L'HOMME ET LE LION
A Man and a Lion were companions on a journey, and in the course of conversation they began to boast about their prowess, and each claimed to be superior to the other in strength and courage.
كان رجل وأسد رفيقين في رحلة، وخلال الحديث بدأوا يتفاخرون بقوتهم، وادعى كل منهما أنه متفوق على الآخر في القوة والشجاعة.
Un homme et un lion étaient compagnons de voyage et, au cours de leur conversation, ils commencèrent à se vanter de leurs prouesses, chacun prétendant être supérieur à l'autre en force et en courage.
They were still arguing with some heat when they came to a cross-road where there was a statue of a Man strangling a Lion.
كانا لا يزالان يتجادلان ببعض الغضب عندما وصلا إلى مفترق طرق حيث كان هناك تمثال لرجل يخنق أسدًا.
Ils étaient encore en train de se disputer avec une certaine chaleur lorsqu'ils arrivèrent à un carrefour où se trouvait une statue d'un homme étranglant un lion.
"There!"
"هناك!"
said the Man triumphantly, "look at that!
قال الرجل منتصرا: "انظر إلى هذا!"
dit l'homme triomphant, "regardez ça !
Doesn't that prove to you that we are stronger than you?"
Cela ne vous prouve-t-il pas que nous sommes plus forts que vous ?"
"Not so fast, my friend," said the Lion: "that is only your view of the case.
"ليس بهذه السرعة يا صديقي"، قال الأسد، "هذه مجرد وجهة نظرك للقضية.
"Pas si vite, mon ami, dit le Lion, ce n'est que votre point de vue sur l'affaire.
If we Lions could make statues, you may be sure that in most of them you would see the Man underneath."
"إذا كان بإمكاننا نحن الأسود أن نصنع تماثيل، فتأكد أنك سترى في معظمها الرجل الذي تحته."
Si nous, les Lions, pouvions faire des statues, vous pouvez être sûrs que dans la plupart d'entre elles, vous verriez l'Homme en dessous".
