في أحد القرى كان هناك منزل قديم يسكنه زوجان عجوزان وفقيران. ||the villages|||||inhabited by|elderly couple|elderly couple|and poor In one of the villages there was an old house in which an old and poor couple lived.

كانا يملكان دجاجة واحدة. |"they owned"|chicken| They had one chicken.

اتمنى ان نحصل على وجبة متكاملة ولذيذة ولو لمرة واحدة. I hope||we get|||complete||even if only|for once| I hope we can have a complete and delicious meal for once.

ما رايك لو ذبحنا الدجاجة وأعددنا بلحمها وجبة شهية؟ |your opinion||"we slaughter"||prepared|with its meat|| What do you think if we slaughtered the chicken and prepared a delicious meal with its meat?

وفي احد الليالي هبت عاصفة قوية. |one of||"blew"|strong storm| One night a strong storm came.

فخاف الزوجان أن يصيب الدجاجة مكروه were afraid|||befall||harm The couple was afraid that something bad would happen to the chicken

وقررا إدخالها إلى البيت حتى تكون في أمان. |bring her in|||||| They decided to bring her into the house so she would be safe.

وأثناء العاصفة تسرب الماء من سقف البيت القديم |the storm|leaked|||roof||old house During the storm, water leaked from the roof of the old house

وتسبب في ابتلال الأثاث، فقالت الزوجة : Caused||soaking|the furniture|she said:| It caused the furniture to get wet, so the wife said:

ولكن ادخار المال يتطلب الكثير من الوقت ||||a lot|| But saving money takes a lot of time

ونحن عجوزان لا نقوى على المزيد من الانتظار. "And we"|||"are able"||more waiting||the waiting We are old and cannot wait any longer.

فكرت الزوجة قليلا وهي تنظر الى الدجاجة The wife thought a little while looking at the chicken

ثم أكملت حديثها : |continued|her conversation Then she continued her speech:

أظن أن في بطن هذه الدجاجة كمية كبيرة من الذهب. I think|||belly|||||| I think there is a large amount of gold in this chicken's belly.

وإلا كيف تفسر البيض الذهبي الذي تبيضه؟ "if not"||explain||||lays How else do you explain the golden eggs you lay?
