تتمكن من إخراج يدك دون صعوبة".
Un passant, qui voyait où était le problème, lui dit : "Allons, mon garçon, ne sois pas si gourmand : contente-toi de la moitié de la somme, et tu pourras retirer ta main sans difficulté."
