PART 2.3 Caleb Interview — Learn English with Camille

Caleb: Um, and so now having that equipment out of my house, and having the kitchen table be the kitchen table, um, and which is, you know, which was in the same space as the living room, one giant room, and it's like, oh now I can sit on the couch and watch TV, or I can sit on the couch and read, or just sit on the couch and just be in silence like before I could not ever do that. And so it's been really cool to walk through that experience what it's like to not really have a space, and then actually get it back. So that was like that was definitely one of the hardest things that I walked through in 2020.

Camille: I bet so many people have walked through that same thing you know in this season.

Caleb: Yeah, exactly, I'm still meeting people today, that are experiencing like working from home, and they don't know when they're going back, and some of them like, I loved it when I first started working from home. I was like, oh this is great like, I can really make my own schedule, and kind of do what I want to do, um, but after a while, it just got really hard.

Camille: Yeah, it starts to wear on you.

Caleb: Yeah, it does like and you don't realize that until actually it just feels like it hits you one day, and you're like what do I do, you know, what am I gonna do?

Camille: Yeah, so, yeah, are you extroverted or introverted?

Caleb: Very extroverted.

Camille: So, then just being alone in your home…

Caleb: Yeah, exactly, exactly, um, it was definitely hard, and not being able to communicate, or really be around people as much because, when everything shut down, everything's shut down, yeah, and you can really only communicate through a computer, or a phone, or texting, like it's… it's not the same like being face-to-face with somebody.

Camille: Right.

Caleb: And I think we realized how much we took for granted by just being around people, and being together with people.

Camille: Totally.

Caleb: Or sharing a meal with someone you know.

Camille: The simple things.

Caleb: Yeah, exactly, the simple things, for sure.
