- 提 阿非 羅 大人 哪 ， 有 好些 人 提筆 作書 ， 述說 在 我們 中間 所 成就 的 事 ， 是 照 傳道 的 人 從 起初 親眼看見 又 傳給 我們 的 。 - Lord Theophilus, many have taken up pens and written books of what has been done among us, as the preachers have seen with their own eyes from the beginning, and have passed them down to us. 這些 事 我 既 從 起頭 都 詳細 考察 了 ， 就定 意要 按 著 次序 寫給 你 ， 使 你 知道 所學 之道 都 是 確實 的 。 Since I have examined these things in detail from the beginning, I have decided to write them down to you in order, so that you may know that what you have learned is true. 當 猶太 王希律 的 時候 ， 亞比雅班裡 有 一個 祭司 ， 名叫 撒迦 利亞 ； 他 妻子 是 亞倫 的 後人 ， 名叫 以 利沙 伯 。 In the days of Herod, king of Judea, there was a priest in Abijah's class, whose name was Zechariah; and his wife, a descendant of Aaron, whose name was Elizabeth. 他們 二人 在 神 面前 都 是 義人 ， 遵行 主 的 一切 誡命 禮儀 ， 沒有 可 指摘 的 ， 只是 沒有 孩子 ； 因為 以 利沙 伯 不 生育 ， 兩個 人 又 年紀 老邁 了 。 Both of them were righteous before God, obeying all the commandments and ceremonies of the Lord, blameless, but childless; for Elizabeth was barren, and both were old and old. 撒迦 利亞 按 班次 在 神 面前 供 祭司 的 職分 ， 照 祭司 的 規矩 掣 籤 ， 得進 主殿 燒香 。 Zechariah served the priesthood before God according to the shifts, and cast lots according to the priestly rules to enter the temple of the Lord to burn incense. 燒香 的 時候 ， 眾 百姓 在 外面 禱告 。 有主 的 使者 站 在 香壇 的 右邊 ， 向 他 顯現 。 撒迦 利亞 看見 ， 就 驚慌 害怕 。 天使 對 他 說 ： 撒迦 利亞 ， 不要 害怕 ， 因為 你 的 祈禱 已經 被 聽見 了 。 你 的 妻子 以 利沙 伯要給 你 生 一個 兒子 ， 你 要給 他 起名叫 約翰 。 你 必 歡喜 快樂 ； 有 許多 人因 他 出世 ， 也 必 喜樂 。 You will rejoice and rejoice; many will rejoice because of him. 他 在 主 面前 將要 為 大 ， 淡酒 濃酒 都 不 喝 ， 從 母腹 裡就 被 聖靈 充滿 了 。 He will be great before the Lord, and will drink neither wine nor strong drink, but will be filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb. 他 要 使 許多 以色列 人 回轉 ， 歸於 主 ─ 他們 的 神 。 He will convert many Israelites to the Lord, their God. 他 必有 以 利亞 的 心志 能力 ， 行在主 的 前面 ， 叫 為 父 的 心 轉向 兒女 ， 叫 悖逆 的 人轉 從義人 的 智慧 ， 又 為 主 預備 合用 的 百姓 。 He will walk before the Lord with the mind and strength of Elijah, turning the heart of the father to the children, and the rebellious to the wisdom of the righteous, and preparing a people fit for the Lord. 撒迦 利亞 對 天使 說 ： 我 憑 著 甚麼 可 知道 這事 呢 ？ Zechariah said to the angel: How can I know this? 我 已經 老 了 ， 我 的 妻子 也 年紀 老邁 了 。 天使 回答 說 ： 我 是 站 在 神 面前 的 加 百列 ， 奉差 而來 對 你 說話 ， 將這好 信息 報給 你 。 The angel replied: I am Gabriel standing before God, sent to speak to you, to give you this good news. 到 了 時候 ， 這話 必然 應驗 ； 只 因 你 不信 ， 你 必 啞吧 ， 不能 說話 ， 直到 這事 成就 的 日子 。 In due time these words will be fulfilled; but because you do not believe, you will be dumb, and will not be able to speak until the day when this is done. 百姓 等候 撒迦 利亞 ， 詫異 他 許久 在 殿裡 。 The people waited for Zechariah and were amazed that he was in the temple for a long time. 及至 他 出來 ， 不能 和 他們 說話 ， 他們 就 知道 他 在 殿裡 見 了 異象 ； 因為 他 直向 他們 打手式 ， 竟成 了 啞吧 。 When he came out, and could not speak to them, they knew that he had seen a vision in the temple; for he was dumb, because he was beating them. 他 供職 的 日子 已滿 ， 就 回家 去 了 。 這些 日子 以後 ， 他 的 妻子 以 利沙 伯 懷了孕 ， 就 隱藏 了 五個 月 ， 說 ： 主在 眷顧 我 的 日子 ， 這樣 看待 我 ， 要 把 我 在 人間 的 羞恥 除掉 。 