THE SHEPHERD'S BOY AND THE WOLF
LE BERGER ET LE LOUP
A Shepherd's Boy was tending his flock near a village, and thought it would be great fun to hoax the villagers by pretending that a Wolf was attacking the sheep: so he shouted out, "Wolf!
كان أحد رعاة الغنم يرعى قطيعه بالقرب من قرية، وفكر أنه سيكون من الممتع للغاية أن يخدع القرويين بالتظاهر بأن ذئبًا يهاجم الغنم: لذلك صاح، "الذئب!
Un berger, qui gardait son troupeau près d'un village, pensa qu'il serait amusant de tromper les villageois en prétendant qu'un loup attaquait les moutons : il cria donc "Loup !
wolf!"
and when the people came running up he laughed at them for their pains.
وعندما جاء الناس يركضون إليه، ضحك عليهم بسبب آلامهم.
et quand les gens accoururent, il se moqua d'eux pour leur peine.
He did this more than once, and every time the villagers found they had been hoaxed, for there was no Wolf at all.
لقد فعل هذا أكثر من مرة، وفي كل مرة اكتشف القرويون أنهم تعرضوا للخداع، لأنه لم يكن هناك ذئب على الإطلاق.
Il le fit plus d'une fois, et à chaque fois les villageois s'aperçurent qu'ils avaient été dupés, car il n'y avait pas de Loup du tout.
At last a Wolf really did come, and the Boy cried, "Wolf!
Enfin, un loup arriva vraiment, et le garçon s'écria : "Loup !
wolf!"
as loud as he could: but the people were so used to hearing him call that they took no notice of his cries for help.
كان ينادي بصوت مرتفع قدر استطاعته: لكن الناس اعتادوا على سماع صراخه لدرجة أنهم لم ينتبهوا إلى صراخه طلبًا للمساعدة.
Mais les gens étaient tellement habitués à l'entendre appeler qu'ils ne prirent pas garde à ses appels au secours.
And so the Wolf had it all his own way, and killed off sheep after sheep at his leisure.
وهكذا كان الذئب يفعل كل شيء بطريقته الخاصة، وكان يقتل الأغنام واحدة تلو الأخرى كما يحلو له.
Le loup n'en fit qu'à sa tête et tua mouton après mouton à sa guise.
You cannot believe a liar even when he tells the truth.
لا يمكنك تصديق الكاذب حتى لو قال الحقيقة.
