How many of you watching have run a race in October?

Give this video a like and pop a comment in to tell us which one.

There were some absolute beasts this month, including a load of the world majors, the London Marathon,

Chicago, Boston And, of course, we had Berlin on the day that our last show went out.

And what a day that was.

If you're yet to catch up on the final episode of my quarantine to qualify series, I love it if you check it out.

But a warning.

It's a bit of a tear jerker.

Yeah, that really got me right in the feels.

Well done, mate.

And there was also Amsterdam Marathon, our very own Sarah's very first

marathon and her video is up on the channel to watch. Amazing

stuff, guys, made me really jealous.

And you just got to think of me as a dormant volcano whose lava stores are filling up with

molten rock and fire just waiting to explode in 2022.

Okay, have you run one of the many autumn marathons? keep your eyes

peeled on the running channel this week as we've got a video giving you all the tips that

you need about what on earth to do next, Now away from marathons.

And this weekend, it's the

OMM event, the UK's biggest mountain race.

It's been going since 1968 and is an absolute belter of a race described

by past entrance as enjoyable suffering and truly epic.

There are six courses in total and each range in difficulty when it comes to

navigation and terrain.

You run in teams of two, and it's impossible to give you an exact distance and assent for the

courses because each team chooses the route they take between the checkpoints.

You might also remember us talking back in the July show about a crazy race

where you run down an 80% gradient ski slope in Austria and then

back up again.

Well, innovates infamous descent Race was also back this month,

and, of course, we had to send some runners to go and tackle it.

Stay tuned to the running channel in November to see how they got on and finally, something

that you can get involved in with us.

We're joining forces with a six next month for their world.

You couldn't relay now, for those of you unsure what an accident is.

It's a 100 year old marathon distance Japanese relay race that's based on

the way that messengers moved from the old capital Kyoto to the new Tokyo.

Now, when a runner finishes their leg, a traditional sash or Tatsuki is passed to the next

person.

So from November the 10th until the 22nd, you can team up with your running

pals and complete the distance.

Together we'll have our own running channel team to, and even better, by

signing up, you'll be raising money for the mental health charity mind where have you been racing

this month?

Tell us in the comments below and let us know what races you're currently training for.

Two.

Next up, it's running.

news for October With Garmin

First up, we are heading back to the London Marathon for a big fat roundup of all the

amazing stories.

First, Charlotte Purdue ended her 2021 on a massive high, coming in 10th

female and becoming the third fastest British woman of all time behind

Paula Radcliffe and Mara Yamauchi.

She crossed the line with a new PB of two hours 23 minutes 26 seconds,

14 seconds short of Marat Mara Yamauchi's second place on the British all time list.

Yeah, there was also a new women's champion in the race.

Joyciline Jepkosgei, who until this month held the 10-K Road world

record time, took the win with a time of two hours, 17 minutes and

43 seconds, well away from the elite field and 54 record

attempts took place.

With runners aiming to enter the Book of Guinness World Records, you might remember back in

2019, our very own running channel presenter Kate Carter, became the fastest

female to run a marathon in a full body costume when she ran dressed as a

panda, never stops talking about this year.

There were 30 new records set, so a huge well done if you were one of them.

A special shout out to Sarah Dodging and Max Livingston Lear Month, who ran the

fastest marathon in a two person costume, crossing the line as a super

speedy sausage dog in three hours 17 minutes and 12 seconds.

Unreal and event director Hugh Brazier also confirmed that the marathon will

be returning to its usual April timeframe in 2023.

The ballot for next year's race, which is happening in October, again, has now closed.

But if you entered it, you'll be finding out if you're in in February next year.

Fingers grab a lot of debate about those dates.

Finally, another world record for you.

A former British soldier, Darren Hardy, pulled a car 30 miles to beat three

world records, including the fastest marathon whilst towing a car and for all you

watch him from the UK No, it wasn't because he couldn't find any petrol.

Good one, Rick know.

Daryn completed this epic feat to raise funds to help pay for medical treatment for a

12 year old girl with a rare life threatening disease.

Super good Cause Now, time for the treadmill Challenge with Swift.

This month, it's the turn of running channel community member Jess Carter, who you might remember from our

strong of a challenge, video suggests, is one of loads of runners taking part in the

swift Academy run programme.

An eight week training programme where you run a baseline five k at the start and end

and take part in a load of structured workouts in between to help you

improve, she'll be sharing her progress on the running channels, social media

channels.

Sponsor Wiggle.

Stick around.

Now let's look at the running launches for October.

Yeah Mm Polar have

launched a brand new watch this month.

The Polar Grit X Pro.

You might remember us releasing a first look video when the first model of this watch came out.

Well, it's had a serious upgrade.

The new watch has been tested under the most extreme conditions and has some incredible features,

including 40 hours battery life with full GPS water

resistant up to 100 metres and turn by turn, guidance from commute

sticking with tech.

And there's been a new long awaited update from Straw.

For you can now add your gear info to your profile via the mobile

app.

Oh, unbelievable.

Until now, it was a feature you could only access by using straw over on a

computer.

But now you can use the Strada Mobile app, open the U

tab and select profile, then gear click on the plus sign icon in the

upper right hand corner to choose whether to add a shoe or a bike by tapping on

the first drop down menu.

It means that when you add your runs on strawberry, you can assign a shoe to them so that

you can keep track of how many miles you run in them, Which is you've used for.

Which workouts.

This is nuts, isn't it?

Is anyone else so happy to see that Strava update?

Or just me?

More tech now and Super SAPIENs have launched a new real time data display.

Wearable.

The Supersapiens Energy Band is the first and only wearable device that can read sports

glucose data directly from a special biosensor that goes in your arm.

The tech is like that used by diabetics to measure their blood glucose

levels and displays an athlete minute by minute glucose data.

You might have seen some of the elite athletes at the big marathons this season, with the sensors on their

arms shoes now and Hoka One One have released the next iteration in

their Bondi line.

The Bondi X.

It's hocus newest offering in the carbon plate department.

But they say this is a carbon plated shoe for everyone because it's designed to give

runners of all levels stiffer, more energy efficient movement through

each strike now, For those of us living in the Northern Hemisphere, winter

is coming a little Game of Thrones reference there for you.

And with that, so are the darker mornings and early sunsets.

Now is the time to make sure that you can be seen on your runs, and Brooks have launched their

run visible collection tops, bottoms, shoes and accessories basically

all the stuff that you need as a runner, but in designs that allow you to be spotted by a moving

vehicle from 180 metres away.