After these days, his wife Elizabeth became pregnant, and she hid herself for five months, saying: The Lord looks upon me in this way in the days of my favor, and will take away my shame among men. 到 了 第六個 月 ， 天使 加 百列 奉神 的 差遣 往 加利利 的 一座 城去 ， 這城 名叫 拿 撒勒 ， 到 一個 童女 那裡 ， 是 已經 許配 大衛 家 的 一個 人 ， 名叫 約瑟 。 In the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin who had been betrothed to a man from the house of David, whose name was Joseph. 童女 的 名字 叫 馬利亞 ； 天使 進去 ， 對 他 說 ： 蒙 大恩 的 女子 ， 我問 你 安 ， 主 和 你 同 在 了 ！ The virgin's name was Mary; and the angel entered and said to her, My gracious woman, I greet you, the Lord is with you! 馬利亞 因 這話 就 很 驚慌 ， 又 反 復 思想 這樣 問安 是 甚麼 意思 。 Mary was very alarmed by this, and she pondered over the meaning of this greeting. 天使 對 他 說 ： 馬利亞 ， 不要 怕 ！ 你 在 神 面前 已經 蒙恩 了 。 你 要 懷孕 生子 ， 可以 給他 起名叫 耶穌 。 他 要 為 大 ， 稱為 至 高者 的 兒子 ； 主神 要 把 他 祖 大衛 的 位給 他 。 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God shall give him the throne of his father David. 他 要 作 雅各 家 的 王 ， 直到 永遠 ； 他 的 國也 沒有 窮盡 。 馬利亞 對 天使 說 ： 我 沒有 出嫁 ， 怎麼 有 這事 呢 ？ Mary said to the angel: I am not married, how can this happen? 天使 回答 說 ： 聖靈 要 臨到 你 身上 ， 至 高者 的 能力 要 蔭庇 你 ， 因此 所要 生 的 聖者 必稱 為 神 的 兒子 （ 或作 ： 所要 生 的 ， 必稱 為 聖 ， 稱為 神 的 兒子 ）。 The angel replied: The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the holy one who is to be born will be called the Son of God 況且 你 的 親戚 以 利沙 伯 ， 在 年老 的 時候 也 懷 了 男胎 ， 就是 那 素來 稱為 不 生育 的 ， 現在 有孕 六個月 了 。 Besides, your relative Elizabeth, who in old age also conceived a male child, the one who was called barren, is now six months pregnant. 因為 ， 出於 神 的話 ， 沒有 一句 不帶 能力 的 。 For there is not a word of God's word that is powerless. 馬利亞 說 ： 我 是 主 的 使女 ， 情願 照 你 的話 成就 在 我 身上 。 Mary said: I am the handmaid of the Lord, let it be done to me according to your word. 天使 就 離開 他 去 了 。 那 時候 ， 馬利亞 起身 ， 急忙 往 山地 裡去 ， 來到 猶大 的 一座 城 ； 進 了 撒迦 利亞 的 家 ， 問以 利沙 伯安 。 以 利沙 伯一 聽 馬利亞 問安 ， 所懷 的 胎 就 在 腹裡 跳動 。 When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the womb was beating in her womb. 以 利沙 伯且 被 聖靈 充滿 ， 高聲 喊 著 說 ： 你 在 婦女 中是 有福 的 ！ Elizabeth, being filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out with a loud voice, Blessed are you among women! 你 所懷 的 胎 也 是 有 福 的 ！ Blessed is your womb! 我主 的 母到 我 這裡 來 ， 這 是從 那裡 得 的 呢 ？ The mother of my lord came to me, where did she get it? 因為 你 問安 的 聲音 一入 我 耳 ， 我 腹裡 的 胎 就 歡喜 跳動 。 這 相信 的 女子 是 有 福 的 ！ Blessed is the woman who believes! 因為 主對 他 所說 的話 都 要 應驗 。 Because what the Lord said to him will be fulfilled. 馬利亞 說 ： 我心 尊主 為 大 ； 我靈 以神 我 的 救主 為樂 ； 因為 他 顧念 他 使女 的 卑微 ； 從今以後 ， 萬代 要 稱 我 有福 。 Mary said: My heart magnifies the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour; for he cares for the lowliness of his handmaid; henceforth all generations will call me blessed. 那 有權 能 的 ， 為 我 成就 了 大事 ； 他 的 名為 聖 。 He who is mighty has done great things for me; holy is his name. 他 憐憫 敬畏 他 的 人 ， 直到 世世代代 。 He has mercy on those who fear him, from generation to generation. 他用 膀臂 施展 大能 ； 那 狂傲 的 人 正心裡 妄想 就 被 他 趕散 了 。 With his arm he wielded mighty power; he drove the arrogant man away just as he was thinking. 他 叫 有 權柄 的 失位 ， 叫 卑賤 的 升高 ； 叫 飢餓 的 得 飽 美食 ， 叫 富足 的 空手 回去 。 