Swimming with manta rays in Hawaii

“We have to go at night, and there are sea urchins, but don't worry, I've done it before,” our friend told us. We were a bit nervous, but we didn't want to miss out on this adventure, so of course we said yes. The idea was to enter through the back part of a hotel, where there was a light in the water and then we could potentially swim with the manta rays. We brought our own flash lights as well as snorkels. We got in the water and waited for the manta rays to come. One did, and it was bigger than me. “This is magical,” I thought amazed as I watched its body glide effortlessly in the water. “Some nights there are 10 manta rays,” our friend told us. We never saw that many, it was just the one, but it was worth it! I would do it again if I got the chance. There is nothing like the feeling of adrenaline and beauty all mixed in one moment. On the way out of the water, our friend Liam stepped on a sea urchin and part of the spine got stuck in his foot, and it HURT. He limped around for a few weeks, but didn't regret the experience! The sea has so much mystery intertwined, it's like a whole other world of beauty. So if you're in Hawaii, go snorkeling and if you can, do a night swim with the manta rays, but be careful not to step on a sea urchin!
