Nouns

Nouns in Hindi are referred to as "संज्ञा" (Saṅjñā). Nouns are words that name people, places, things, or ideas. In Hindi, nouns are classified into three genders: masculine (पुल्लिंग), feminine (स्त्रीलिंग), and neuter (नपुंसकलिंग). Additionally, Hindi nouns can be singular or plural.

Gender in Nouns:

  1. Masculine (पुल्लिंग):
    • Examples: लड़का (laḍka) - boy, सूरज (sūraj) - sun
  2. Feminine (स्त्रीलिंग):
    • Examples: लड़की (laḍki) - girl, चाँदनी (chāndnī) - moonlight
  3. Neuter (नपुंसकलिंग):
    • Examples: फूल (phūl) - flower, पेड़ (peṛ) - tree

Number in Nouns:

  1. Singular (एकवचन):
    • Examples: किताब (kitāb) - book, मित्र (mitr) - friend
  2. Plural (बहुवचन):
    • Examples: किताबें (kitābeṁ) - books, मित्र (mitr) - friends