He lifts the powerful, and exalts the lowly; he fills the hungry with food, and makes the rich go back empty-handed. 他 扶助 了 他 的 僕人 以色列 ， 為 要 記念 亞伯拉罕 和 他 的 後裔 ， 施 憐憫 直到 永遠 ， 正如 從前 對 我們 列祖 所說 的話 。 He helped his servant Israel, in remembrance of Abraham and his descendants, showing mercy forever, as he said to our fathers. 馬利亞 和 以 利沙 伯同 住 ， 約 有 三個 月 ， 就 回家 去 了 。 Mary lived with Elizabeth for about three months, and went home. 以 利沙 伯 的 產期 到 了 ， 就生 了 一個 兒子 。 鄰里 親族 聽見 主向 他 大施 憐憫 ， 就 和 他 一同 歡樂 。 His neighbors and relatives rejoiced with him when they heard that the Lord had shown him great mercy. 到 了 第八日 ， 他們 來 要給 孩子 行 割禮 ， 並要 照 他 父親 的 名字 叫 他 撒迦 利亞 。 On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child and to call him Zechariah after his father. 他 母親 說 ： 不可 ！ 要 叫 他 約翰 。 他們 說 ： 你 親族 中 沒有 叫 這 名字 的 。 他們 就 向 他 父親 打手式 ， 問他 要 叫 這 孩子 甚麼 名字 。 They then turned to his father and asked him what name he wanted to call the child. 他 要 了 一塊 寫字 的 板 ， 就 寫 上 ， 說 ： 他 的 名字 是 約翰 。 He asked for a writing board, and he wrote it, saying: His name is John. 他們 便 都 希奇 。 撒迦 利亞 的 口 立時 開 了 ， 舌頭 也 舒展 了 ， 就 說出 話 來 ， 稱頌 神 。 Immediately Zechariah's mouth opened, and his tongue stretched out, and he spoke, praising God. 周圍 居住 的 人 都 懼怕 ； 這 一切 的 事 就 傳遍 了 猶太 的 山地 。 凡 聽見 的 人都將 這事 放在 心裡 ， 說 ： 這個 孩子 將來 怎麼樣 呢 ？ All who heard it took this to heart and said, "What will happen to this child in the future?" 因為 有主 與 他 同 在 。 because the Lord was with him. 他 父親 撒迦 利亞 被 聖靈 充滿 了 ， 就 預言 說 ： 主 ─ 以色列 的 神 是 應當 稱頌 的 ！ His father Zechariah, being filled with the Holy Spirit, prophesied: Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel! 因 他 眷顧 他 的 百姓 ， 為 他們 施行 救贖 ， 在 他 僕人 大衛 家中 ， 為 我們 興起 了 拯救 的 角 ， 正如 主藉 著 從 創世 以來 聖 先知 的 口 所說 的話 ， 拯救 我們 脫離 仇敵 和 一切 恨 我們 之人 的 手 ， 向 我們 列祖 施 憐憫 ， 記念 他 的 聖約 ─ 就是 他 對 我們 祖宗 亞伯拉罕 所起 的 誓 ─ 叫 我們 既 從 仇敵 手中 被 救 出來 ， 就 可以 終身 在 他 面前 ， 坦然 無懼 的 用 聖潔 、 公義 事奉 他 。 For he cared for his people and redeemed them, and he raised up the horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David, just as the Lord hath spoken by the mouth of the holy prophets from the foundation of the world, who delivered us from our enemies and all that hate us the hands of our fathers, showing mercy to our fathers, and remembering his covenant—the oath he swore to our father Abraham—that we, having been delivered from the hand of our enemies, may be before him all our days without fear. Serve him in holiness and righteousness. 孩子 阿 ！ 你 要 稱 為 至 高者 的 先知 ； 因為 你 要行 在 主 的 前面 ， 預備 他 的 道路 ， 叫 他 的 百姓 因罪 得 赦 ， 就 知道 救恩 。 You shall be called a prophet of the Most High; for you shall go before the Lord and prepare his ways, that his people may know salvation through the forgiveness of their sins. 因 我們 神 憐憫 的 心腸 ， 叫 清晨 的 日光 從 高天 臨到 我們 ， 要 照亮 坐在 黑暗 中死蔭裡 的 人 ， 把 我們 的 腳 引到 平安 的 路上 。 Because of the merciful heart of our God, let the morning sun come upon us from on high, to enlighten those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and lead our feet to the path of peace. 那 孩子 漸漸 長大 ， 心靈 強健 ， 住 在 曠野 ， 直到 他 顯明 在 以色列 人 面前 的 日子 。 The child grew up and became strong in spirit, and lived in the wilderness until the day he appeared to the children of Israel.
